Readers wonder why Phil Scott didn’t sign Texas border letter. Guv explains why

by Guy Page

When 25 Republican governors Jan. 25 released a joint statement in support of Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas’ constitutional right to self-defense against “unprecedented illegal immigration,” Vermont Gov. Phil Scott’s name was not among them.

It wasn’t just ‘deep red’ or southern border states signing on. Gov. Chris Sununu from neighbor New Hampshire also signed. But not Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy, and not Phil Scott.

Many Vermont Daily Chronicle readers have asked your editor to ask the governor to explain this decision. For example, this email from Gary in Franklin County: “I was wondering if you could ask Phil for me why he did not support Texas border issue? I sort of suspect that seeing Phil voted for Joey that he (Phil) supports Joey’s open border policy. Apparently Vt has no Fentanyl issue and that our northern border is secure.”

So, we asked. In response, press secretary Jason Maulucci told VDC the governor is concerned about the border and supports a solution in Congress.

“The Governor shares concerns expressed by governors and leaders of both parties about the situation on the southern border. He believes Congress should continue to work towards solutions to both secure the border and address humanitarian needs.”

But sign this letter, and others from the Republican Governors’ Association? Nope.

“The Governor is asked to join on to many national-level letters, and we decided long ago to prioritize bipartisan requests that originate from the National Governors Association,” Maulucci said.

Scott also refused to sign a similar RGA letter protesting the insecure southern border in September, 2021. He also chose not to endorse an October, 2023 initiative by Sununu to use state resources to secure the northern border. He declined, too, to sign a 2022 RGA letter urging Pres. Biden to end the Covid State of Emergency

Last week, the other governors issued their statement “as the Biden Administration continues to attack Texas and refuses to take action or responsibility for the crisis at the Southern border,” an RGA statement reads.

“President Biden and his Administration have left Americans and our country completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border. Instead of upholding the rule of law and securing the border, the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border. We do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally.

“The authors of the U.S. Constitution made clear that in times like this, states have a right of self-defense, under Article 4, Section 4 and Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution. Because the Biden Administration has abdicated its constitutional compact duties to the states, Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.”

Signatories include: Governor Kay Ivey (AL), Governor Mike Dunleavy (AK), Governor Sarah Sanders (AR), Governor Ron DeSantis (FL), Governor Brian Kemp (GA), Governor Brad Little (ID), Governor Eric Holcomb (IN), Governor Kim Reynolds (IA), Governor Jeff Landry (LA), Governor Tate Reeves (MS), Governor Mike Parson (MO), Governor Greg Gianforte (MT), Governor Jim Pillen (NE), Governor Joe Lombardo (NV), Governor Chris Sununu (NH), Governor Doug Burgum (ND), Governor Mike DeWine (OH), Governor Kevin Stitt (OK), Governor Henry McMaster (SC), Governor Kristi Noem (SD), Governor Bill Lee (TN), Governor Spencer Cox (UT), Governor Glenn Youngkin (VA), Governor Jim Justice (WV), and Governor Mark Gordon (WY).

The Governor shares concerns expressed by governors and leaders of both parties about the situation on the southern border. He believes Congress should continue to work towards solutions to both secure the border and address humanitarian needs. The Governor is asked to join on to many national-level letters, and we decided long ago to prioritize bipartisan requests that originate from the National Governors Association.

  1. Understandably, in moonbat-infested Vermont he walks a fine line. I much prefer him over, God forbid, Gov. Baruth, Gov. Balint, Gov. Krowinski, Gov. Weinberger…ad nauseum…

    • Rich is spot-on. phil scott must deal with the majority democrat/socialist voter, should he choose to run in 2024. His leadership style, like it or not made him the ‘most popular governor’. I don’t like his style, but I remember what became of Vermont when Jim Douglas left the office in 2011. Similar super-majority then as now. We were subjected to peter shumlin and his pet socialist health care debacle.
It’s not a stretch that zuckerman, baruth, krowinski and a litany of other elitist pol’s
would embrace all manner of socialist issues clamoring for the right to ride in the electric ford pick-up official governor’s vehicle. Remember too- that Vermont is critically dependent on federal funding for it’s budget of largess. patrick leahy brought home the bacon and made reliance upon the federal government a inseparable requirement. scott really cannot irk the fed’s without serious implications to Vermont’s dependence on these tax dollars. everyone’s hero bernie and peter don’t have the clout leahy had.
For those that forget, shumlin’s universal healthcare would have rocketed Vermont’s income tax to 20+% and imposed additional 10% tax on employers, all but crippling the Vermont economy. The redux of that bill, H.156 is currently in the hands of the Committee on Healthcare, ready to wreak havoc if passed…

    • Scott has had an opportunity at every election cycle including the very first one to back candidates that would bolster ‘his’ position, IF ‘his’ position were in fact one of upholding the constitution of the State of Vermont and supporting the fiscal health of this state, supporting mental health services, and upholding the law. He has never done that. Instead he has turned his back on his party, lied to GOVT, called members of ‘his’ party derogatory names and turned his back for his own-self preservation. As the most popular ‘republican’ governor ever, his endorsement would mean something wouldn’t it, but he doesn’t’ give it. So he isn’t actively looking to bolster his republican governor status, but just to hold on to what, his lame duck status.

    • phil scott is not and never has been a conservative. He is at best centrist and walks a tightrope, just as any other non-majority governor would need to. he aligns closely with Dick Mazza, Colchester’s state senator- another moderate.
scott and Mazza and painfully few others are the adults in the statehouse and
governor’s office, doing what is possible to accomplish with the super-majority socialist legislature. There are but a handful of people to keep the likes of baruth, krowinski, zuckerman, cina, sibilia, bray and the like somewhat at bay. Read the listing of bills introduced this biennium- it is an embarrassment of totalitarian socialist ideals looking to become law. There are Tens of thousands of Vermont conservatives that wish phil scott were a conservative- or even a right leaning strong republican- but he isn’t, never will be. He is however the last stop to prevent the total dissolution of Vermont’s Constitutional Republic. We are watching what “democracy” results in- Mob Rule. Be careful what you wish for.
Perhaps, another VDC question should be leveled at mr.baruth and ms. krowinski- Why in light of the rampant virtue signaling regarding illegal border crossers, had Vermont- and specifically Chittenden and Washington counties not made accommodation for the 22,798 illegal border jumpers that came over Vermont’s border in 2023. What possible impact would 2-3000 illegals- just 10% of the total-have on those two counties- to provide shelter, food, health services and stipends for those people? How much in additional taxation would baruth or krowinski tolerate to provide every service required to support these illegal immigrants? I suspect there would be a crisis of epic proportion- as it’s very hard to virtue signal when your bluff has been called.

    • I don’t blame him either. He’s the only Republican governor of a state that’s not at all competitive for Republicans on a federal level at this point. He has to focus on holding back the worst radical proposals in Vermont. Was happy to see Chris Sununu signed on though.

    • I do not care what he calls himself, but he IS NOT a republican. VT has not had a republican governor since Snelling, only spineless democrat frauds masquerading as republicans.

  2. Are readers TRULY wondering??? That’s difficult to believe. But, OK….
Because he is, for all intents & purposes, a democrat.
Because he cherishes his reputation as the nation’s “most popular governor” & doesn’t wish to jeopardize it.
Because he almost never takes a strong stand on any issue so as to maintain the aforementioned reputation.
Because he possibly justifies in his mind the rationale behind the “new world order”.
Because he hopes to be re-elected and much like Hussein Obama did in his unambitious & milk toast time spent in the Senate, voted simply “present” on all legislation so his record would be exclusively noncommittal & not open to criticism.
    Because he is a coward.

    • 💯 percent right. He’s had his spine removed and a window put in so he can see where he’s going with his head up his a…

  3. A person of shallow character, devoid of principles. Content to play simple-minded Vermonters by leaning whatever way the wind blows. No one I could ever call a friend.

    • It certainly was a slap in the face to the GOP when Scott called for the removal of President Trump early in a bunch of rinos starting with Patty McCoy and Tom Burditt and Bruce Shaw and a host of other turncoats in the Republican party couldn’t wait to sign on and cause the destruction we are witnessing not only in Vermont but across America today…

These people are disgraceful and should be removed from offers

  4. Punt!

I wonder if he’d be willing to send back the million dollars the RGA sent him to help him defeat Keith Stern in the primaries?

However, he’s totally fine with broadcasting his very private vote for Biden for all the country to know and see.

Hey, Guy…..what about Paul Dame? What about the entire VTGOP???

    Curious vermonters are wondering…..

Do we have a border or not?

Perhaps we should identify as chinese nationalist looking for refugee status, where can we get the free phones and checks?

    • As amusing as this is, it shows your lack of actually knowing anything about Vermont politics.

Please let the adults have the room

    • I have never voted for Scott, Always voted for anyone against him in the primary, I think even Satan once. It does not matter who sends him money, you can vote for anyone if you bother to do the research. Even without research, you should not be voting for Scott.

  5. What should be done is this:
Retrain all federal law enforcement officers to be able to execute ALL migrants at the border.
Burnpits and mass graves could be built in the desert so citizens would not have to see the results of their representatives’ handy work.

Regarding undocumented folks already in your rapidly deteriorating country:
Trump will force migrant camp inmates to dig mass graves, and then line them up on the edge and machine gun them to death.
Thousands of dead or nearly dead will fill these pits, dump trucks full of lye will be applied before D9 bulldozers cover the atrocity.
“All Beautiful, for spacious skies, and corpse fertilized amber waves of grain
Kristi Noem has already approached trump about locating his migrant death camps in South Dakota.
There is plenty of open land for mass graves and burn pits.

    • Go tell the United Nations about your concerns as they are the one facilitating the invasion via us taxpayers. The UN doesn’t care about human rights, as they facilitate the dangerous trip through South America and into the Darian Gap with assistance from the Clinton Foundation, Doctors without Boarders, UNICEF and other NGOs. Woman are raped and brutally murdered and people with small children treck through muddy jungle paths, with people dying along the way. The jungle tent areas are filled with trash and human excrement. For the UN, there is no sacrifice too large or small. They use people as pons for its agenda.

    • Check out the You Tube channel “Bald and Bankrupt” the host makes the trek to the US border from Venezuela- at one point in the video, the UN is just handing out money to everyone.
Also have seen underage girls sent on the journey with morning after pills. Border patrol logs them with their other personal affects when being processed at the border all the time- many times they are found on women as young as 7 years old.

    • If anyone’s wondering, I suspect this billfromWhite plains person as not being a person at all…

Just a bot here to stew up more Trump derangement syndrome.

They’re getting better at it unfortunately

    • Wow “billfromwhiteplains”. What did you hope or expect to happen with this vitriol?
Glad you still have a pulse but methinks it is not a heart that beats but a processor. Just saying.

    • Or………………………..

WE could ENFORCE current federal immigration laws and not allow a feeble, Anti-constitutionally inclined POTUS to violate our long-established rule of law & demand that all leaders follow their sworn oath to PROTECT the US citizenry. Laws against unfettered, unregulated immigration are dangerous & engaging in such often ends in deadly consequences for citizens or the aliens themselves. Such is the very reason why virtually every nation around the globe, INCLUDING this sovereign nation, has immigration law.

Why do you not appear to know any of this, “Bill from Westchester County”? You’re not yet another lawbreaker like Biden & Co., are you?

  6. Governor Scott, standing on his tip-toes in a full septic tank, saying, “Don’t make waves”.

  7. As my late Dad frequently used to say back in the early 80’s of trade-union boss and architect of the UK miner’s strike under Thatcher, Arthur Scargill — “He is a man who knows exactly which side his bread is buttered.”

As a young lad, I never really understood what he meant. Now I totally get it.

Thank you Dad. I miss you.

  8. If Governor Abbott of Texas started sending busloads of iilegal aliens to downtown Montpelier, Burlington, Woodstock and Stowe you can bet your good teeth that Phil Scott would sign on with the other Republican governors. All the virtue signaling rich white liberal hypocrites would be protesting at Phil’s front door.

    • Yes, it is odd that the sanctuary city and virtue signaling City of Burlington has not has a busload or 2 dropped off at Church and Main…

    • Nailed it, although I think Burlington can be taken off the list as it has already been turned into a Marxist 3rd world city. Check out recent national crime stats over 5 – 10 year period.

  9. This is comical — Phil Scott won’t participate in national political wrangling, but never misses a chance to openly condemn Donald Trump to woo his Progressive base. And then he and his RINO crowd bristle when they are correctly identified as RINOs. Doesn’t Phil also support opposing ICE, labeling Vermont white supremacist, and allowing illegals to get drivers licenses and free housing? He should be down at the Mexican border, cutting wire and escorting gang members to deal fentanyl in the Green Mountains — but he pretends he is somehow above the fray that he routinely pours gasoline upon. Laughing joke, destroyer of Vermont, flatlander in Republican clothing.

  10. Phil Scott is the King Cuckold and – I was thinking when he was running originally he should be based considering his previous career was as a professional “racist” 😉

  11. Truly, a shameful act by Governor Phil Scott to NOT sign the Joint Statement to Support Texas’s Constitutional Right to Self-Defense!
All Vermonters should be appalled by this Governor! His action to not defend the Southern Border would most likely apply to the Northern Border being completely open for the Chicoms and Iranian proxies to infiltrate from Canada. We the People of Vermont have a Voice and we are definitely Not being Represented by this Governor or the majority of the Legislature of this State. The Governor and the majority of the Legislature have crossed the lines into Marxism, Globalism, not adhering to the Constitution and are lawless. Vermont is flying off the cliff, full-steam ahead.

    • Bet billfromwhiteplains enjoyed the -900 something MS13 members that were no longer running around freely around downstate NY within Trumps first year in office. Because I can say with certainty, the Salvadoran community, who are statistically the most victimized by them certainly did…. and if he didn’t even notice, well, that certainly must be a “privilege”.

  12. “Once trump is elected, it will be open season on anyone who isn’t white anglo-saxon protestant.
All others will dangle from lamp posts.”

    Roger Stone

    • Huh…..wonder WHY no one EVER saw any of that during his first term.

      MAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.

Lessons learned by trump at an early age

    • Your words are many, but your facts are no where to be read. Typical for those who don’t think and “emotionally” hate Trump. Are you jealous? What is it really? Please tell us Mr./Mrs billfromwhiteplains ……….

  14. Nice going Phil, old buddy, Pal ; just nice going. As long as there are plenty of other states who would support Vermont if that need arises, thanks be to God for that. A phony is a phony, and most always the lights shine brighter each passing day on these types. What an embarrasment!!!

  15. Simple answer – he’s a RINO and is getting lots of federal money kickbacks (aka our tax dollars) I laugh when he talks about federal funding – where does he think that money comes from?

  16. “He (Phil Scott) believes Congress should continue to work towards solutions to both secure the border and address humanitarian needs.” This is a pretty weak and lame excuse. Congress does not need to do a thing. The President just needs to follow existing US law regarding border security and hold other countries south of our border accountable for not following international law. .

  17. you will know when the end is near//// when the governor and that clown at uvm who pushed the covid kill shot are seen in a race car headed for the mexico border

  18. Breaking News!!!!!
Archer Daniels Midland has developed a process to turn executed migrant corpses into dog food.
    Film at 11.

  19. He’s doing what 70%+ Vermonters elected him to do. There’s no point in addressing the habitually crying and whining 10% of the irrelevant, irrational Right who have destroyed their own party.

By the way, the letter is nothing more than a platitude. It carries even less weight than VTGOP Right Wingers.

    • Some of those 70 percent would have supported him signing on. Heck even Bernie Sanders had at one point a somewhat tough immigration record.

  20. it is estimated that the cost to remove 11 million humans from amerika would be 114 billion dollars.
By the time this massive humanitarian nightmare is completed, 15 million more migrants will have entered your septic tank of a country.

    • So just for giggles why don’t you give us the amount of money it cost us for illegal immigration every year in America…

That 114 billion becomes a drop in the bucket..

Pack them up and ship them out

  21. I believe that Scott is being steered by the CCP, some years back a few during the coup of covid a lot came out of his Chinese relationships. If you do digging, you will soon learn just how infiltrated we are by the Chinese, using infiltration by stealth over years. and Now, with this invasion, in particular military age men of Chinese descent are crossing over. Some Chinese are frightened of plainclothes Chinese police in America. They have bought farmland and are hoarding the world’s corn supplies. I believe Scott is wholly compromised and aligned with a CCP stealth take over of America, his actions prove it. Here this Muckracker documentary following the immigration path should be extremely informative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTMBOINFi_c
The UN is funding it, and The US if the major UN funder, and the political class are extorting money through taxation to fund our invasion.

  22. black mail is a dirty business//// bribery is a dirty business/// now you have to prove it/// it will never happen in vermont///

  23. You know, we get rid of one troll and three more pop up. I guess that means Mr. Page’s handiwork is getting more successful!

  24. You would think any governor with an international border would take a stand with Texas.
CBP stats show the nationwide crisis:
For the first three months of FY 2024, there have been almost 1M border encounters.
    Oct 309k Nov 309k Dec 371k

For the Fiscal Years 2021, 2022, 2023 there were just over 8M border encounters.

For the previous FOUR years there were just under 3M encounters.

  25. Thankfully Vermont doesn’t have their own border crisis, because they surely could. Who would or should feel obligated to come help their fellow neighbors and citizens from the intrusion?
We as a country are footing the bill for our border crisis, epidemic drug and fentanyl crisis, the surge in homelessness, and adequate health care for our own citizens. Long time Vermont citizens are on year long waiting lists to see even a primary doctor for services.
Why, because politicians suck. They toe the line and pad the pockets of special interests, NGO’s, institute land law acts that make it nearly impossible to build adequate, affordable housing in our state.
It’s time that the interests of We the People are put on the forefront and the legislature and governor start adhering to Constitutional laws and principles.

  26. Truly gutless Governor.. I’m embarrassed to say I live in Vermont. Every state should be supporting Texas’s right to protect their citizens. It’s very true that every state is a “border state” at this point. I told Phil Scott in an email that the next 9/11 will be in his lap..along with all the other liberal blue states that are sitting in the wings and not demanding we put a stop to this INVASION.

  27. Vermont being a border state, people should see this incredible footage https://youtu.be/onrxX6Dwezs – just 18:55 min, then ask meaningful questions?
( “Midnight At The Border” | Running on Truth | Episode 2 | Robert F. Kennedy Jr.)

  28. What someone needs to do is to remind Mr. Scott of his oath of office. And the specifics of the Constitution. How many of you, dear fellow commenters, have read all of the Constitution? Not the fun parts… the entire boring parts. And considered each section?
Well, SCOTUS was correct, under the Constitution, the Feds have the legal authority to access the border. They also have a responsibility to repel an invasion, which they are failing to do and that is what Texas is now hitting them with. Failure to meet their responsibilities. And by not supporting the states of Texas and others, to repel the invaders, then a case could be made that Governor Scott is indeed guilty of treason as are others not supporting Texas. Just my perspective, I could be wrong. But I don’t think so.

  29. Gov. Scott indeed walks a fine line, in order to remain in office…I’m disappointed, but understand his actions, given what he is up against.

We are better off with he, than the alternative, as I see it, from my perch.

Let us hope, the next election cycle, that folks come to their senses, and oust these radical leftists, and so called progressives, so Gov. Scotts hands are untied enough, to wield his power, to better outcome, while remaining in power.

It’s a delicate game that I think he plays as well as can be.

    Kudos to him.

We also need to stop calling progressives, progressives, when in reality, what they promote, can truly, and sensibility, be labeled as regressive, in every shape, and form.

Vote out the Regressive party now, and vote in Team Trump, for the true reform needed to carry the state, and the nation, forward to a secure, and common sense future!

Bring the ADULTS back to power.

  30. So if you want to vote republican, your choice is between RINOS and NAZIS.

    • Dear Bill from White Plains…I’ve a question, after indigesting all of your inputs here.

Did your kin ever jointly, and careingly refer to you as…”Our little two watt bulb”, while growing up, in White Plains?

    • While mildly amusing to read this grammatically challenged bots comments- It seems that clarification is in order: Nazi was the acronym for The National Socialist Worker’s Party, of Germany in the 1930’s and 40’s until it was defeated, disbanded and many party members hung and sentenced to death for their role in WWII atrocities. Post WWII Germany was in ruins, thanks to the socialist psychopathic leaders they elected.
      Key word here is Socialist.
Republicans- and conservatives particularly are about as far from socialism as one can be.
VDC has made it possible for all to play in the sandbox, this commenter needs to step things up many levels to play.

  31. Donald Trump has made it clear that he does not want the House to pass the bipartisan bill which Senate Republicans helped create. Why? Because he wants to make the border his main political agenda. (Just like he wants the economy to crash to make him look good. Prett sick!)

    • Interesting that those posting against my comments do so without standing by their true names…interesting indeed.

It makes me suspect my truth hurts the left enough, they fear standing by their comments, with their full, and real name, so to my when a person will not stand by what they say…well common sense tells me what they say has no real worth or meaning.

Must be difficult having to go through life without the courage to stand up for oneself, or ones convictions.

I’m sure glad I’m not like that…don’t think I could sleep at night, were I like that, and I’d sure be ashamed to look at myself in the mirror, in the morning, when I shaved.

I just guess folks get like that, when growing up, they get a gold star, in school, just for showing up.

      I pity them.

    • Anybody who uses their real name and personal information on the internet is an idiot.

    • You and the two thirds of the VTGOP that support Scott and the 24 transrepublicans that voted for H89 are a good match William. The only difference between Scott and Zuckerman is a ponytail. Keep on defending Scott and all those that vote with the marxists.
Zuckerman is a marxists who hates America and our Constitution, but he doesn’t lie about it like the backstabbing transrepublicans do.
Gutless enough not to stand for anything.
Your truth is an embarrassment for any real Conservative Pro Life Constitutional Vermonter.

    • Donald Trump had the border under control and was building a wall to make us even safer in America…

Why do we need a bipartisan bill that allows more and more illegal aliens to pour into America..

Over 9 million have come in under Biden and God knows what came along with them..

When Donald Trump took his oath of office it was to defend America and he did one hell of a good job and that is why he is against this bill to promote more immigration when we are already overloaded in America because of people like Phil Scott and the traitors to America

Maybe you should attempt to check some statistics from when Trump was president and what’s going on now with this man making a s******* out of America

  32. Open letter to Phil Scott,
You are the only Republican Governor in America who does not support Texas and their Constitutional Guarantee to defend themselves and America.
You were the only Republican Governor in America who did not sign the letter condemning Biden for the border crises.
You support abortion to the moment of Birth.
You support the sexual, chemical, psychological and physical destruction of children.
You support criminal charges against every Parent and Health Care worker that would fight to protect the children.
You support and have participated in the writing of illegal and unconstitutional Gun Laws.
You support the invasion on Vermonts borders by not stopping the invasion.
You support illegal aliens over VT Children at risk from domestic abuse since you stole $2 million from the program to protect them to give to illegal aliens in VT not eligible for Stimulus checks.
You support illegal aliens over Vermonters at risk from tobacco companies since you stole $3 million from the Tobacco Settlement fund to give to illegal aliens not eligible for Stimulus checks.
You support the supermajority of marxists in Vermonts Legislature by not standing for Republican and Conservative values.
You called most Vermonters not essential while you allowed every VT Liquor Store and planned parenthood to remain open.
You kept every Government employee on the payroll while many thousands of Vermonters went without. Every teacher and school administrator received their checks.
You kept the Major franchises open while forcing Mom and Pop stores to close.
You asked children to tell their teachers if Mom and Dad had any company on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You paid Blackmail money to school districts with high jab rates while illegally withholding money from school districts where the Parents protected their children from your agenda to inject them with the poisons.
You can’t define the word Woman, thereby putting every female in Vermont schools, businesses and public place at risk from sexual predators.
So much more, but this proves who you are.
You are not a Republican, despite the fact that VTGOP Chair Dame brags about you.
You and the VTGOP violate the Republican Platform at will.
Real Republican and Conservative Vermonters have had enough.
Pull a Jeffords and make it official. You are an embarrassment to every Constitutional and Pro Life Vermonter.
Get the hell out of the GOP, and take the rest of the transrepublicans with you.
Maybe Dame and Koch have room for you in their Big Tent.
We don’t want you in ours.

    • I remember well being blessed in two different blocks by Dick Snelling’s leadership and wisdom. This was certainly a far cry from what is taking place now. Gov Snelling was a no nonsense business man and he was reveered around the country very, very well. We certainly could use a Dick Snelling today.
      May Gov Snelling RIP.

  33. Scott!! Is in the Basement with Biden!!
    That’s is no secret folks!!
Wake up Americans wake up Vermonters!!
    WAKE UP PERIOD!!
    REMEMBER SCOTT VOTED FOR (WHO!!)
THE SO-CALLED GUY IN THE WHITE HOUSE!! CORNPOP JOE BIDEN!! THAT IS A FACT!!
    RINO’S AND SWAMP RATS 🐀 🐀 🐀
I CALL THAT BEYOND DISGUSTING PERIOD!!
WAKE UP !!WE THE PEOPLE WAKE UP!!

  34. So if you want to vote for Democrats, your choices are TRAITORS or COMMUNISTS.

  35. In my opinion gov. Scotty has been and is and will continue to be a democrat in Republican clothing or in other words a RHINO or a sleepy joe – – – Kissers

  36. Phil Scott is a spineless rino coward and Vermont is a foul disgrace to America. Vermont is a ruin thanks to idiots who vote for communist filth like Bernie Sanders, Peter Welch and the gruesome Becca Balint.

  37. 645,000 people in vermont and you can not find a governor that will do the right thing///wow///wow///wow// take some more shots and boosters///

    • Decisions to run for Governor come down to this: When the battling of morons in our own party is a tougher job than battling them in th opposition party, who would want to stick their neck out there? Then why would anyone want to run when the hijacking of a reputable candidate for U S House occured by a unknown carpetbagger from East Bum—– prevailed? And then, what is worse no one cares to fix the situation that caused this hijacking!!!
I would certainly not get involved until the leadership chain at the state party level is willing to come to terms, emphasising unity, and doing the work in a fashion that creates WINS of candidates, not the other way around.
The current lay of the land WILL NOT produce winners of R making, at the state level. Just look at what we have, for starters.
Jim Sexton has said it best.

  38. Phony Phillipott is more left than Bernie. I can’t believe people vote for this turkey.

If you want a Phony Phake Phil video look up videos of him getting the jab.

  39. I find the response not directly from Governor Scott and insult. The information provided is lacking and this reporter should continue to follow this story by pushing Governor as this progresses to stand up and be counted or standup and say why not!

  40. Enforcement of the law is not partisan. Protecting Americans is not partisan Congress doesn’t need to pass more laws that Biden and his DHS Secretary won’t enforces. Facts contradict Governor Scott’s excuses. This is just more bs from Governor Scott.

  41. Any bill that Congress passes must be enforced. Unless he is incredibly naive, Scott knows Biden can use the law already on the books to control the border. He simply will ignore any new bill his handlers dislike. The Dems have already proved that liberal states like Vermont can and will ignore federal immigration and narcotics laws. Texas, however, has sound Constitutional grounds upon which to stand. Scott is a disappointment.

  42. Misgovernor Scott, have you read the Constitutions? Do you know that the people are sovereign and that the States created the Constitution which limits the national government and leaves everything else up to the states? Congress will not respond to the will of the states , ie the people, as long as the seventeenth amendment remains repealed. Who or what are you working for? It’s time to engage some Vermont common sense, Phil.

  43. With 97 comments on this article, I only hope that most of us are thankful and appreciative enough to be able to respond by contributing and supporting Guy Page’s efforts to keep these news reports continuing…I urge all those who haven’t as yet to donate to the cause…we need this voice! Fellow Vermonters, let us keep this valuable resource to continue…my faith continues for remnant Vermonters to stem the vile liberal tide invasion we are now experiencing.

    • I agree and sent in my check to Guy to keep free voices heard.
It is worth every red cent.
      Bravo Zulu Guy and team.
Don’t go the same way as Digger.
They started out good but went a long ways to flop into a leftist spin machine.
And Guy,beware of being targeted, in your comments section, by leftist bots, aimed to overwhelm your editing department, forcing you to shut down the comments sections…I assure you, as you gain traction, they will do this to shut everyone up.
      The left does this nationwide.

    • Hi William, thank you for the kind words and generous support. Both so appreciated. I have made inquiries about the bot possibility and will act as needed.
