Police yesterday arrested a Burlington man for retail theft and possession of heroin.
Berlin police officers responded to the Berlin Mall June 20 after reports of possible retail thefts throughout separate stores in the area.
After investigation Andre Martel, age 39, of Burlington was taken into custody for retail theft, possession of heroin and for two active arrest warrants for failure to appear at court, one having a bail of $500.
Martel was cited to appear at Washington County Criminal Court on August 10 charges of retail theft and possession of heroin, and in Chittenden County Criminal Court for two active arrest warrants on June 21. He was jailed on the active arrest warrant with $500 bail.
Earlier this year, Martel was arrested for retail theft in Chittenden County.
Two AR-15s stolen – The Vermont State Police are investigating the theft of multiple firearms from a residence on Wayeeses Drive in the town of Morgan. The homeowner, Chad Camber, 46, of Morgan, reported the burglary on June 13. According to Camber, the burglary occurred between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Among the firearms stolen were a S&W Shield Plus pistol with a green laser attachment, a Palmetto State Armory AR 15 with a Vortex scope and muzzle brake, a 16-inch AR 15-style rifle, and multiple other firearms.
