Senate Republican congratulate Scott, disappointed voters didn’t choose more balance

by Scott Beck

The Vermont Senate Republican Caucus congratulates Governor Phil Scott on his decisive re-election and thanks all candidates who ran statewide, or for the Legislature. Win or lose, we owe them all a debt of gratitude.

Sen. Scott Beck

Governor Scott’s victory reflects a clear message from voters: Vermonters want practical leadership focused on solving problems, not partisan politics. Throughout his tenure, Governor Scott has consistently demonstrated an ability to bring people together, manage taxpayer dollars responsibly, and keep Vermont moving forward during challenging times. His resounding re-election confirms the broad confidence Vermonters have in his steady and principled leadership.

We are disappointed that Vermonters did not choose more balance in the Legislature, and instead decided to return to a super majority.

Rising property taxes, housing affordability, workforce shortages, public safety concerns, and the cost of living continue to place enormous pressure on Vermont households, especially in rural areas of Vermont. Our caucus remains committed to addressing these challenges with practical policies that strengthen communities, while respecting taxpayers.

The results of this election underscore the importance of moderation, fiscal responsibility, and bipartisan cooperation. Vermonters expect their elected officials to work together, listen to differing viewpoints, and focus on delivering results. That is exactly what Senate Republicans intend to do.

As we prepare for the upcoming legislative session, we look forward to working with Governor Scott, our colleagues in the Legislature, and communities throughout Vermont to advance policies that make Vermont more affordable, more prosperous, and more welcoming for future generations.

Tonight’s results are not simply a victory for any one party or candidate. They are a reminder that Vermonters value thoughtful leadership, independent thinking, and a government that remains focused on the people it serves. We are honored by the trust voters have placed in us and are ready to get to work.
