Man shot by police still hospitalized

The investigation is continuing into last week’s shooting of a man in Ludlow by a member of the Ludlow Police Department.

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, Vermont State Police detectives completed voluntary interviews with the two Ludlow officers involved in this incident. Officer Zachary Paul and Cpl. Jeffrey Warfle are fully cooperating with the state police investigation.

The individual who was shot, Michael Mills, 35, of Cavendish, remains hospitalized at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Once the VSP investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Vermont Attorney General’s Office and the Orange County State’s Attorney’s Office for independent reviews of the police use of force. The Windsor County State’s Attorney’s Office has recused itself from the case.
