Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans – As this term on the Windsor County GOP Committee comes to a close, Andrea and I want to express our heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to serve the Republicans of Windsor County and the Vermont Republican Party over the past two years. It’s been an honor to work alongside dedicated Vermonters who gave their time and energy in a grassroots effort to grow our Party and support our candidates.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday as we elect our leadership team to carry Windsor County forward. The county’s Republican spirit is growing strong — and we’re so proud to have accomplished our goal of having Republican Legislators that reflect the commonsense conservative voice of Windsor County.

Recognizing The County Exec Committee Leadership Team

Our success was built on teamwork. Earl and Peggy Dionne have been incredible leaders from the start — Earl serving as Committeeman, then Chair, and Peggy as Treasurer — together leading with energy, integrity, and a love of service. We proudly fulfilled our full two-year term, never giving up when things got tough standing up to the Democrat machine.

We’re also deeply grateful to Stu Lindberg (Finance Chair)Mike Todd (Delegate-at-Large)Patrick Danaher (Secretary)VL Coffin (Member-at-Large) and Sue and John Fallone, for stepping up to join the team and giving countless hours of tireless work. Special thanks as well to Roy and Kelly Spaulding, and Lynn and Joe Josselyn for their past service and contributions.

Special Highlights

A special shout-out to Stu Lindberg, our election-season MVP! With Stu’s fundraising and campaign strategy skills — and Peggy’s steady hand as Treasurer — we mounted an unprecedented countywide campaign in 2024: print and online ads, a new website, social media, text messaging, forums, and campaign events.

Together, we supported all 16 local candidates and led a coordinated get-out-the-vote effort across Windsor County. The results speak for themselves. We flipped THREE House seats, came within 100 votes of three more, and elected Republican Justices of the Peace in several towns for the first time in years. Flipping those house seats helped end the supermajority in Montpelier and ensured the Governor’s vetoes are sustained.

As a candidate herself, Andrea was the only Republican woman running for State Senate in Vermont — earning 12,318 votes – Second Highest Vote Total EVER in the history of all Windsor County Republican candidates, second only to John Carroll in 1992! All while still actively supporting fellow candidates across the county and state, even though we had to do it without VTGOP support since Windsor County was considered a lost cause. How do you like us now?!

Defending Grassroots Voices

At the 2023 reorganization, Windsor County had just 18 delegates from six towns. Andrea took the initiative to create the first ever New Member Packet that was shared state wide. Two years later, we grew to 54 delegates and 16 active town committees — and our Facebook group now includes nearly 800 local Republicans!

Over the past two years, we attended every State Committee meeting (and countless meetings & events statewide), loyally representing Windsor County while defending grassroots participation and Republican principles for all Vermont Republicans. We stood strong against a constant barrage of adverse rule changes proposed by the State Chair that would have dramatically increased a State Chair’s power while removing local committee rights of control and excluded local participation in Presidential Conventions. Together with the support of a majority of State delegates, we voted the measures down to successfully protect local control, access and fairness within the VTGOP.

Looking Ahead

Windsor County has proven that teamwork, party growth, and community outreach are the path forward. The future of the Vermont GOP is bright when we work together as a unified voice to focus on growing participation and getting-out-the-vote.

Andrea and I will continue our deep commitment to supporting our county, our candidates, and our shared conservative values.

Thank you for allowing us to serve — and for helping bring the Grand Old Party back to life in Windsor County!

With gratitude and respect,
August & Andrea Murray
