Vermont State Police are investigating a shooting that left a man seriously injured Sunday afternoon on Jefferson Hill Road in Newbury.

Police said the victim was shot in the roadway at about 2:05 PM. He sustained serious injuries and was flown by the Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART) helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Authorities said the extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

Investigators believe the shooting involved individuals who knew one another and said there is no identified threat to the public. The victim’s identity has not been released pending further investigation and notification of family members.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111 or submit an anonymous tip through the Vermont State Police’s online tip portal.

Rescue – Rescuers used a sled to haul a man back to level ground after he and his mobility scooter fell down an embankment above Boch Park  Sunday afternoon in downtown Bradford. 

Bradford Fire Department, Corinth Fire Department and Upper Valley Ambulance were among the emergency responders assisting with the rescue. 

Sinkhole – Essex Police Sunday, August 2 reported a sinkhole at the Sand Hill Road – River Road intersection. The hole was marked with cones and the Highway Department set to work on the problem.
