The Vermonters for Vermont Initiative is hosting a U.S. Constitution Day celebration of the signing of our Nation’s Constitution, adopted 236 years ago on September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia.
VFVI is hosting a celebration on Saturday, 16 September at 11 AM on the steps of the Vermont State Capitol on State Street in Montpelier.
People will read parts of the Constitution. Plus, we have two main speakers; Vermont Law School Professor, Peter Teachout, a Constitutional authority here in Vermont, and Rob Roper, the former President of the Ethan Allen Institute and authority on Vermont public policy. There will be Patriotic song-sing alongs, children’s activities and a lot of conversation. Wayne Canney and Martha Hafner will lead our music program.
“Our Constitution is the law of the land here in America, it is a sacred document that has repeatedly met the challenges over it’s 236th year life, creating Freedom, Liberty, Independence, and innovation to protect all people living here and who come to America” said Gregory Thayer, Principal at Vermonters for Vermont.
“So, join us, pack up your family and friends and come share in celebrating our great American document,” Thayer said.
