

A homeless man was arrested on Wednesday morning, August 30 after an attempted bank robbery in Morristown, according to local police.
Steven Royce, 34, was taken into custody at approximately 8:47 a.m. following a reported attempted robbery at the Community National Bank located at 116 Vermont Route 15.
Law enforcement was able to identify and locate Royce based on a description provided by communication specialists at the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch.
Royce was charged with Assault and Robbery, according to Detective Christopher Tetreault of the Morristown Police Department.
He was transported to Lamoille Superior Court where he was held without bail. Royce is currently lodged at the North East Regional Correctional Center in Saint Johnsbury.
This is not Royce’s first run-in with the law. Over the past several weeks, he has been arrested and charged a total of six times for crimes related to retail theft.
The Morristown Police Department extended their thanks to the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department, Stowe Police Department, and the Vermont State Police for their assistance in the case.
Montpelier couple charged with child cruelty after drug overdose – A Montpelier couple was arrested on charges of child cruelty after a reported double drug overdose at a motel on Northfield Street on August 23, police said.
According to an announcement from the Montpelier Police Department, officers and the Montpelier Ambulance Service responded to the scene at 7:31 p.m.
The officers and medical personnel administered Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of narcotics, to the couple who were found incapacitated in the motel room.
The couple, both 38, were identified as domestic partners with an infant in their care at the time of the incident.
The Vermont Department for Children and Families was notified and the child was placed in the care of an adult family member.
The Montpelier Police Department has not released the names of the suspects at this time.
Stolen ATVS – Police are investigating a theft of three ATVs that occurred in Brookfield, state police say.
The ATVs were stolen from a garage on the property of a home on Halfway Brook Road at around 1:05 p.m.
Police say the ATVs were described as a green Arctic Cat 500, a brown with camouflage pattern Polaris Sportsman 567cc, and a green 2004 Yamaha model YM400 Kodiak400.
The vehicles were stolen sometime between August 21, and August 31.
