A 56-year-old New York man died Saturday afternoon after crashing his snowmobile in a race at the Suicide Six ski resort in Pomfret.
State troopers said during a snowmobile race event at Suicide Six one of the riders was traveling down the mountain when they left the course area and crashed into a tree. The operator sustained fatal injuries.
Vermont State Police were assisted by Woodstock Rescue, Pomfret Fire, and DHART on scene. The operator’s name is being withheld to give the family time to notify loved ones.
Inmate found dead – On Sunday April 3, Vermont State Police began an investigation into the death of an inmate at the North East Regional Correctional Center in St. Johnsbury.
At 7:27 pm a male inmate was found unresponsive in his cell. The inmate was provided with immediate medical attention but was later pronounced deceased. The cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy. This death is not considered suspicious. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
