Slain police officer’s funeral July 18

Officer Jessica Ebbighausen

RUTLAND, Vermont (Thursday, July 13, 2023) — On behalf of the Rutland City Police Department, the Vermont State Police is sharing the following information about the funeral for Officer Jessica Ebbighausen, who was killed in a vehicle crash with a fleeing suspect last week. The public will have two opportunities next week to pay their respects to Officer Ebbighausen, who was hired as a patrol officer with the Rutland City Police Department on May 25, 2023:

  • Monday, July 17: A walk-through for law enforcement and first responders will take place at 4 p.m. at the Rutland Recreation Community Center, 134 Community Dr. Members of the public will be admitted immediately after the emergency services walk-through, and doors will remain open until 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 18: Officer Ebbighausen’s funeral will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. at the University Pavilion at Vermont State University, Castleton Campus, located at 360 South St. in Castleton.

Police officers and Honor Guard units from throughout the state and across the country are expected to attend. Parking will be available on-site at both venues, but carpooling is strongly encouraged. Seating for the funeral is expected to be extremely limited, and inclement weather is in the forecast, so members of the public who wish to pay their respects are encouraged to consider attending the Monday walk-through instead.

  1. I PRESUME that Senator Leahy AND Senator Sanders will both be present along with other “elected officials” of note from the State of Vermont in order to show their respect for this honorable profession and offer solace to the family. Therefore, I will also presume that thereafter they will be contemplating how their leftist ideologies and policies of no cash bail, lenient prosecutorial standards, being soft on drug dealing, noncompliance with Constitutional law, etc.) have caused immense pain, suffering, and death to innocents. Isaiah 3:11 “Woe to the wicked, it will go badly for him, for what he deserves will be done to him”. Start to do what is RIGHT and JUST for Vermonters, representatives of Vermont – NOT what you believe is “right” for those in other states, or in other countries, or for your Communistic cause.

YOU work for VERMONTERS. And you worked for Officer Ebbighausen.

Again, Rest in Peace Officer. Thank you for your service to this state.

    • Info about the memorial is probably not the best place to bring it up but you are spot on that the general hatred of police and disrespect for the rule of law being sown by leftist politicians and their supportive “community members” is precisely what leads to behavior like that which resulted in the death of Officer Ebbighausen. May she rest in peace. Progressives who foment the current attitude toward law enforcement all have her blood on their hands.

  2. Sad thing is the perpetrator will get off with a slap on the hand because he’s claiming mental health issues, they should drag him out of the hospital and hang his useless ass.

    • Sorry, but that would only be one less vote for the pathetic criminals in public office in this Godforsaken state.
