Suspect wanted by ICE crashes into vehicles, flees
By Mike Donoghue, Vermont News First
A dangerous suspect wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement crashed into law enforcement vehicles and fled the scene in South Burlington this morning, officials said.
Investigators have a home at 337 Dorset Street surrounded, and a search warrant is reportedly being sought from a federal judge to enter the residence and seized the wanted suspect, officials said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Vermont declined comment on the active criminal investigation.
Supporters of Migrant Justice and others were at the scene yelling at ICE agents and offering support for the wanted suspect.
The South Burlington Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 report of a motor vehicle accident near 345 Dorset Street involving multiple vehicles about 7:38 a.m., police said.
Police Chief William Breault said city officers responded to the area and located an unoccupied car with extensive damage in the northbound travel lane of Dorset Street near Brookwood Drive.
He said police found a second damaged vehicle in the southbound lane of Dorset Street in the area of 435 Dorset Street. Two other damaged vehicles were found in the parking lot of the Dorset Commons apartment complex, across from the Tuttle Middle School, the chief said.
Breault said a preliminary investigation determined that federal agents with ICE attempted to apprehend an individual, believed to be associated with the area of 345 Dorset Street, when the suspect fled in a vehicle.
ICE agents attempted to box in the vehicle in the parking lot of 435 Dorset Street, an apartment complex. The vehicle again fled, resulting in damage to several ICE vehicles. As the wanted car fled, it collided with a vehicle traveling south. The operator and sole occupant of that vehicle was uninjured, the chief said.
The individual that ICE was seeking to detain abandoned his vehicle in the northbound lane of Dorset Street and fled on foot.
South Burlington Police Department were never made aware of the immigration enforcement activity due to a state policy that mandates no cooperation, officials said.
Breault said police only became aware as a result of the car crash on Dorset Street, which is a four-lane divided highway.
Police later learned from ICE officials the federal agents had responded to the area of 345 Dorset Street seeking to locate and detain a man related on a federal administrative warrant related to the individual’s immigration status.
The individual fled, resulting in the vehicle collisions, the chief said.
Federal agents believe that the individual returned to an apartment at 337 Dorset Street, and agents surrounded the building while awaiting the approval of a federal criminal warrant.
The chief said ICE requested assistance from the South Burlington Police due to a crowd of individuals protesting in the area, which is just south of the University Mall.
South Burlington officers responded and remain in the area with the purpose of ensuring the safety of federal law enforcement as well as the unimpeded ability for individuals to protest, the chief said.
Breault said police did not assist federal agents with the enforcement of the federal immigration violation.

And there it is folks, the reason why these illegals feel they can do whatever they want. This is a sanctuary state, don’t let anyone tell you different. This will eventually get someone hurt, mark my words.
The subject is clearly an fine example of why our immigration policies need to be questioned. I mean, it’s not like his actions while trying to evade compliance put anybody in danger . Right ?.

What a cluster! Too many people without a clue and with TOO much time on their hands. If only the suspect had plowed into some supporters cars, maybe they might not feel so supportive. I drove by this fiasco at around 11:00 AM this morning, there were probably 50 people all crowding around. Great idea crowding, shouting, shoving…all while a law enforcement operation is going down, it’s no wonder people end up getting shot. If people are upset about immigration enforcement, perhaps they should contact their “representatives”, so called and encourage them to actually address the immigration issue. NOBODY in congress wants to talk about it. Obviously there are numerous illegal immigrants here who are minding their business and working in various industries, and if they were suddenly gone tomorrow we would all feel the effects. We all know if we pulled benefits for welfare, that wouldn’t help to replace the loss of immigrants…because the majority of welfare recipients have long forgotten how to get out of bed and show up on time for a job, if they ever knew at all. We need to figure out how to streamline immigration of people who want a better life and are willing to contribute (AND assimilate) to society. We also need to make sure NO criminal elements come here and to enforce a no tolerance policy of criminal activity for people who are trying get legal status. In the meantime laws (laws written by our representatives) need to be enforced. Don’t like the law: change the law, DON’T b!tch that it’s being enforced! 😡
“We need to figure out how to streamline immigration of people who want a better life and are willing to contribute (AND assimilate) to society”. This is the immigrant to champion. There seems to be little argument to this.
Migrant justice needs to be implemented in obstruction of justice.
All law enforcement need to be supportive and assisting any other law Enforcement organization.
As a retired Law Enforcement Officer, I’m ashamed of our leaders allowing local police to turn their backs on our brothers in arms.
8 USC 1357 and 8 USC 1225 no warrants needed for illegal immigrant pickup for deportation even for overstaying Visa. Article 3 (US District Courts, etc.) Judges have no jurisdiction in deportation cases, only Article 2 (Immigration) Judges and definitely State Courts have no jurisdiction or say in the matter!
While we are being entertained by the ICE raid, Iran is bombing the hell out of Israel and our military bases that are over there. Not many comments about this issue on this website.
Mday, not sure your point, maybe because it’s apples and oranges…
Ice actions are mainly a result of an open border we were lied to for four years it was secure..
Iran, is a terrorist nation,, securing a nuclear bomb, that has shown they don care who they try to kill.
Both issues have been anything but secret from the news..
Just trying to be fair, honest and unafraid…
Thank you Mr. Fraga for your comment and what most people are afraid of is the price of fuel and how it will cost more for everything with inflation. TEL. LIE VISION is a propaganda operation with very little news. Now we all want to be fair and honest.
The public safety officers on hand of all jurisdictions put up with way too much abuse, both verbal and physical before their most justified use of irritant spray and other non-lethal deterrents to the unlawful riot. They all take an oath to uphold the Constitution, whereas maybe the antifa/migrant justice thugs take some kind of an oath but it is certainly not to the Constitution. Looks like a job well done by those enforcing our immigration laws, and a very effective job done by the mob of making asses of themselves, trying to emulate their anarchist comrades across the land.
seems like a bunch of performance artists.
Refugees from Burlington’s canceled
Festival of fools.
