Scott blames Trump for attack, calls for president to resign or be removed

The following statement was released this evening by Rebecca Kelley, Office of the Governor

OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR PHIL SCOTT ON RIOTERS IN THE U.S. CAPITOL

Montpelier, Vt. – Governor Phil Scott today issued the following statement:

“This is a very disturbing time for our nation. What we are seeing today at the U.S. Capitol is not a peaceful protest – it is an unacceptable attack on our democracy.

“The rioters have actively assaulted police officers, and they should immediately evacuate the Capitol building or be removed.

“Make no mistake, the President of the United States is responsible for this event.

“President Trump has orchestrated a campaign to cause an insurrection that overturns the results of a free, fair and legal election.

“The fact is the results of this election have been validated by Republican governors, conservative judges and non-partisan election officials across the country. There is no doubt that the President’s delusion, fabrication, self-interest, and ego have led us – step by step – to this very low, and very dangerous, moment in American history.

“The fabric of our democracy and the principles of our republic are under attack by the President.

“Enough is enough.

“President Trump should resign or be removed from office by his Cabinet, or by the Congress.”

  1. “This is a very disturbing time for our nation. What we have seen in the U.S. Over the last 10 months or so have not been peaceful protests. This years protests were unacceptable attacks on our REPUBLIC, the US is NOT a democracy! (Stupid politician!).
“The rioters actively assaulted police officers businesses, and even killed hundreds of people! The patriots in D.C. Today are the culmination of the liberal left and RINO politicians (like Scott), endorsing And condoning the death and destruction of terrorist groups like antifa and black lives matter. The patriots that showed up today in D.C. should be lionized and congratulated for standing up to the corruption and communist loving politicians (like Scott)! Make no mistake, the president of the United States has done more to bring America back from being taken advantage of by every other country in the world such as exposing the criminal and treasonous actions of politicians (like Scott)! “President Trump has orchestrated a campaign to make America Great Again! The insurrection that stole the results of our electoral process is a direct result of politicians (like Scott) as well as the complicit media. “The fact that the results of this election were validated by Republican governors, conservative judges and partisan election officials across the country, merely show the treasonous actions by politicians (likeScott) that have been paid off and are in the pockets of those elites that are promoting AGENDA2030. There is no doubt that liberal politicians (like Scott) and mainstream media Are delusion traitors full of self-interest and ego and they have led us – step by step – to this very low, and very dangerous, moment in American history! “The fabric of our REPUBLIC, (not a democracy) and the principles of our republic are under attack by the Left and RINO politicians (like Scott). “Enough is enough!
“President Trump should be immediately sworn in and order the arrest of all those liberal politicians (like Scott) as well as any Republican politician who has been complicit in the criminal activities surrounding this election cycle!

    • Mr. Wolfe, with all due respect, I understand your point of view. But what happened today in Washington was yet another setup. Trump should have seen it coming. So too should have his supporters. All of them. I mentioned it a day or two ago.

Does it occur to anyone that the DC Police, the Capital Hill Police, and the National Guard were able to show up just in the nick of time when protesters breached the Capital? Come on. I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. The joint session of congress was debating the election process. Senator Ted Cruz makes a very reasonable middle of the road request to create a commission to review the election process. What do the progressive democrats do?

Mind you, this is not a debate about the election ‘outcome’, as all of the ‘deep staters’ would like you to believe. It’s about the ‘process’. This false dichotomy still has everyone fooled.

Cruz’s recommendation is a reasonable middle ground. So how do the powers that be stop its consideration? Hey, we have a hundred thousand Trump supporters in town. Let’s incite a riot. Let them march on the capitol building, let them breach the perimeter, enter the building, even shoot one of them, and scare the hell out of the house and senate, and shut down Cruz’s very reasonable debate.

Yea, yea, yea, it’s a ‘conspiracy theory’. I’ve heard that before more times than I care to count. Whenever anyone cries ‘conspiracy theory’, watch your ‘six’. The only real ‘conspiracy theory’ is that there are no conspiracies.

Let’s face it. The Trump folks got fooled again. But don’t despair. There’s another election in just two years. Make it count. Just don’t be so stupid the next time.

    • I think Scott should be removed from office. He ignored the inexpensive solution that would’ve prevented the deaths in lockdown from the Covid virus. He’s got a big mouth but a little brain. drbob

      • Robert, absolutely! I was appalled by what he said. He is putting the life of our President and his supporters in danger just because he hates what they stand for, very irresponsible!

    • “Trump rioters have killed Hundreds of people!”” What Bull Crap!!

The rioters were dressed in Black with backpacks, uniforms for Antifa and Black Lives Matter
Climbing the walls, breaking windows and doors, first into the building,

The Trump supporters were dressed in colorful clothing, milling about outside, not exciting enough for TV.

BUT as ALWAYS the TV cameras always point to the small percentage of stupid, of uproar, of felons breaking windows. fighting with the Police, scaling the walls, Knowing that Trump would be blamed by a lazy media and stupid commentators.

The Trump supporters disappeared, when the TV cameras found the “real Story” the excitement.

  2. Govenor Scott needs to respect a fellow Republican,President Trump and see if he can do anything to help his own people in Vermont!!

  3. Meanwhile, Chairman Scott hosts super-spreader event at the State House for his coronation – rules for thee, not for me

  4. Scott has always supported violent terrorists like antifa and blm. He even helped blm deface the street in front of OUR Capitol. He must be removed along with every democrat supporter of communism and terrorism. I see he also failed to notice an American veteran was murdered in the DC Capitol. Shot to death with no warning by someone posing as Capitol “security”. But no, blame someone who wasn’t there for the violence of demented antifa terrorists (identified as such by the FBI). Who does he blame for the violent storming of the Capitol during the hearing for Justice Kavanaugh? Scott is a total, but dangerous, dud and has to go.

  5. They were so violent in the senate office building that they failed to destroy or burn anything!

  6. A few days ago I tried to make the point to our Legislators that the mechanics of Unity come with priorities that cannot be ignored, especially when there are those seeking advantage from our division. The mere fact that concerns are being dismissed instead of validated should tell us all we need to know about what is going on here, we are being intentionally divided!

Letters to legislators: Election integrity is ultimate legislative priority

Editor’s note: This is part of TNR’s Letters to Legislators Series.

    Vermont legislators:

There’ve been many events and players placing wedges of division between us in 2020 America, diverting our attention while creating internal conflicts within our borders.

However, we must understand this strategy of divide and conquer is nothing new and we are truly not normally a divided people, although sometimes we may not realize when others are taking advantage of us, or diverting our attention by employing this tactic of division.

For the most part our country’s normalcy stems from the foundational principles upon which our republic was established, and as long as their basic truths are revered, normal behavior will be consistent with these beliefs to the point of being predictable.

But when normal behavior is ignored, and replaced by that which is not normal, it confuses the distinction previously defining our understanding of right verses wrong, isolating us by division of our principles.

The question then becomes, can we any longer discern predictable norms of behavior when they are simply no longer recognized by a significant number of our peers?

It is at this very moment of internal conflict that contradicting values should indicate a threat is present, thus we must be cautious of its agenda and motive for diluting our unity. Ultimately, the basis for establishing norms of right and wrong is for the sake of unity — therefore it must be validated in truth of principle, if it is to unify or forever remain divided by a force of dishonest will.

But unity is not found in the outcome of election tabulations that determine who won or lost; rather, it is in the validation of its trusted conclusion that we are brought together.

As Americans struggle with the outcome of the 2020 election one thing is crystal clear: the process of its validation is severely compromised by forces seeking our division. Even as these concerns of validation are dismissed there is no trust to sustain our republic in the predicted outcome, other than by pretense.

But how do we pretend to be united when we are isolated from and invisible to each other? The republic is being divided, and the ability of legislators to recognize the importance of election integrity is uncertain, but this ultimate priority of our time is most urgent for a house divided against itself.
