A Bennington man was charged with excessive speeding for traveling 96 MPH on Rte. 7 in Shaftsbury.
At 6:30 pm Wednesday at 6:30, a state trooper was conducting speed enforcement on US Route 7 near the Shaftsbury pull-off in the town of Shaftsbury. The Trooper initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling 96 miles MPH in a 55 MPH speed limit zone. Austin Sousis, 24, from Bennington was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for speeding with a waiver penalty of $613 and was released with a citation to answer the charge of excessive speed.
This isn’t Sousis’ first encounter with the law as a speeder. In 2017, Sousis pleaded guilty to excessive speed and other charges in connection with speeding at 100-120 MPH in Bennington, according to the Bennington Banner.
