Scott streamlines industrial site permit process

Governor Phil Scott and the Vermont Department of Economic Development (DED) today announced the launch of the Rural Industry and Development Program (RIDP) to increase the amount of move-in ready industrial space, in an effort to shorten the timeline for the permitting and building of sites that businesses can confront when moving to, or relocating within, Vermont.

“Expanding Vermont businesses and recruiting new employers from out of state is an important priority for my Administration,” said Governor Scott. “Having industrial space ready for occupation increases Vermont’s competitiveness and will help us overcome a challenge we’ve heard from prospective businesses.”

In 2022, DED received a dozen inquiries from companies headquartered in Canada and Germany looking for move-in ready industrial sites. Those potential employers were from the aerospace, manufacturing, construction, and tech sectors. Collectively, they could have brought 284 jobs to Vermont, but they never came because they could not find suitable industrial capacity.

RIDP provides $5,000,000 in grant funding to regional and local development corporations located in areas that can accommodate business growth. Eligible uses for a RIDP grant include the purchase, demolition, building, or renovation of a property for industrial use, as well as permitting and installing infrastructure including, but not limited to, electricity, parking, and driveways.

“Our regional partners know which assets in their area could benefit from RIDP,” says Vt. Economic Development Commissioner Joan Goldstein. “We’re excited to work with them to increase economic opportunity and vitality in their regions by using RIDP to make them more attractive to businesses and employers.”

RIDP requires the formation of a Rural Industry and Development Fund (RIDF). DED intends to manage RIDF as a revolving fund. That means if an industrial property that benefitted from RIDP is later sold, the awardee will return the amount of the total principle of the grant plus 2.5% compounded annually, not to exceed $250,000. That money will then be used to make more RIDP grants possible.

The application portal is open now and will close on March 15, 2024. For more information, click here.

  1. Any critical thinker and inquiry driven individual should be asking themselves why suddenly the desire to relax these restrictions. Why now? The answer is obvious, to bring industry to Vermont for migrants.

New York is taking steps to employ the illegal migrants brought to the US by the United Nations and its stakeholders. The below link is to an article called New York is Considering Relaxing work Qualifications for Thousands of Jobs to Hire Migrants.

I believe that the planned invasion of the US (known as replacement migration by the United Nations) is why critical social justice was unleashed on America, whose dominant demographic was mostly white people of European origin.

Critical theory claims that holding people to a standard, any standard is synonymous with white supremacy. Math and the scientific method are also associated with white supremacy. The introduction of critical theory and social justice was done to prime Americans to accept what UN/WEF stakeholders, including Abundant Sun in Vermont, refer to as achieving real DEI.

Americans that were required to meet specific job requirements and criteria to gain meaningful employment and advance in their careers no doubt will be expected to accept that the same requirements will not apply to the “New Americans.”

  2. this is called a public private partner ship a large amount of taxpayer money is used in these operations///

    • It is the very definition of fascism, courtesy of the World Economic Forum and its stakeholders, and the new stakeholder capitalism model

  3. Sounds like the Kingdom Con rebranded and refunded. Streamlining doesn’t mean the State has given up the price of admission. My bet this is the military industrial complex of NATO and friends looking for places to develop weapons of mass destruction and more mechanism of surveilence and control. It is what we are best at anyway.

  4. speaking of the kingdom con/// was that a major cover up///well, i guess we know that answer///

  5. the town of williston should not be able to bid against private enterprise for the old state police building/// the end of public private partners///
