Roll call shows Sims voted twice for property tax hike before announcing Senate run

By Paul Bean
Governor Scott took to social media last week to affirm his support of GOP Senate candidate Sam Douglass after his opponent, Katherine Sims, made a misleading social media post where it appeared as she and the Governor were aligned even though Sam Douglass had already received Governor Scott’s endorsement.
On October 11 Sims posted on her campaign Facebook page:

“There she goes again. Katherine Sims is trying to hide her record.” Writes Douglass on October 12 in his response to Sim’s post which also featured a 90 second clip where she paired up Governor Scotts most recent campaign video where he talks about electing more “common sense voters,” and a video of herself giving examples of where she has voted with the Governor.
On October 14 Governor Scott replied in the comments on Douglass’s post:

“She was on the committee that drafted this year’s property tax hike, and voted for it in committee and on the floor,” Douglass said in his post. “She voted for a new payroll tax, a 20% hike in DMV fees, and has voted to override many of the Governor’s vetoes during her short time in the house. I’m proud to have the endorsement of Governor Phil Scott. He knows that my allegiance is to the NEK, and I’ll always be fighting with him to make Vermont more affordable for you.”
As a State Representative, Sims voted twice to override the Governor on the Clean Heat Standard, once in 2022 and in 2023. In 2024 on the Ways and Means Committee she voted for the yield bill that contained the 14% property tax increase. The roll call shows that Sims voted for the property tax increase bill twice on the floor: first on April 23 for second reading and then again on April 24 for third reading.
In the House journal Sims explained her vote: “I vote yes to bring immediate relief to property taxpayers this year, to put in place cost containment measures for next year, and to set us on the path to rethink the funding formula for the future. We are going slow to go fast.”
On Monday April 29, Sims announced her campaign for State Senate in Orleans County. Following her announcement, during the June 17 veto session she did NOT vote to override the Governor on the property tax increase bill, going against her party. The vote to override passed 103-42.
Last Friday afternoon on Friday at Four, Sam Douglass joined us on Creemee Cast to give us an update on this situation as well as an update on his campaign. Click here to find the VDCTV YouTube page

Appears Sims speaks with fork tongue. Typical Democrat hoping the gullible shepople take notice.
The damage is already done, it’ doesn’t matter if she lies, because they will all believe her, nobody will see what the governor said and nobody in the Vermont press, except VDC will report it, Doubtful there will be any effect upon the election because of this.
VTDEM have probably sent out 20 texts/emails etc in support of her to 80% of the Vermont population. Sun Tzu….we are dealing with asymmetric warfare.
Know yourself, know your enemy live to fight another day. If we have catestrophic results for the 4th decade in a row, it might suggest the VTGOP doesn’t know itself or the enemy.
Time will tell.
While everyone’s focus is on the two stooges running for president, this stuff far more impacts us on a day to day basis. Vote accordingly.
It appears that Sims is your typical DemocRAT, spewing falsehoods until you get caught, and then blaming someone else, or pleading ignorance to the statements.
Wake up people help save the state from financial ruin , and vote for Sam Douglass and every other GOP candidate !!!
Caveat emptor, VDC readers…. clearly there’s a sea change in Vermont’s political landscape occurring. The Prog/Dems are dawning their sheep’s clothing in droves, while projecting their extraordinary gaslighting political malfeasance on conservatives. The jig is up.
Re: “Fiscal restraint. We need to be spending as little of their tax dollars as possible to provide them the best quality of services as we can.”
I’ve lived here in Vermont for 48 years. I’ve started a couple of businesses, employed hundreds of Vermonters, raised two kids, educated them in our public school system, and served on school boards and planning commissions. As a ‘reasonable’ Vermonter, here’s my question for Messrs. Douglass, Bean and Page.
Who in the world would ever say they weren’t in favor of fiscal restraint and spending as few tax dollars as possible for the best quality of services as we can? Am I missing something here? What, specifically, are you guys talking about?
HOW are you going to be fiscally responsible? What in the world does any of what you’ve been talking about mean? What about the Clean Heat Standard? What about School Choice? Do any of you know the difference between a ‘defined benefit’ retirement program and a ‘defined contribution’ program? Which of those two programs is manageable, and which one is infinitely expensive? If you honestly believe that cutting CO2 emissions will save the environment, explain how that works, and how we can possibly afford to do it without committing mass suicide.
Clearly, you don’t know. And while you may be the nicest people on the planet, nice doesn’t pay my mortgage, put a roof over my head, feed my kids, or heat my house. All you can talk about is Trump’s rudeness, not his policies. And you ignore the utter nonsense espoused by Kamala Harris. It’s no wonder Vermont is on a downward spiral.
“Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm; but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.”
My prediction: More crickets. The sound of silence…. my old friend.
Shape shifting, slicker than deer guts on a door knob, politically drowning, grasping at straws, sell her soul, for a vote, Dem leftist, showing her true colors.
Vote every left wingnut out!
VOTE GOP…VOTE TEAM TRUMP!
You are correct, vote the bums out. If that concept cuts deep enough, maybe we can change the leadership inthe party, which is sorely needed.
Just check the photo.
This is gaslighting 101 -had enough !
Sims is another globalist, Soros funded, CCP operative, carpet bagging grifter courtesy of Taxachusetts: For your review and consideration, – she’s a grifter and mighty proud of it! See how many “boards” she’s on – a certified, connected, selected hog at the trough. (Reads just like Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak and so many other installed SJW’s)
“Katherine graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s in history (skull and bones?) ”
“…passionate about bringing people together to create positive change for communities. She was born in Massachusetts and moved to Vermont over 20 years ago to work on a dairy farm. A dynamic nonprofit leader with over ten years of experience as a practitioner and consultant, Katherine has worked with leaders in business, government, and nonprofits to develop their organizations (*to pad her bank account and further her Master’s agenda.)
Katherine is currently an independent consultant to nonprofits, (*for profit or is she a 501c3? or 4) helping to build their organizations through fundraising plans, leadership development, and succession planning. Prior to that, she served as the Director of the Northeast Kingdom Collaborative, which drives economic and community development by identifying priorities across sectors and taking action. In 2007, she founded the nonprofit Green Mountain Farm-to-School ” (*See how NEK is thriving in economic prosperity for all her efforts!)
“Katherine has deepened her understanding of Vermont’s challenges and opportunities as a board member of the Vermont Land Trust, Northeast Kingdom Community Broadband, the Vermont Telecommunications & Connectivity Advisory Board, the Vermont Council on Rural Development, UVM Extension, and Craftsbury Saplings. Most recently, she served as a member of the NVU Strong Committee, which was tasked with developing financially sustainable solutions that will ensure a strong and thriving future for Northern Vermont University for generations to come”
*Northern Vermont University – f/k/a Johnson College and Lyndon State – financially ruined by grifters and mismanagement. Now merged to continue the grift, the indoctrination, the social engineering, and indebted servitude.
