Reddit’s social-media page devoted to Vermont’s largest city is afraid of the word “homeless,” judging by its moderator’s censorship.
A number of critical posts that Reddit users tried to publish on the site’s Burlington page – known as a “sub” in Reddit lexicon -have been blocked and deleted.
The latest incident occurred Friday when a Redditor tried to post a video of a “homeless” guy urinating on the outdoor patio, and violently banging on the glass, of an upscale Church Street restaurant.
“Odd that the r/burlington sub took it down,” commented u/Warm-Bathroom-489.
“Oh, right, everything is just fine and safe in Burlington,” Warm Bathroom quipped. “That sub is such a joke.”
Warm Bathroom’s criticism was posted on an alternate Burlington sub (Reddit page) that competes with the main Burlington site.
The alternate site, which is far-more accommodating when it comes to offending dainty Karens, is known as u/realburlington.
The main Burlington page also reprimanded another Redditor for daring to criticize illegal immigrants.
“I got flagged for saying that the homeless were like refugees and we needed to build a tent city for them,” said u/McNuggestFest_1358. “‘Violation of policy.’ Ugh.”
“The Burlington sub is full of lefty nutjobs,” commented r/VTGameFan
