Scott cites Pearl Harbor dead, American unity in WWII to challenge Vermont to fight Covid

In a public statement issued December 7, Vermont Governor Phil Scott contrasted the number of Americans killed during the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor – 2463 – with the 8913 Americans who died Dec. 3-6 of Covid-19.

As Americans rose to the challenge then, we must unite to sacrifice and defeat the pandemic, Scott said.

The entire statement reads as follows:

“Today we remember the 79th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor – a day that’s meaningful to Americans both for the loss we experienced and for marking the start of our involvement in World War II.

“In the days that followed, our nation mobilized an effort larger and more unified than any other. From the frontlines to the factories, Americans stood shoulder to shoulder in the fight against those who threatened our lives, our democracy and our future.

“We look back on this difficult period in world history as one of our country’s finest moments, when our efforts aligned to protect the ideals of our nation, and when our unity, extraordinary sacrifices and bold actions stood as evidence of the strength of American resolve.

“Seventy-nine years ago, 2,463 Americans were killed at Pearl Harbor and our nation rose together to meet an enormous challenge.

“Yesterday, COVID-19 took the lives of 1,111 Americans; 2,190 the day before that; 2,637 the day before that; and 2,975 the day before that. We must also rise to face this threat.

“The example of the Greatest Generation – the sacrifices they made to save lives and their service to the greater good – is there for us today.

“As we continue to fight a global pandemic that has taken the lives of nearly 300,000 Americans, the lessons and legacy of the Greatest Generation, and their willingness to answer the call to service, is a powerful reminder that there is no greater or more effective force for good than an America united in common cause.”

  1. This analogy is somewhat apropos, since President Roosevelt was aware of an imminent attack on Pearl Harbor. The attack was permitted because Roosevelt believed it would be the only way to get America behind the idea that we must get into the war in order to help our allies. This kind of political maneuvering continues today only much more sophisticated and insidious scale than back in 1941. The American people have been subjected to 70 years of brainwashing through television, and of course, through the print media. The reports of such a terrible pandemic, which is 99% + survivable has been blown way out of proportion in order to bring fear among the population. A fearful populous is easily controlled. Masks are mostly ineffective since they are not sanitized, they cannot be properly worn by men with facial hair, they are generally slipped in and out of pockets and purses. They are discarded without a thought of containing any pathogens that they may contain. If the government were really. Concerned about “safety” we would have containers at strategic locations to collect these masks, there would be locations were the public could get custom fitted masks made of the most sanitary material in order to really stem the spread of this 99% + virus! What has happened is this “pandemic” Has opened up an industry of “fun” masks for people to wear! It’s a game! The next generations are being brainwashed in front of our noses to comply with government orders without question or you will be ridiculed! Just wear the mask, they proclaim! Look at all the wonderful designs you can get! Look how cute you look in that ! Make sure you stay away from those bad people who don’t wear masks! They are going to hurt you! Our REPUBLIC is at risk! Whenever you hear a politician say “our democracy”; it means they have been compromised and bought off by the elitist that control everything! Be aware and wake up!

  2. Uh, is Gov. Scott saying that we should declare war against China, where the SARS-CoV-2 virus was created?

  3. Okay, I understand, Governor Scott. I need to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times when I am in public. I couldn’t spend Thanksgiving with my family, and I expect to spend Christmas alone as well. Even though I am perfectly healthy, doing otherwise could kill somebody’s grandmother whom I have never met. I don’t know where to find easily readable statistics for Vermont, but it seems like the cases began to skyrocket only AFTER his August first mask mandate. Here are some interesting charts from other places showing the correlation between the dates lockdowns and mask mandates began and the number of COVID cases. What will it take for people to wake up and fight this ridiculous assault on our freedom? I believe it will only get worse until enough of us stand up and refuse to comply.
