At the University of Vermont, Middlebury College, Dartmouth College and the Lyndonville campus of Vermont State University, students and staff are supporting Hamas and Palestine and protesting Israel efforts to hunt down the attackers in the Oct. 7 raid that killed 1400 Israelis and took hundreds hostage.

At Dartmouth, in Hanover, NH across the Connecticut River from White River Junction, the protest resulted in the early-morning arrest of 90 students and non-students.

Also, the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Barre is hosting a gathering to support the UVM protest.

Dartmouth College: Police arrest 90 students, non-students

In a well-written and photographed account, The Dartmouth student newspaper reported the clash between New Hampshire police and protesters, resulting in the 1:30 AM, May 1 arrest of Hamas supporters, both students and non-students.

Police reportedly told protesters to go home and that “you’re up past your bedtime” before moving in to make arrests.

UVM: 100 students

About 100 students are protesting at UVM. They want UVM to divest investments in Israel. They also oppose the selection of U.S. Ambassador to Israel Linda Greenfield as the 2024 commencement speaker.

Over 100 UVM students formed a Palestine solidarity encampment Sunday, joining many other campuses to force divestment from weapons manufacturers and Israeli investments directly involved in the occupation of Palestine and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, according to The Rake Vermont, an online news source that describes itself as “pro-worker, anti-capitalist.…applying a broad socialist lens.”

The Vermont Coalition for Palestinian Liberation, an umbrella organization led by two Marxist groups, rebuked UVM for the choice of commencement speakers: “Thomas-Greenfield is a war criminal; she has vetoed several UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. She also vetoed another one recognizing a Palestinian state. We call on everyone to join the protest and demand that UVM disinvite her immediately. She has the blood of over 34,000 Palestinians on her hands.”

Vermont State University: lone student vigil

At the VSU-Lyndonville campus (formerly Lyndon State College), a student Kai Paroline is holding a vigil that includes carrying posters declaiming “From the River to the Sea,” the Caledonian-Record reported May 2.

Middlebury College: statement, then encampment

On April 26, the Middlebury student senate voted to sign a joint statement expressing solidarity with the protestors and condemning Columbia and Barnard’s administrations. Proponents of the measure argued that it was important to respond to abuses against student protestors and show firm support for free expression, Middlebury Campus columnist Shane Silverman wrote.

Silverman, a senate member, voted no, and explained why:

“They deceptively omit information about how the demonstration violated Columbia University’s community norms and was infiltrated by extremists who called for violence against pro-Israeli students. By infringing on other students’ ability to learn and harboring incidents of harassment, the protest fell outside the realm of protected speech.”

Middlebury Campus Managing Editor Katie Futterman reports that “at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, a group of about 40 students set up tents on McCullough lawn to show solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The students at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment — which continues to grow as more students bring their own tents — are prepared to remain on the lawn until their needs are met, or until graduation, which is a month away.”

Marxist umbrella group to meet in Barre church

The Vermont Coalition for Palestinian Liberation, a coalition including several explicitly socialist organizations, will seek to gain support at a meeting at the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Barre May 4, a social media statement said.

The two first member organizations listed on the VCPL website are the Central Vermont Democratic Socialists of America and the Champlain Valley Democratic Socialists of America.

VCPL “will discuss plans for solidarity with the student uprising for BDS, upcoming protests around commencements and Rafah, and our ongoing campaign for organizations, faith groups,” the statement said.

  1. It’s very possible that cameras will be used to record identities and license plates, and for that information to be used to exclude attendees from businesses and services. True Vermonters and Americans must starve these Socialists out. They are absolutely helpless without the capitalists they profess to hate; let’s see how long they can last without us.

  2. I’m totally digging the statement from the NH Police to the children at Dartmouth that they were up past their bedtime. Classic and full-on reality. Go New Hampshire!
BTW, since when are students in any position to “demand” anything from universities except a decent education that their mommy & daddy pay for or any taxpayer-subsidized grant money buys them via their tuition?
When I attended, I simply can’t recall making demands of anyone in positions of authority lest I be booted. The qualified teachers & professors instructed, made expectations for your work in class, and graded you accordingly.
As far as the lunatics demanding vegan meals & pizzas delivered to campus, I do think in hindsight it might have been a good idea to politely request more palatable food in the dining halls when I attended though. That stuff was pretty foul. Oh well.
For now, George Soros is merely sealing Donald Trump’s fate as POTUS. Thank God the Almighty.

    • Interestingly enough, every College and University in the USA (certainly including Vermont) has a list of the Institution’s ‘Code of Conduct ‘, that is required to follow to remain a student (or faculty). Hate, unauthorized assembly that effects the normalize function of the school, and causing a portion of the student body to feel unsafe, and unable to move around campus without fear of harm is on every Code of Conduct list. It is the requirement of every College / University president or Dean’s to do everything to assure that 100% of the student population to feel safe. It is also their responsibility to eliminate all how refuse to abide by the Code of Conduct, by force if necessary and permanently expell all after a warning.

  3. all of this diverging is keeping your minds off from pickpocketpowell and grammy smellen yellen and the federal reserve interest rate scam//// expect more inflation and more police state operations////

  4. Just further reminiscing about those good ‘ol college days – pledging a sorority, meeting cute guys, piling into classmates’ cars for lunch off campus…..oddly, none of what I recall, despite my jogging my memory, include donning a gas mask or lobbing tear gas grenades. Go figure.

  5. Should someone go to those meetings and ship them to Hamas, to find out how they like the people they are supporting? There would hardly be any protesters left… Hamas would simply kill anyone who protests, anyway.

  6. CHRIS: Who never leaves his reply icon because of inability to debate as others do: Do you feel as described about when leftist groups attacked the US Capital in the late 20th century and planted bombs?

Oh wait. That’s history. You dont appear to be familiar.

    • Joan, I know the Boomers don’t do technology, but for the 23rd time, I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REPLY BUTTON. Did you read about Dartmouth above? Good, I went there. Can’t say that I’m afraid to debate any of you half-wits and your false equivalencies and/or strawmen. I come here specifically to read (and laugh) about you and the other commenters that love to flex their superior intellect. Speaking of that Joan, can you list a specific instance of what are talking about or are you being purposely obtuse?

    • Hi Chris,
Not Joan obviously. Look up the Weather Underground. Bill Ayers and Susan Rosenberg were excellent commies who did, indeed try to blow up congress.

One of them went on to be something big in the BLM movement. Those of the “mostly peaceful” protests. The other was/is involved with the Bank Street education school. All good democrats btw.

So yes, there are specific examples.

  7. Well, I see the up-and-coming little geniuses, want to support a known terrorist organization, so maybe they need to go to the homelands of ” HAMAS” and see how they will fair over there, there’s ” No ” constitution over there supporting your nonsense, one good thing is that they’ll be able to wear their ” keffiyeh “, let me know how that works out for you……………I’ll wait for your return if you return !!!

You may think the USA sucks, let me know how Hamas treats you with your constitutional rights, the rights that let you act like fools………….how pathetic.

  8. Here’s just two, but there are others:
1.) The Weather Underground ( left-wing radicals) exploded a bomb in 1971…the bombing was in protest of bombings. It made sense to left-winger fanatics. Probably still does.

2.) In 1983 another bomb was detonated by the A.R.U. – another left-wing radical group – a bomb meant to kill, again, to protest military actions overseas.

And I’m not a boomer, but from your diatribes – r u a millennial or Gen Z who therefore cannot differentiate between fact & faction?

And we’re now all laughing at the fact that a supposed college grad never knew that the United States Capital has been attacked many times over history – or that the citizens in the Capital were let in by Capital Police, as per video tape proves, and ALL were unarmed. Some attack.

If we weren’t laughing though, we would all be crying. Fake news and the kids who believe they’re watching actual news.

    • The Weather Underground!!!!!! True, true, so invaluably true.

The radical group that Prez Obama was affiliated with himself! The W.U. was a radical leftist & anarchistic type group founded by Bill Ayers of Chicago who just happened to be a friend and a neighbor, “coincidentally”, of protégé Obama himself!

The Weather Underground bombed not only the US Capital, but the Pentagon & the NYPD Headquarters as well! Ayers, in retrospect, regretted the bombings he & his leftist cohorts engineered – not because such violent actions were intrinsically wrong, but because they didn’t kill anyone as they were planned to do.

Leftism has traditionally bred violent extremists.

    • Not a millennial or Gen Z and don’t know/don’t care who you are because you don’t know how to use a computer right. How are 1963 and 1971 late 20th century? No wonder I had no idea what you were talking about.

“And we’re now all laughing at the fact that a supposed college grad never knew that the United States Capital has been attacked many times over history ” If we’re going to do this, I’d be helpful if you wouldn’t make up things. Can you show me where I said the White House has never been attacked?

“If we weren’t laughing though, we would all be crying.” How are you laughing when you are the joke?

    • @Chris
The 1970’s are late 20th century. And the trends that started then are only now coming to their logical end.

Bill Ayers has been a big wig in steering education curricula away from the basic 3A’s to the “you can do whatever you want with your bits, it all good…. But remember to hate your parents, kids”

He raised Chesa Boudin. The recalled DA of San Francisco.

Humans have long lives. Their influence can last a long time.

  9. May be nation wide we need to produce a program that after arrested protesters that have to attend before release that show what Hamas captured their very own lens reveal.

  10. here is some thing that is not fake news//// three buildings blew up in new york city and fell down in their own foot print, and was blamed on two airplanes////

  11. It remains undeniable amusing that whenever leftists cannot refute facts and reality – they use trivial & petty diversion whenever they can! The poster in question requested proof that the US Capital had ever been attacked in history & was provided with such proof.

Secondly, the years 1971 and 1983 were factually provided as to when leftists bombed the US Capital and the Pentagon. Both dates which can or do correspond to the latter portion of the 20th century as represented.

Thank you, Joan, for your accuracy and for your detailed account that informed the youngsters of today of examples of the many attacks on the People’s House over the centuries, primarily by radical leftists, which are today conveniently overlooked by the fake news agencies which rely on propaganda & the omission of facts in order to indoctrinate their VERY easily led viewership.

The next obfuscation will again be the year(s) of birth of posters in order to attempt to continue to further feebly attempt to muddy the waters Joan has evidenced. If that can’t be accomplished – leftists will comment/concentrate on a presenter’s spelling error, typo, the “horror” of capitalization, etc.
    Anything to diverge from truth!

    • Dude, no one insults people here more than you. How many times have you been warned by Guy?

Are you still crying that you don’t know how to spell? It’s been three days.

And 1963 is not late 20th century no matter how much you want it to me. Take a ruler, find one and find yet. Is six closer to 5 or 10? Good!

  12. VtRocks: You’re spinning your wheels with the youngsters on here who garner their current events & their revisionist histories from MSNBC, TikTok & the like. And once they realize they have been licked, their responses immediately devolve into either personal attacks or diversions pertaining to grammatical errors or other senselessness.
The lamestream media has never reported about attacks on the Capital by the radical left, so therefore youngins’ know nothing about them or their operatives & affiliates, like Barack Obama. Very obviously once a government has control of the media, that government has control over its masses.

  13. Chris, Conveniently, you keep repeating the date incorrectly. The dates I gave you when the Capital was bombed by leftist groups was, again, in 1971 and 1983 – though both long before you were around, both within the latter 20th century as described accurately. You are wrong. Admit it…..yeah right.
