Yesterday at 10 AM, Republican lieutenant governor candidate John Rodgers announced on his campaign Facebook page that he has the support and endorsement of the last three occupants of the corner office on the Fifth Floor of the Pavilion building in Montpelier. Former governors Jim Douglas (R) and Peter Shumlin (D) and incumbent Phil Scott all issued statements outlining their support for Rodgers.

Rodgers, a former Democrat legislator, is running against Dem/Prog incumbent LG David Zuckerman. In the primary, Zuckerman’s opponent was the recipient of campaign contributions from prominent Democrat elected officials and activists. However he won the Democratic primary. This coming Tuesday, Vermont will learn if the bi-partisan endorsement of the last three governors will be enough to lift Rodgers over Zuckerman in what many observers say is a tight race.

Zuckerman has been endorsed by Sens. Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch and Rep. Becca Balint, as well as several state senators, according to his Facebook Page.

The Rodgers campaign highlighted the importance of current and former governors endorsing their choice for 2024 lieutenant governor.

“All three governors, despite differing party affiliations, enjoy reputations for fiscal responsibility and accountability and a willingness to make tough decisions even when it meant disappointing special interests,” writes the Rodgers campaign in the Facebook post. “These same qualities are desperately needed in a statewide leader right now, and the governors are emphatic when speaking to Rodgers integrity.”

Rodgers served as a Democrat for eight years in the Vermont House and another 8 years in the Senate. After a 4 year hiatus, he launched his campaign for Lt Governor, this time as a Republican. He announced his campaign in the spring after two successful tax related protests at the statehouse.

The slogan of these protests “Tap Trees, Not Vermonters.”

Republican Governor Jim Douglas writes: “Having spent a few years of my life around Montpelier, it’s fair to say, I appreciate the value of bipartisan governance. John was always one of those elected officials I could count on to speak his mind, fiercely if necessary, in defense of his constituents and independent of party mandates. He always did so sincerely, thoughtfully, and in the collaborative spirit of finding the best solution for all Vermonters. I respected him then and respect him even more now. Please join me in voting for John Rodgers for lieutenant governor.”

Democrat Governor Shumlin writes: “I have worked with John Rodgers for many years. I trust John and I know that he has the best interests of Vermonters at heart.”

Republican Governor Scott adds to his endorsement: “I’ve known John for years and worked with him while he was in the House and the Senate, and I’ve seen firsthand how committed he is to Vermont. John knows what hard work is all about. He also knows that the solutions to our problems do not come from the extremes of either party — but somewhere in the middle. We need more voices like John’s in Montpelier to bring more balance and common sense to lawmaking. He would make a strong partner.”

Rodgers is challenging incumbent Progressive-Democrat David Zuckerman. Rodgers and Zuckerman squared off in their final debate last night on WCAX. This bi-partisan support from the current Governor and former Governors comes with just 5 days go until Election Day.

  1. Even the one Democrat Governor is nowhere near as far left as Boinie wanna be Zukerman. Send him back to Mars, or where ever it is he comes from !

  2. After watching the debate last night between Zuckerman and Rodgers I’ve come up with the following conclusion

I’ve been a supporter of John Rodgers for many many years now Because I felt he had the backbone to do the right thing for the people that voted for him

Recently he has jumped into bed with the likes of governor Phil Scott who has proven to be a discussing representative For the people in the state of Vermont

Scott sold us out to the Biden crime family into the likes of Harris And the rest of the liberals so hell-bent on destroying America….

When I listen to the debate I hear 2 candidates that don’t have good to stand up for what is best for Americans… It was done by 2 TV representatives who hate America….

I don’t usually believe it’s anybody’s business to anyone votes for but when I listen to two candidates Who supposedly want my vote fidget around and smirk and act like little children in front of a complete Audience that expects them to be representative of our values I couldn’t stand it….

These are 2 grown men who are not new to the political arena

These are 2 grown men who know what people need in America and in Vermont to survive and to keep their family safe and healthy…

Is John Rodgers was my choice For lieutenant governor and the state of Vermont..

After watching these 2 fools jiggle around and smirk and smile and try to think of something to get them out of the situation they were in Instead of Just admitting the only candidate to vote for in the president’s race was Donald Trump to save America they had no Idea enable field miserably….

I have Coach did the following on both of their pages…

I hope people in Vermont wake up and I hope people in the rest of the country wake up because we are about to lose our Is nation because of child like mentalities

Neither one of you won that debate last night

Neither one of you has balls enough to do what is best for the American people

The choice is simple… Do you vote for Kamala and open borders when already 30 million people have come into America illegally under her watch..

350,000 children have been lost and sold into the sex trade and are being mutilated and sold for body parts under Harris

Young ladies in America are being raped and murdered by the illegal aliens that have been allowed to pour into America under Harris

Women are being sex trafficked under Harris

Our children are being killed by the fentanyl being brought in by the cartels that just freely flow into America under her watch

Our cities are no longer safe and have actually been taken over by gangs

We cannot afford food or gasoline or propane or heating well because of the extreme in selection we suffered under Harris

The list goes on and on and it’s nothing but a list of failures…

There was absolutely nothing positive that can be said about the Harris campaign

If we check 4 short years ago we were living in a wonderful country safe in our cities and our borders were actually under control

Inflation was down housing was affordable you could put food on the table you could take a vacation and buy a house

You could purchase gasoline and heating oil and propane and food in the same week

Interest rates were low and available to everyone so housing and cars and whatever you needed what’s affordable

So I want to know why neither one of you two has the guts or the brains to make the correct decision about voting for a president

You make it sound like some sort of a joke… This is a joke a joke it’s about Americans’ future it’s about Vermont’s future….

I don’t think either one of you are electable I think we just gotta leave that slot blank if you’re both that Childish that you can’t decide to defend the the American people you don’t deserve to be in politics in the state of Vermont

    Your absolutely disgusting

    • Wow, from one of his most staunch supporters no less. It is a sad day for Vermont, many of us agree.

  3. Well, this is promising, though a bit late.
Long overdue for Zuckerman to move on. He’s too expensive for me. Unaffordable.

  4. Zuckerman can go already! Another tampon Tim!
Scott can go already! We don’t need his RINO bs anymore,!
    #HOYT4VTGOVERNOR❤️

  5. Just another day at the Vermont zoo. This is like walking in a field full of cows and try not to get your shoes dirty.

  6. Bright ” Blue ” Vermont is doomed, and will continue to be that way, as we have a non directional leadership, Vermont’s conservative Governor is a democrat at heart, and his support of a for a Lt. Gov, a dyed in blue democrat, that now thinks he’s a conservative, only because his party won’t support him and that’s our new leadership, give me a break.

Then we have the Vermont’s ‘ ” super majority ” this gaggle of fools is something else, as they are running the state policies as Phil bows to them, and these clowns thing they are what people are looking for, yeah, not so much.

I’m a seventy-three year old conservative ” Vermonter ” and the party I supported for years is long gone, so there will be a lot of ” write-in” candidates this year,

Vermont’s GOP is feckless and will continue to be that way, my old party is gone, and so is my support and my entire families support.

If you get a full ticket of ” Real Conservative ” candidates, maybe just maybe you’ll
get the state back on course…………………. No spine GOP leadership !!!

  7. What I don’t understand is all the effort and money and time put in for lg, why? Why? Why now. Lg could not have stopped any of the nonsense we have this year.

Yet on the ballot many major positions have Brooke page for candidate, now I realize he’s a place holder, but yet again on major areas vtgop has nobody to run. Why?

Well some us above have figured it out, if either one wins we have the same in place as we always have had, slick politicians carrying water for the man, not the common man but the puppet master, nwo.

There will be no change in direction for Vermont this election, that is for sure. Taxes going up again next year double percentage points! Taxing our way to prosperity, at least for the Montpelier pigs at the trough. Oink oink!

    • Its really simple, Scott wants to be done soon and Rodgers is the only Republican that remotely has a chance of succeeding him. Knowing that his own party is sick of him, this was the time to move on Zuckerman. The next election the Dems aren’t going to have a name to run against Rodgers. Rodgers 2026.

    • Exactly……my point. Except, Rodgers isn’t a republican! lol, just like Scott…..the next election they want two democrats running against each other, just like they have for years!

Thank you for making my point.

We are being played, over and over again.

They (the dems) will have a candidate running in the next election, it will be Rodgers!!!!lol and somebody else. They can’t lose.

Notice how Rodgers doesn’t talk about building the party, just like Scott. Perfect foil.

When is the VTGOP going to WAKE TF UP!!!!!!

    • The problem is that we are all so sinical now nothing meets our perfect candidate. I know a few people who have left the dem/prog party, should I call them out as RINOs or welcome the fact that they finally saw the light. In Vermont, a half republican is better than a full progressive. Trying to get your perfect conservative isn’t going to happen without the aid of people who were democrats but decided they had enough of the left’s destruction.

Of course, all the perfect people have never changed their mind, right. I was a democrat because I grew up in a democratic family. In my 30’s I switched and never went back. People have to be nurtured; they have to see their new party in action. They left the cult like party of dem/progs. Either accept them or keep looking for your perfect conservative and losing elections.

    • Respectfully, they are not even putting forth a decent effort, they are not supporting the other running mates and haven’t for years. They don’t even right strongly worded letters in time to make a difference. Anyone who’s worked or had any objective interactions would find the party “lacking”. Do they even have an office and someone to answer the phone? Last meeting I was at they didn’t even have a list of names for people in their own party.

They don’t even have a team of rhinos, they have no team, no money, no plan and no candidates, and of course it’s the fault of a keyboard warrior that they are in this position.

It’s ok to lose. It’s ok to lose massively. But it s not ok to blame others for what you are in control of. Scott and Dame are in control of the party. They could have elected their winning rings for office and had a sweeping victory, year after year…correct? But they haven’t done it have they?

Part of leadership is taking “some” resposibility, instead they blame a few people complaining .

      Nice try, they own this.

People are forgiving, they won’t even admit they could have done things differently, it’s those looking for the perfect candidate, hell they have Brooke page filling multiple offices year after year because why?

No sane person sees an organization that would be supportive of them going out into cancel culture land ruining their lively hood because there is only a trumpet, violin and clarinet in their orchestra….cant play a symphony without all the players.

No they have messed up royally, it will be for all to witness yet again next week.

    • Good points by all.
Cynicism begins at the top and filters down. Scott is an extremely cynical politician and, from what I can see so far, Rodgers has the same mentality. Spout some meaningless, feel good pablum at the press conferences with a pained expression on your face to garner sympathy/concern/fear (choose one) then return to the real games in the back rooms.

The real games are to grift. They are in it for the money, their own profit. Nothing more. They don’t care about their voters and they really don’t care about their party. They want the cash.

Suckerman was a nice, ineffectual idiot to have in place while the grift goes on. He put the chum of “social justice” in the water to keep us divided and distract everyone from the grifting. He is not needed now, though because they need to execute the succession plan.

We are on our own, boys and girls. Don’t feed them.

  8. These endorsements are a day late and a dollar short to amount to anything. With 30% of ballots already turned in it’s unlikely that they’ll make any difference. Where were the endorsements 2 months ago.

  9. Sadly the pantywaist Zuckerboy will win because the majority of Vermont voters are brain dead. I hope I am wrong.

  10. Shumlin’s quote is the best “I trust John” Coming from one of the most slippery of all former Govs, I’m sure he trusts John = to keep the secrets of the brethren – Kingdom Con job being one.

It is a very sad situation in the Green Mountain State. Exhibit A – the clown car of candidates, incumbents, and the flatuence of fellow clown endorsements. From top to bottom, the installed regime has a death grip on the power and control. So, death it shall be of our State. After this induced coma we’ve been in for decades, seeing it collapse into it’s own cellar hole is justified and warranted. After the funeral, perhaps in three days time, the resurrection will commence by those still here who have functioning brain matter and common sense. There is always hope!

  11. Besides having Democrat John Rogers now be a Republican run for Lt. Governor. An example of how screwed up the state of the Republican party is in Vermont, look no further than the Republican poster IT’S OUR TURN. You got a picture of King Philip the Scott 1st Eunuch King of Castrati in the middle of Trump & JD and Gerald Malloy. It’s one of two things. It’s either an oxymoron or blasphemy. There are good candidates like Kevin Hoyt and others we can write in, and they may lose but the choices they want to give us? Well why send a wolf when a weasel will do.

    https://vermontdailychronicle.com/its-our-turn-vermont/

The Jellyfish should replace the Elephant as the logo for the Republican Party in Vermont. It fits perfectly, spineless, brainless, heartless, eats its own, craps thru its mouth and is full of poison.

“A people who elect corrupt politicians, impostors, thieves and traitors are not victims but accomplices”. – George Orwell

  12. The problems in the Vermont statehouse have been caused by lazy and apathetic Vermont voters. It began with the voting in of the blatant communist Bernie Sanders and it has been downhill from there. I know John Rogers and he is a die-hard democrat who didn’t quite follow the dem party line and got ousted. No he wants to do the rino thing for the fat “stipend” awarded to the most corrupt b-stards in Vermont – the Vermont legislature and governor’s office. The Lt. Governor’s office is a brainless business, that’s why Phil Scott held it for so long.

Have the decency, at least, Vermonters, to vote for Malloy instead of comrade Bernie.

  13. It was a long haul to turn Republican Vermont to Blue Progressive. It won’t be easy turning Vermont back to Republican. However, Rogers is a good start. I’d rather meet in the middle, than not at all.

    • and this is exactly how the dems took over the republican party in the 1960’s…..get some “moderates’ in there. And this is how they are keeping control, but getting some “moderates” in there….Luke warm……

We can’t make a change if we don’t change. Moderates will not make any difference in Vermont because they will be cancelled, primaried, and out voted because we are a democracy by their standards, not a constitutional republic.

This is how they took over and how they, the uniparty maintains control.

Until you want to separate from the what is going on, you can’t possibly make a change. This is a scrap they are throwing us to give us an illusion that we have a say in the matter.

“This Argument” has been providing the VTGOP “victories” for the last 40 years, perhaps it’s time for some real direction.

  14. I only vote for people not afraid to say they support Trumps policy of cheap energy, peace, prosperity, and America first!! If you are awake and have a knowledge of history, you do know that the present day democrat party is Marxist leaning and the republican party is now closely aligned with what was your post WWII democrats.

  15. If only when zuckyman leaves he takes boornie mittens sanders with him to wherever he came from and never returns to Vermont again. That would be a great day for all Vermont residents for sure.
