Middle-schooler reported threat to resource officer
Vermont State Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a reported threat targeting Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax.
The threat was received by a middle-school student on Wednesday.
According to authorities, the student received an anonymous call on her cellphone from an unknown person who threatened violence at the school. The student reported the call to the school resource officer, prompting an immediate response from VSP and FCSO.
After searching the building and speaking with the student who received the threatening call, police found no evidence to indicate the threat was credible. However, in an abundance of caution, school officials cancelled most after-school activities and made the decision to cancel class tomorrow.
Police continue to investigate the origin of the threat. Anyone with information that may assist investigators in this case is asked to call the Vermont State Police in St. Albans at 802-524-5993. – Newport Dispatch
