LaMarche: Becca Balint’s limp solidarity

Congresswoman Balint has joined the ranks of the lukewarm leftists

Last week, I embarked on a grand expedition to a bug-infested swamp – our glorious nation’s capital.

I was a delegate from Vermont to the Moral Poverty Action Congress of the Poor People’s Campaign (PPC), a non-partisan coalition. Though I enjoyed the enriching three-day convention, one particular incident stood out to me.

One of the more pivotal components of the convention’s program involved over 700 PPC members meeting with their respective congressional delegates.

For Vermonters in attendance that included meeting with Congresswoman Becca Balint (It’s worth noting, in case you haven’t heard it recently, that she holds the distinction of being the first woman and LGBTQ2S+++ individual elected to Congress from Vermont).

The meeting followed a simple format: VTPPC delegates had the opportunity to share their experiences, statistical data, and advocacy for the eradication of poverty in the U.S. Moreover, VTPPC delegates informed Balint about a resolution that would be introduced hours later, urging her to co-sponsor the resolution as a statement of her support. Certainly a progressive like Balint would lend her support to such a movement, right?

Alas, despite receiving a substantial packet of information for her staff to peruse, despite directly meeting with VTPPC members and even posing for a photograph with them, and despite being told about the forthcoming resolution, Balint’s professed solidarity waned. And her name remains absent from the list of co-sponsors even as of today.

Ash Hickey, a healthcare worker and VTPPC member who attended the meeting, wrote a letter to Balint after she realized the congresswoman never signed on to the resolution. Hickey wrote in part “I was disappointed to hear today that you were not on the list as one of the many representatives in support of our Resolution for the Poor People’s Campaign. I hoped and expected, because you were able to take time to snap a picture with us showing your support, and being the progressive candidate from Vermont, your name to have been on the list.”

But it wasn’t just Balint’s inaction that was frustrating. It was also her behavior.

Ronni Liddell, a community advocate, public speaker, and VTPPC member, recounted the meeting telling me, “I felt just as overlooked as I do when the Mayor of Burlington passes me on a pretty regular basis and has never once bothered to learn and remember my name. I honestly did not hold high hopes of being heard but I felt as if I was so beneath [Balint] in class and experience that she did not bother to relate to me as a human being.”

It seems Congresswoman Balint has joined the ranks of the lukewarm leftists who regrettably tarnish the image of progress and who make calling myself a leftist an even harder pill to swallow.

On another note, during my Hilton stay, Snapchat’s map feature kindly informed me that just a short elevator ride down and a casual amble through the revolving doors would grant me the privilege of standing where Ronald Reagan took a bullet. Tough luck to the Teflon president.

  1. Kolby, haven’t you learned yet.. “They” don’t care about you, not one iota .. Becca Balint, is not there for Vermont. She took her FTX money and went to Washington applauding herself for being able to pull the wool over the eyes of Vermonters just like the rest of our Washington delegation, along with the leftist state legislators. George Carlin said it best, “there’s a club and you ain’t in it” …. I fear there is only one way this will end, sadly.

  2. Moral Poverty Center? Where do they get these names? There is nothing moral about poverty. A condecending and repugnant use of words. Akin to the Southern Poverty Center, where 8 out of 10 poorest states in the nation are in the South. Planned Parenthood? Enough said. As far as Becca, Peter, and Bernie – their partisanship and their Masters make them what they are – puppets. They are so enamoured with money, they represent only themselves and the minority fringe they pretend to support.

  3. Oh dear, so sorry for your troubles. Here….let me help you reach Becca! She has several toll free lines. Just dial any of the following

    1 – 800 – DIR – TY$$

    1 – 800 – FTS – INGH

    1 – 800 – MYF – RAUD

    1 – 800 – DRK – MONY

    1 – 800 – BIG – LIES

    1 – 800 – HI – JACK

    1 – 800 – POS – EURR

  4. Even though she is a recent addition to congress in the party of slavery and Jim Crow, she learns quickly who butters her bread and which groups to pander to. If you want the attention of Becca, you need to offer her a big bag of cash and say it is from a LGBT+%* advocacy group. Being poor no longer qualifies as high enough on the victimhood scale all by itself to get the attention of a congressperson. You need to combine it with 1 or 2 other victimhood statuses.

  5. For the left’s agendas to be disrespected like this has got to have been painful. To get a hint that your worldview might be wobbly theology can be traumatic. This insight into their trials deserves our sympathy. Let’s keep them in our prayers.

  6. Okay, let’s start with this: There is no way Becca was “elected”. Rather she was “selected” as were all in VT political positions right now. Don’t kid yourself. After all, it was made painfully clear that she belongs to a group who practice (dare I say this?) aberrant behavior. Why do I have to know that??? Oh, that’s right-that’s her credentials!!!!!!

What she recently did not sign does not concern me.

What DOES concern me is this: I want to see for myself if she signed the necessary paperwork to validate that she said her oath of office. There are too many In Power right now who have NOT signed THEIR paperwork validating their oath of office was actually done. NOT Biden, NOT Kamala…and there’s a lot more. Nationwide. Which boils down to Becca is impersonating an elected official. If that’s the case whatever she’s done, signed or endorsed does not exist legally.

How do ya like them apples?

I’ve been seeing for way too long people preferring to believe what is not true b/c truth is apparently way too uncomfortable. One might just get a niggle at the brain saying: Wait a minute…what did I do to help make this happen? But of course, what I propose is blasphemy.

Well, let me blaspheme once more: Ignoring reality does not make it go away. It makes it more powerful; it feeds it. To be brutally honest, your mindless obedience to lies is COSTING ME. YOU are affecting MY life b/c YOU PREFER TO BELIEVE anything but the truth. And I am plumb out of understanding and sympathy.

  7. This just goes to show the bought and paid for Vermont’s Rep Balint,
and her priority, telling the world she’s part of the LGBT+%* alphabet
    crowd…..now that’s special !!

Try doing something for Vermont, like being financially independent instead
of being financially in debt, we don’t care what your sexual preference is !!

Do the job you were elected to do …………………………………….

  8. Kolby, does Ellie Martin still talk with you? You’ve taken a wrong left turn. The CCP must love you.

  9. Can’t believe Vermonters were stupid enough to send Balint to Washington!
I’m sure that she has plans leapfrog into the Senate when Bernie retires!
    God Help Us!

  10. Liked the article Kolby, good job. I wouldn’t have been so nice though and added in the fact that she seems to only like to be involved in things she can take credit for , basically from the get go, or anything in which she can raise her LGBTQ +*336:;-7&&;+ flag to remind us that she is a lesbian who’s in Congress from Vermont ( for like the thousandth time). Has she done anything that doesn’t involve pushing her LGBTQ+$@_4765+ ? I haven’t seen it, not on the main stream VT channels ( and they always trip over themselves when it comes to news on Becca). Case in point, your PPC. She had the opportunity to do more than take a picture with your campaign, but to sign, maybe even make a comment about the poor in VT, and she chose not to. Huh, isn’t that something. But, you wanna know what she did choose to do? She chose to go to the first ever Newport PRIDE parade, where she was, (and I’m screaming this loudly) the GRAND MARSHALL of the pride. Wanna know what else she is choosing to do? She is proposing the first ever LGBTQIA + and womens educational act. Do you see the pattern here? ( Btw if anyone is interested in fact checking what I’ve said both videos can all be found on WCAX ). She’s a waste of a seat and when her seat comes up again, I pray people have seen the light to not make the same mistake twice. But hey, we live in VT, so most likely not.

    • Gay rights haven’t been in danger in VT for decades, at least. Front Porch Forum illegally denied a gay candidate, Christopher Aaron Felker, a place in a crucial debate. Whose rights are really being violated?

  12. I don’t believe for one minute that Becca was elected by voters. More likely she was installed because she can be bought. FTX anyone?
