Fireovid: wrote gender identity op-ed, lost government contract

 by Robert Fireovid

The State of Vermont now uses taxpayer-funded agents to discriminate against a business if the owner disagrees with Democratic ideology. Banana republic – Yes. Political cronyism – Yes. Totalitarianism – Yes. That’s the kind of government we now have in Vermont.

Robert Fireovid

A specific example is the Northwest Regional Planning Commission (NRPC), which gets most of its funding from the State. Last year, I wrote an article for the Vermont Daily Chronicle warning parents that the public schools might be teaching their children about gender fluidity.

My article did not attack or blame anyone who identifies as transgender. I merely warned parents that the schools may be encouraging children to wonder if they are transgender. By doing so, schools encourage minors to disconnect from their physical reality and possibly mutilate their bodies for no good reason.

Because I wrote this warning to parents, the NRPC cancelled a contract my wife and I had with them. They told us flat out – my article was the only reason they cut us off, and they refused to discuss the matter with me. When we informed our State legislators, who happen to be Republican, of NRPC’s discrimination, their response was that they can’t do anything about citizen oppression committed by State agents because Democrats have ironclad control of the State legislature.

When one political party has way too much power, that party can easily punish and strongarm anyone and everyone who disagrees with their ideas, even if those ideas are ridiculous and injurious.  We need balance back in Montpelier; or else the banana republic, political cronyism, and totalitarianism befouling Vermont will continue. Maybe you or one of your loved ones will be the next victim. Please get everyone you know to vote this November. Thank you!

The author is a Grand Isle County resident. His December 29, 2021 op-ed did not refer to any specific school, nor did it reference the NRPCVT generically or by name. The NRCPVT statement of inclusion pledges to celebrate diversity, including gender identity, in all of its policies and practices.

  1. I’m sorry you lost that contract, it’s a sign of the times we live in for sure.

I’m just asking but did you verify they can terminate the contract for this reason? If not I’d be getting a lawyer involved, if not to recoup money but at the very least to teach them a lesson. If they did it to you they’re going to do it to others, and there is no end to this madness without patriots putting their foot down, if not with a lawyer, it will end up being on the commies necks.

  2. This may very well be a title 9 or title 14 violation.
I’m not an attorney so you need to consult one, who has experience in these matter ASAP.

  3. We are shocked and dismayed by stories like this as if it’s an extreme exception. It’s not! It has become the standard. The authoritarian insistence that we “stay in line” or they’ll come for us has become the condition of our lives. Insistent orthodoxy and the hunt for heretics has happened before and it doesn’t end well. The American
(Vermont) antidote is resistance…Individual liberty prevails. Make a noise citizens.

  4. I’m so sick & tired of hearing the “opposition party” crying that there’s NOTHING they can do to prevent the democrats from censoring/silencing people’s RIGHT to FREEDOM of speech or to discriminate against them in employment matters because they are in the minority.

Show me exactly WHERE in the US or VT Constitution any citizen can be a victim of discrimination or lose their rights to freedom of speech & expression by a political party when or if that party comprises the majority in Congress! It does NOT.

Lawyers & republicans continue to kowtow to the free-wheeling insane lawless actions of the democrats attempting to protect their OWN hides & their own self interests. Remember cowards: And then they came for……YOU!!!!!!!!!

  5. IMPORTANT ARTICLE. “By doing so, schools encourage minors to disconnect from their physical reality and possibly mutilate their bodies for no good reason.” Well said!
I had no idea this happened to you, but I relate as I have been blacklisted by the Barre Times and the Free Press only because my submissions no longer supported their leftist vision. This was after decades of contributing aricles and op-eds,

  6. Acts of desperation and malfeasance against US citizens reminiscent of Germany circa 1934. Entrepreneurs who wish to conduct commerce rather than social engineering should now rise to establish the parallel economy. There are many opportunities and many voids to fill now. Those with God on their side will prevail and prosper beyond measure. The time is now to take authority over those who wish to destroy our Country, our State, and our way of life. Above all, remove all support from any business that does not support our God given right of freedom. Our civil and constitutional rights are not for them to remove or violate – ever.

      • I no longer shop in Burlington or Montpelier. I do not shop at area businesses who mandated masks, post certain signage or flags, or present images in their advertising that represent “woke” far-left ideology or particular symbols listed on a certain FBI list. Also, national corporations and financial institutions, particularly big banks such as Bank of America, JP Morgan, Wal-Mart, Hollywood productions, music from artists with questionable agendas, etc. Many are saying to contact advertisers on “woke” media broadcasts to issue complaints and withdraw support if they finance an anti-America agenda or propaganda. The citizens hold incredible power with their purchasing power. Adjusting habits and support accordingly isn’t that hard when it is necessary to safeguard liberty, justice and freedom for all. Speaking out and taking a stand is how we fight back.

  7. Marina Brown, my erstwhile “groomer”, is a public figure. My literary and photographic skills were welcomed and utilized, exploited, until I began asking questions and engaging in online debates that probed the nature of what was going on. Then I became a liability.
Now Brown, a public figure in VT, objects to any negative exposure and threatens action against people who allow my opinions.
    That is “woke”.

    • Hey Scott, genuine questions, what do you think words mean? This reads like someone had a stroke after smoking a shredding VHS of an InfoWars broadcast.

    • The obsession you have with this poor woman is truly bizarre. You need to get some help.

  8. I think that Scott Norman Rosenthal is viewing the world through the lens of his anger over his interaction with the medical establishment in the past. While he may have legitimate concerns about that it’s not fair to transfer this anger to a single individual because he holds a grudge about a disagreement he had years ago with a group she belonged to and because of the loss of her friendship. The issues need to be debated on the merits of the evidence not on interpersonal relationships.
