McKibben urges attendance to show support for LA immigration protest
By Guy Page
The national advocacy organization that protested Vice-President J.D. Vance’s Vermont ski vacation in February is staging 30 “No Kings” protests in Vermont this Saturday, June 14 – coinciding with the Army Day parade in Washington D.C..
The 30 ‘No Kings’ demonstrations in low-population Vermont are the most per-capita in the nation, according to anti-Trump Substack blogger and protest chronicler K. Starling.

Urging support for the Saturday event are influential legislators (for example, Hartford Democrat Rep. Esme Cole), advocacy organizations such as VPIRG and the ACLU-VT, and Vermont climate activist Bill McKibben. A social media post shared by VPIRG announces a workshop ahead of the rallies featuring Cole and representatives of the advocacy groups.
“President Trump and his odious henchman Stephen Miller are trying to bait the people of Los Angeles into some kind of violent reaction, so they can swing public opinion back to their side on the issue of immigration,” McKibben, a Ripton resident, said in a June 8 Substack post. “It’s sick, it’s calculated, and I’m not sure what do do about it except—and this could not be more important—remind you all to make sure everyone you know is signed up for No Kings Day next Saturday.”

Starling predicts the nationwide event coordinated by Indivisible “promises to be the largest protest in decades.”
“On April 5, there were 1300 protest sites with an estimated 3,500,000 to 4,500,000 participants,” Starling reported June 5 on Substack. “On June 14, there are 1800+ sites with new locations being added daily. If the attendance averages meet or exceed April 5, there will likely be 4,900,000 to 6,282,000 in the streets that day.”
Indivisible has drawn more than $7 million in funding from the Open Society Foundation, a philanthropic organization funded by leftist billionaire George Soros. It also claims broad support from large numbers of small donors, but does not provide financial details on its website.
The ‘No Kings’ protests coincide with a Washington D.C. parade, requested by President Donald Trump, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army.
The U.S. Army website states that “On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress passed the following resolution: Resolved,That six companies of expert riflemen [sic], be immediately raised in Pennsylvania, two in Maryland, and two in Virginia; … [and] that each company, as soon as completed [sic], shall march and join the army near Boston, to be there employed as light infantry, under the command of the chief Officer in that army. With this resolution, the Continental Congress adopted the New England Army of Observation, making it a “continental” army — a united colonial fighting force — that could represent all 13 colonies with the addition of the troops from the three middle colonies. The Continental Army thus became America’s first national institution.”
June 14 is Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
And – a fact noted by ‘No Kings’ organizers – it is President Trump’s birthday. Because some monarchies celebrate their monarch’s birthday as an official holiday, Trump critics say the president planned the taxpayer-funded parade as a birthday party for himself – a claim both he and the U.S. Army deny.
Indivisible was founded by former Congressional staffers Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin in 2017. According to Wikipedia, “Leah Francis Greenberg is an American political activist and co-founder of the progressive non-profit organization Indivisible. She is co-author of We Are Indivisible: A Blueprint for Democracy After Trump, published in 2019. Greenberg, along with Indivisible co-founder, Ezra Levin, was named by Time in 2019 as one of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world. She and Levin were selected by Politico in 2017 and GQ in 2018 for their annual lists of most powerful and influential people in Washington DC. She is currently the co-Executive Director of Indivisible.”
The organization claims to be funded by a large group of small, like-minded donors. However, it does not list donor financials on its website. Also, the Open Society Foundation operated by lefting philanthropist George Soros reports it has donated over $7 million between 2017 and 2023.
The Vermont rallies appear to be planned as peaceful street demonstrations with a flag theme. For example, Brattleboro will host the Let Freedom Fly! march and rally in celebration of Flag Day and in solidarity with nationwide calls for justice and unity. The event will begin outside Centre Congregational Church and proceeds through downtown with music from The Peoples Resistance Marching Band and Becky Graber’s Street Choir. The march will end at the Town Common for a community rally featuring local organizations, food vendors, speakers, and entertainment.
According to a spreadsheet on Starling’s Substack page, the 30 protests include one each in 27 Vermont towns and cities, and three in Burlington.

Vermont, king of Astro turf and Marxist propaganda. Sad state of affairs.
Vermont is king of Astro turf and Marxist propaganda, a sad state of affairs.
The correct title should be ‘no kings that aren’t Democrats’
Considering we just had four years of king making, now we find his court jesters were making all of the decisions. Bernie and friends organizing the revolution to overthrow our Republic?
These people obviously don’t pay taxes, work, little education, parasites that are hired protesters by the criminal Soros. He has 11 non-profits to finance disruptions, it’s his game plan. Liberals love him so he won’t be deported as a terrorist. Some European countries wants him in prison. This is the Liberal policy, destroy America. The various cities and states are examples of their position. Newsom (CA) said he was going to sue Trump because troops were there to control the rioters. As goes CA so goes VT.
Exactly Tom!
Swing public opinion back to deporting criminal illegal aliens? News flash!: Most Americans are strongly in favor of ICE doing its job. That in part is why Trump won the election in a landslide = won popular vote, won all “swing states”, made significant gains with minority voters, won a landslide in the electoral college.
Need to remember to this ideology a majority doesn’t mean Democracy if it elects someone that doesn’t agree with them
Headline fixed:
Soros-backed group plans 30 VT ‘No Brain’ protests
Clearly these are people who’s minds have been taken over by the propaganda machine. Very sad, especially for them.
What this proves is mcGibbons is a paid organizer not a scientist. Which proves out that the entire climate movement is propaganda not science, propaganda driven and supported by the United Nations, not the scientific theory.
Don’t confuse political science with real science. They teach the opposite in Vermont schools, hence our Vermont problem.
Montpelier, here is your sign.
Absolutely! It’s all about making money and controlling people here and around the World! It’s one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated!
Indivisible=Once a marxist you can’t leave, you will comply by force or be canceled.
Which proves it to be closer to a theocracy. People should not fear the truth.
Thanks again for VDC so I am able to make comments without receiving retaliation. I live in Calais (where I grew up), and “Indivisible” is being promoted more and more. Of course, they are now promoting “No Kings” day. Now their claim is being “Anti-Trump”, which they are, BUT first and foremost they are Progressive/Marxists!
Some of you may have already read about my experience in Cartagena, Colombia on the Hospital Ship Hope in 1967, but I will mention again. All of what is happening with Anti-America is a reminder of what I personally witnessed for ten months in Colombia. The conditions we dealt with were the result of a Marxist-type government, and why we were there to attempt to assist them with their medical issues. I could write a book about my ten months there, but will just briefly summarize here. The hospital conditions were deplorable, and primarily due to lack of money. I spent 3 months in the Maternity Hospital, which was a part of the University of Cartagena, as a surgical nurse with my Colombian counterpart. There were openings through the wall of surgery to the outside. I had to do things I had never even heard about, ie. patching rubber gloves and sterilizing items in a pressure cooker because the autoclave was “broken”. On and on it went. The living conditions of our patients consisted of dirt floors. Most babies were born at home!
Of course, the rich lived in their beautiful homes and received great health care at the main University Hospital. I will happily say that we had a very successful experience there, with the health care community being able benefit from at least some of our help and to carry on. Our motto was “Helping others help themselves”. When we sailed away there were about 40,000 people on the dock waving good-bye. When we had arrived, the taxi drivers, etc. were trying to scam us “wealthy Americans”! Not. I hope I haven’t bored any of you, but my experience is very much on my mind now because of the Soros, etc. folks that hate America. Yes-I have some tears in my eyes.
More nonsense from ” Deep Blue Vermont ” where do we find these people and there idiotic protest, from what I’ve seen, they are grey haired stooges with nothing better to do, stop and question them, and you’ll understand ” stooges ” terminology.
Vermont progressives are the cancer, that will kill this state from nonsense, wake up people !!
The state has problems, and these feckless protest will solve nothing, and that includes the entire planet.
Soros paid protesters! I’d love to get the number to call just to prove it to the Marxists up here!
theses “protests” are a great way to get vermonters to look the “other way….”
hey vermonters… “YOUR TAXES ARE OUT OF CONTROL but we legislators have your back by supporting dumb “protests… and so what if you lost your car in a pothole “
June 14th is both Flag Day and the Birthday of the US Army. This is now the Democrat Party versus the United States. Pick a side.
Good. The more they rally, the more they push moderates and independents away when it’s clear these protesters are nuts and emotionally driven.
Trying to be California
Vermont is trying to keep up with CA.
Vermont will also go DOWN with CA.
Treason has a way of catching up with you. It won’t be long now!
I’m starting to believe that it is time for POTUS to declare martial law, and by any means necessary, put an end to the violent “protests.” Not only in LA, but everywhere where these violent riots have been occurring for too many years now. This would also prove useful with defanging radical leftist judges, politicians, and achieving mass deportations.
We can only be pushed so far before Vermont is restored to it’s pre elected democrat roots and common sense republicans (MAGA) take over again.
So if we have a Democratic prez again someday, you’d be okay with him or her declaring martial law and taking away everyone’s guns and lining up all of the Republican protestors and judges and so on, and sending them to prison? And deporting anyone that the regime didn’t want to be here?
Apparently there’s a parade going from south to North here in the state of vermont. I’m thinking many of us should join with our Trump flags and convoy with them
Tell them Christ is King, KIng of Kings…..
then you’ll discover who is really their daddy….lol…
Soro’s is evil and his followers are a junk drawer full of wingnuts.
I will ignore these arrogant and ignorant goons, I am MAGA, therefore, their mortal enemy.
Well, we.all know that Vermont is a.little California wanna be so this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
For the last couple of months, Bernie Sander’s “Our Revolution,” 501-C-3 scam organization, has been harping on the necessity of fighting back against the “King’s Parade” planned by an ‘authoritarian president for his own aggrandizement,’ on 14 June, 2025, and to grift more money. Bill McKibben and his ilk are pushing the lie, and the left’s hatred for Trump, and calling for “No Kings” protests in Vermont, and through out the country, that will only serve to spread that lie and hatred.
On 14 June, 1775, the fledgling Continental Congress, based in Pennsylvania, basically stated that the poorly trained, ill-equipped, gaggle of ragged militias from various states gathered in the Boston area, bringing their own muskets, powder and ball, was now “The Continental Army,” and that the Congress would “..feed them if they must and pay them if they could.” And despite all the privations, hardships and lack of support in the years to come, those men, and women, of the various militias, persevered and won out against the most powerful nation in the world at the time.
Good on them!
They were most certainly better men and women then those deviants planning to protest next weekend; people who have little or no knowledge of our nation’s history, culture and founding, and are too stupid to care.
The 14th of June military parade planned for Washington DC is to honor the founding of the United States Army 250 years ago. It’s also Flag Day, and the birthday of many others as well as Donald Trump. So on this 14th of June, thank the spirits of the “Minutemen” and fly our flag. Happy birthday to them all.
If Bernie Sanders wants to do all he pledges he will do to stop the parade, he’s more than welcome to stand in front of the tanks as they roll down the streets of D.C. As noisy and vocal as Bernie is, I’m sure he will be remembered much longer than the poor guy who stood in Tienanmen Square…
gailcardinal1938, a friend of mine was, in his youth, Leftist. He traveled to Cuba in a group which was delivering a number of high tech, very expensive medical machines. Most of these were taken by government officials and neve used at piublic hospitals.
More of the same petulant behavior expected from this Marxist/Progressive lunatic fringe cult. Imagine the hubris required to protest/riot in the name of illegal aliens and those who riot/commit violent crime (or they’re just too stupid to comprehend their support of violent riots). These are the same people who drone on about micro-aggressions and safe-spaces but take away their ladles to the public gravy train and all bets are off. It’s anything goes with this mob (including full and tacit support of violence) to achieve their goals for a centralized government society and to feel good about their righteous virtue signaling. The worst kind.
If Starling’s wildest imaginations come to fruition i.e. 6,282,000 protestors across the country, that would only be 1.8% of the population – where are all the other Libs?
How ironic that McKibben wants me to celebrate no kings, when he would lord over me his narrow view of how I ought to live my life based on pseudo science. For the record, mr. climate change has likely jet setted around the country/world more this past year than I have in my 6 plus decades of life.
I wish you would stop posting and promoting lies. But I guess you will not be happy until Trump declares martial law and proclaims himself president for life. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-george-soros-paying-protesters/
@Gina, your Snopes link has nothing to do with the primary claims is this article. Your link is referring to a single image being fake and that Soros has paid protestors $100 million EACH. Instead of looking at left leaning “fact checkers” for questionable support for your position, try looking through the public records of Soros’ Open Society Foundation and who the pay . . . I mean “support”.
Do you realize that posting looney stuff like this makes you look, well, looney?
Snopes. LOL.
Vermont also has the most lunatics per capita, such as Esme Cole and the rest of the nut cake majority in the Vermont Legislature.
Alex Soros and Huma Abedin are getting married Saturday June 14, 2025 at the $14.5 Million estate in the Hamptons, NY. In celebration of this union formed in Hell, Open Societies, all affilitated NGO’s and non-profiteers are so ordered to gather all trained monkeys to perform their tricks and trauma dramas across the country. All necessary equipment, weapons, protest garb, and scripted talking points will be provided. All main scream and controlled opposition media are so ordered to cover the events as directed in the 4am script drops. Please wear masks and make sure your phones are on so the pings can be tracked and traced for later follow ups. Any injuries or death are not the responsiblity of your handlers or your government. Any bail money needed will be under the direction of Kamala Harris 2028 fun fund. Enjoy the summer of love 2025 and be safe!
The Hertiage Foundation ran in 2007 a commentary called “The Man Who Would Not Be King” on George Washington and his refusal to be part of an effort by his own army officers to use the army to address their legitimate grivences by becoming the sole leader of the country. It is worth a read. https://www.heritage.org/commentary/the-man-who-would-not-be-king
This is another communist push that will cause civil war in this country. They have big mouths with mass and social media behind them.
No Kings, no kidding? There are 43 kings in the world. Do they want to get rid of all of them, some of them or one in particular? It sounds more like a “No More Laws” protest.
I apologize for the Wikipedia source, but it was the quickest link to begin to depict just who George Soros is and the breadth of his “philanthropy.” I use that term loosely. I think of philanthropy as doing community goodwill. George does a lot to disrupt the community rather than to support it. This is likely a partial list of his networking. I suggest that Vermont Daily Chronicle or someone eager to do an op-ed might do a more complete job educating Vermonters on the nature of George Soro’s financial support into these organizations so Vermonters can better understand how our 30 communities hosting No King events are being played not supported.

Thanks for this expose about indivisible and Soros. I’ve been watching this group as well as the mysteriously founded 50501 since they have romanced a group of disgruntled Democrats in my western Colorado town, which is one of the last bastions of Republicans in the state.
To them, republicans are ignorant MAGAts and they are thrilled to align themselves with these groups.
They’ll be on the corner on Saturday and if I have time, I may check them out.
I wish I had a MAGA hat.
After a game of chess…the king and pawns end up back in the same box.
Liberal leftist Dems, kings of the Swamp Rats 🐀 🐀 🐀 for sure!!!
So many amazingly excellent comments ! If I were 10 years younger & had any money left I’d be up for raising hell here in the state where I was born, with all of you. —-Dennis Morrisseau
