A former prison nurse from Derby Line has been charged following an investigation into drugs brought into a Vermont correctional facility.
According to the Vermont State Police, detectives determined that Jessica Baker, 46, of Derby Line, provided a controlled substance to an inmate while employed as a nurse at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport.

Police said the investigation began in late October 2025 after corrections staff discovered inmate KC Myers, 42, in possession of a Schedule II regulated drug on Oct. 24, 2025. Myers at the time was incarcerated at Northern State Correctional Facility.
Detectives later determined that Baker, who worked for the Vermont Department of Corrections as a nurse at the facility, had supplied the drug to the inmate. Baker was suspended from her position the same day the drug was discovered and resigned three days later, on Oct. 27, 2025.
The investigation concluded on March 11, 2026, when Baker was processed at the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks and issued a citation to appear in court on charges of transportation of a regulated drug into a place of detention and dispensing a stimulant drug.
Myers, who is now housed at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, was cited on March 13, 2026, on a charge of possession of a stimulant drug, police said.
Both Baker and Myers are scheduled to appear in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Newport at 8:30 a.m. May 5.
Police said Baker was released with a citation following processing and was not lodged in jail.

What was the drug?
Due to the complex gender dynamic between incarcerated persons and those of the opposite sex they interact with, perhaps it’s time to arrange that only men be employed and providing services in men’s prisons and vice versa. The escape from Dannemora prison some years back was a good example of how overly-sympathetic women can be coerced into engaging in prohibited activities with male inmates.
I thought she worked at my kids’ school!!
