A 70-year-old Roxbury man died Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Route 12 in Northfield, according to the Vermont State Police.
Police said Jose R. Sanchez, 70, of Roxbury, was driving a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport north on VT Route 12 at about 3:29 p.m. May 23 when he lost control of the vehicle and went off the east side of the roadway near 1379 VT Route 12 South.
Sanchez, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle sustained minor damage, according to the crash report. Weather conditions were described as clear and cloudy, and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation. State police are asking anyone with information about the incident or Sanchez’s driving before the crash to contact the Berlin Barracks at 802-229-9191.
