Vermont Treasurer Michael Pieciak, bullhorn in hand, last week accused the U.S. government of “murdering” a Minneapolis activist. The accusation occurred on Thursday, January 8 at a Burlington demonstration organized of leftist organizations, including a communist group founded by a Chinese billionaire.

The use of the term ‘murder’ to characterize the January 7 shooting death of Renee Good also was employed by NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani and many other Progressive/socialist political figures and elected officials.

Pieciak is regarded as a frontrunner among Democrats to run for governor this year or in 2028. Good was shot to death by an ICE agent as the SUV she was driving bumped him, knocking him down. It is unclear whether Good intended the contact. Her wheels were turned and she may have slid into the agent. The incident is under investigation.

Pieciak, however, had no lack of clarity about the intentions of the ICE agent when he addressed a Burlington crowd comprised of members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation Vermont, whose website claimed involvement as “more than 1000 Vermonters marched to the Federal Building to demand justice for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by ICE agent [name omitted by editor] on Wednesday.”

“She’s not going home to live her life because our government murdered her,” Pieciak told a large crowd in front of the federal building on Elwood Avenue. A TV news report quoted a PSL member at the demonstration: “‘Donald Trump’s use of ICE as an army to keep people in line has been in line with what every administration has done before him. It’s what ICE is there to do: keep migrant workers from being able to organize and to rip up families, that’s what they do best,’ said Vivan Bose-Pyne with the Party for Socialism and Liberation.”

PSL – whose state affiliates also participated in demonstrations in New York and other large cities, according to news reports – believes that only revolution can end capitalism and establish socialism. According to news and online sources, PSL and its affiliates are partially funded by Neville Roy Singham, a billionaire businessman and admirer of the Chinese Communist Party.

Also in attendance at the Burlington demonstration were members of Indivisible and other Progressive, anti-Trump advocacy groups.

  1. But you made no statement about the Doctor that murdered her 17 month old child by strapping him in a child seat and letting him cook in the back seat of her car in 2024. At least the child didn’t try to drive over his mother first.

  2. “Murder” is a legal term, with it’s meaning understood by most people of average intelligence, but obviously not by our Treasurer, wannabe governor. The ignorance of his statement alone should disqualify him from ever serving in any high office. The majority of voters in Vermont unfortunately are of the equivalent level of intelligence.
The only thing standing between Vermont and a governor with this lack of understanding of the law is Phil Scott, and I thank God for him every day.

    • The Treasurer doesn’t know what PCR stands for (I asked him), yet advised the Governor on covid policy. Their bread is buttered from the same serving dish.

So pontificating from a standpoint of ignorance is nothing new for MP. Get used to it, Vermont.

  3. Though I’ve seen camera footage that says it includes the shooting, it also shows the driver making turning motions on the driver’s wheel as though making ready to flee. I agree if shots were fired they should have gone into the car’s wheels, not at the person. This is messy.

    • Shootingtiers, nail strips, whatever, flat tires do not stop a vehicle instantly. I’v seen videos of desperate people driving for miles after having their tires flattened by law enforcement. The best they can hope for is that the vehicle does not go very far, or very fast, before the vehicle, and it’s driver, decide it’s a losing battle, and comes into compliance. It’s sad that women made poor choices that cost her her life, but if she had not made the choices that she made leading up to the shooting, she’d still be alive.

    • Shooting out tires only works in Hollywood. Police use tire deflation devices quite regularly and fleeing drivers continue on for miles at high speed sometimes. In the situation of IMMINENT THREAT, immediate response directed against the threat is the only logical and rational reaction of a public servant who wishes to return home to their wife and children. We live in a sometimes violent world, which requires law enforcement armed with deadly weapons. It is the responsibility of all citizens to know how to behave in their presence. Without law enforcement there is chaos. Thank God there are people willing to take on the role and responsibility of protecting society. Dont mess with them.

    • In order to shoot the tires, the agent standing in front of the car would have had to be a gymnast with a skyhook. What a hilarious image! I wonder whose voice the foolish woman had in her ear that convinced her she could play a deadly game with an armed officer of the law and come out a winner. It surely wasn’t someone with her best interest in mind.

  4. Again our elected people in Vermont are following their counterparts in other Democrat controlled, blue states, and doing as the Dem leaders tell them

    • It’s all about votes, and the wackos own the media’s attention in Vermont .

    • It’s a rough Monday news morning in Vermont, or, more so if you have any fiscal or constitutional sense. We have people leading our state that want to get rid of capitalism, and replace it with the system used in .venezuala! At least we won’t have to take drugs to keep our weight dow, we can go on the Muduro diet, cars be damned.

Really tough news day for our state, Marxists aka legislators are back at work. This one is pretty bold!

  5. This rhetoric from our elected officials needs to stop and stop now! It’s just fueling the fire of the mentally deranged to go out and cause more chaos. I don’t recall any of them standing up for the many Americans that have been murdered by illegals. Maybe if they did more people would actually support ICE instead of trying to attack them or run them over.

  6. An ICE officer’s job description does not include allowing people to run him over. I’m surprised that Mr. Pieciak doesn’t know this. (Not really.)

  7. This joker isn’t qualified to run for dog catcher, nevermind Gov…….Has the Treasurer invested any of the runds entrusted to him IN VERMONT….or are they all just parked in risky Wall Street bank bonds……as usual over the past gazillion years. Hoping for a crash? Dennis Morrisseau

  8. Interestingly, all of a sudden Democrats, after going to TV telling military not to follow unlawful orders, now celebrating the issuance of unlawful orders by city Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, Mayors and Governors !!!!

  9. How convenient for Tim Walz. Instead of being tarred and feathered and driven out of his elected office, he’s elevated to the level of Pope in canonizing a saint. The level of hypocrisy rises in equal measure to the level of fraud.

  10. Ms. Good has now been judged a DOMESTIC TERRORIST. She certainly fits the definition. Our illustrious Treasurer needs to issue an apology to Vermont citizens and Federal government officials for professional disparidgement and State embarrassment. If you are going to act that stupid you do not belong in that position. Our treasurer needs to resign.

  11. Noticed the call for revolution by one of the left wing communist groups. Who will fire the first shot and are they ready for a response in kind?

  12. I am at a loss for words concerning Pieciak. Only a clean, honest election process will protect us from his kind. SIGN AND SHARE THE PETITION from the January 8th article on ELECTION INTEGRITY!!!!
