Ehlers: When the coin in the coffer rings, the corporate carbon credit springs

Ask your representative at Town Meeting how they will vote on S.5, activist recommends

the medieval selling of indulgences is regaining popularity, in the form of carbon credits

by James Ehlers

James Ehlers

“Just as in the 15th and 16th centuries you could sleep with your sister and kill and lie without fear of eternal damnation, today you can live exactly as you please as long as you give your ducats to one of the companies selling indulgences. It is pernicious and destructive nonsense.”

Worked well, back in the day, for the rich … not so much for us serfs and peasants.

Fast forward.

Now, in 2023, Senator Philip Baruth and the Vermont Democratic Party are at the altar, offering siblings Green Mountain Power and  Vermont Gas Systems pardon for their incestual relationship under Mama Energir.

S. 5 will have us, however, not them, paying for their sins.

How will your state rep vote on this investor/polluter dream scheme? Ask them at Town Meeting. Record their answer.

Read more here about licenses to pollute, an issue those of us on the outside have been raising for decades:

Please also ask the media to stop portraying the fossil fuel industry and the “renewable” industry as foes and to follow the money.  Encourage them, though, to knock before they enter the boardroom. It’ll be very awkward seeing everyone without their masks on in compromising heat pump positions.

  1. ARE SOME MEMBERS OF THE VERMONT STATE LEGISLATURE (KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY) IN CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY TO CREATE A MONOPOLY BY PUTTING MANY FULE OIL NO. 2 DEALERS OUT OF BUSINESS (and then hiring their employees) IF S.5 “AFFORDABLE HEATING ACT” IS ENACTED INTO LAW and forces (by the extortion of taxes) Vermonters to switch from fuel oil and to > heat their homes with electricity? Who owns Green Mountain Power?
Gaz Metro LP’s wholly-owned subsidiary Northern New England Energy Corporation owns 100% of the common equity of Green Mountain. Énergir, formerly known as Gaz Métro, is an energy company with 520,000 customers in Quebec and the northeastern United States. It is the largest natural gas distribution company in Quebec, and, through subsidiaries, also produces electricity from wind.
    Parent organization: Noverco Inc.
    Headquarters: Montreal, Quebec
Canada King Charles proclaimed Canada’s new head of state.
Sep 10, 2022 — TORONTO (AP) — King Charles III was officially proclaimed Canada’s monarch Saturday in a ceremony in Ottawa.
I suspect Green Mountain Power and the Vermont State Legislature and the involved Lobbyists and PACs who are promoting S. 5 “affordable heating act” might knowingly be in conspiracy to violate federal monopoly laws. Someone would have to take them to court and subpoena all the suspicious Lobbyists and PACs as well as the VT State Legislators. If many home heating fuel or propane companies are put out of business in Vermont because of S. 5, then they may merge with Green Mountain Power, or be the subject of acquistions by Green Mountain Power to steal their employees. Section 7 of the Clayton Act prohibits mergers and acquisitions where the effect “may be substantially to lessen competition, or to tend to create a monopoly.” As amended by the Robinson-Patman Act of 1936, the Clayton Act also bans certain discriminatory prices, services, and allowances in dealings between merchants.

Please share this with your state Rep. and Senator. The poorest person affected by S.5 “affordable heating act” can request the federal court give them an informa pauperis form to proceed without court fees in federal court. What if a state violates federal law? The U.S. Constitution declares that federal law is “the supreme law of the land.” As a result, when a federal law conflicts with a state or local law, the federal law will supersede the other law or laws.

  2. This government is a sinking ship that doesn’t want to give us the lifeboats. It’s time to wake up and realize this houseboat is on fire 🔥. Is the Brooklyn working class former Burlington mayor anywhere to be found? Who’s really steering this Titanic?
It’s literally time to bail from this and vote our way to independence for our once and future republic.
