Letters: Mattoon on remembering fallen Vermont submarine sailors

To the Editor:

On this Memorial Day of 2026, the Green Mountain Submarine Veterans Chapter of the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. (USSVI), remember the following Vermonters that lost their lives while serving in the Submarine Service during war and peace time.  These men who volunteered to serve in the Submarine Service, Always remembered; Not forgotten:

cmattoon@vermontel.net.  We would like to hear from you.  Though we are highlighting our Submarine shipmates here that lost their lives while on active duty; we extend to the families of all the Vermont Submarine Sailors that that have been lost and have served in the Submarine Service, our sincere gratitude and heartfelt sympathy.  To all the Service Member’s families that have lost loved ones through the years, their service and sacrifice in protecting our country is not forgotten; without them we would not have remained free for 250 years.
