Connecticut woman dies in Mt. Holly snowmobile accident

A Connecticut woman died yesterday in a snowmobile crash in the Rutland County town of Mt. Holly.

According to Vermont State Police, at 3:13 pm March 10 troopers from the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks were notified of a single snowmobile crash on VAST Trail RD 79, near Yale Road South, off Government Road.

Operator Judy Catalano, 52, of Madison, CT, was riding a Yamaha SXR 500 and traveling south on VAST Trail RD 79, navigating a left curve, when she went off the trail. She was traveling at approximately 20-mph and exited the snowmobile hitting her head on a tree.

She was wearing a DOT approved helmet, police said. She was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
