Man dies in freeway ramp crash

A 34-year-old South Hero man was killed Tuesday night, Nov. 3, when his pickup truck left an Interstate 189 on-ramp in South Burlington and struck a bridge pillar, Vermont State Police said.

Goodrich was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Tyler Goodrich was driving a 2018 Ram 1500 northbound on the ramp at about 9:36 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the pillar. The truck came to rest in a ditch with extensive front-end damage.

The crash occurred under clear weather and dry road conditions. Investigators said neither speed nor impairment appears to have been a factor.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Vermont State Police in Williston at 802-878-7111.
