Planet Hank explains how he got started/ AFP explains why they’re in Vermont – video from September 18 gathering in Barre
by Guy Page
Seth Fewer and Javion Kastner are freshman at Spaulding High School in Barre. Last night they attended the Americans For Prosperity legislative forum in Barre, where they told VDC about their plans to start Vermont’s (for now) only high school Turning Point USA club.
Since June, Seth – a big Charlie Kirk fan who like many still speaks of the slain Turning Point USA founder in the present tense – has been trying to start a local TPUSA club. His friend Javion came on board a while later after talking to Seth about it. They need a Spaulding teacher to sponsor the club. It’s one of the requirements of TPUSA. Three have been approached. No-one’s said yes yet.
UVM has a TPUSA club. Since Kirk’s death on September 10, teens from seven Vermont high schools are among the 54,000 nationwide seeking to open new chapters, Seth said.
Last night the teens met adults promising support and were interviewed by Brattleboro photo journalist “Planet Hank” Poytras and the Vermont Daily Chronicle .
Javion Kastner (at right) of Barre explains why he and Seth Fewer (at left) are trying to start a TPUSA club in Barre: “It’s the importance of getting kids our age interested in politics and more educated and involved.”
In the second video (directly above), the interviewer is Hank “Planet Hank” Poytras of Brattleboro. Two years ago he started Brattleboro News, in which the film school grad shoots on-the-scene video of police encounters with drug sellers, users and other lawbreakers. Now he also offers a Planet Hank in-studio video podcast. Below, Hank – also the new Brattleboro GOP town chair – describes how Brattleboro News began with his pursuit, camera-in-hand, of someone who stole his bike. VDC video below:
Inside the Elks Lodge, AFP Northeast Regional Director Ross Connolly described how their many interviews with Vermonters continue to point out one overriding problem: “Without a doubt, the number one thing we kept hearing was affordability. Vermont is simply unaffordable. Housing costs, health insurance costs, taxes, too many regulations that are restricting the economy.”

This is really great to hear. I have only lived in Vermont for three years but I just couldn’t understand how all these conservative people ote for the left? I mean these people in Vermont are hard working people with conservative values and they are just not tuned in to what the two parties stand for right now. I guess you would say they are low information voters. They have been captured by the left and the GOP has not done a good job of influencing them with the information they need to vote for Conservative candidates. Now this is only what I see anecdotally around me. I could be wrong. But I don’t think so.
The sadness of UVM with over 12,000 undergrad student population, and TPUSA is inactive. (I realize much of that population is remote)
I question (not accuse) is there some type of retaliation from the UVM administration for participating in TPUSA ? (such as lower grades, etc)
For those who pray, . . . there is your prayer assignment !
HOWEVER
Very proud of our two High Schoolers in Barre.
trying to post this video of Charlie Kirk, it’s interesting, I disagree with the last bit, which isn’t Charlie Kirk talking……tried to get the video implanted but You Tube has already taken it down. Can’t let people see love, can’t let people see the truth.

My hat is off to these two young men and those that are supporting their mission to encourage other students to at least listen to “the other side”. Hopefully, more of our Vermont high schools will follow suit. God bless America!
It will be difficult for these young people to find a sponsor in the VT School System I believe. Aside from being a liberal State, I believe that teachers are supposed to maintain an unbiased opinion regarding politics. Whether they always do that may be questionable but finding a sponsor will be difficult. I don’t know just how the rules of TPUSA work and who made the rules but perhaps finding a retired teacher for a sponsor would be advisable. I admire their desire and courage to do this though.
Vermont public schools:
-Rainbow flag…allowed, encouraged
-Transgender flag…allowed, encouraged
-Black Lives Matter flag…allowed, pretty much mandatory
-any symbolism of western religion, and now especially Turning Point USA…strictly verboten!
Well done Gentlemen.
What a blessing for now and future generations !
The TPUSA chapter at UVM is currently inactive. Is the club mentioned in this article something different?
These two kids chose not to believe the progressive lie that everything is for free.
There’s hope for Vermont!
How to spot a propaganda outlet.
How to recognize Astro turf.
How to recognize an NGO political operative.
Vtdigger, has yet to say a word about this assassination that has rocked the world.
Just look at what is in their front page, it is so obvious that they are NOT a news organization but a political operative, they should lose their non-profit news status.
The VT.GOP will say and do nothing, not even a strongly worded letter.
What you say and don’t say often exposes you heart and true intentions.
Same for wcax
Turning Point is a multi million dollar operation being financed by some not named donors. Looks like a lot of money is to be made if you are part of this operation. Comment from Richard Day.
TPUSA’s annual budget is around $8M. It relies on donations for much of it’s funding, which mostly come from conservative-leaning donors and politicians as you would expect. There are sites that list the largest donors.
Recently, Benjamin Netanyahu offered Charlie $150M for TPUSA but he turned it down. He didn’t want to be beholden to anyone.
Feneralized statements. Charlie Kirk didn’t make a lot on money from it. You have links?
Im sorry you’re struggling Richard.
Correction on my last Comment: I meant “Generalized statements”. Meaning they should be the start, not the end, of an exposition.
That being said, I remmeber about 5 yeras ago, I can look it up more exactly, there was a “Defund the Police” demo over in Hardwick. It was a small number of students led by thier teacher. They appeared to be from the local high school. I photgraphed the scene and wondered whether it was legal for him to be doing it.
Would like to see a “defund the Vermont Legislature” contingent…
Does eager 80 have a name of a real person????? The only struggle I have is the death of Charlie Kirk and the reason for it and who set up that shooting operation. Comment from Richard Day that is a real person.
