
A crash yesterday resulting from a medical issue in Randolph led to the death of the driver. At around 11:22AM, August 24, Trooper Chayan Flores of the Royalton Barracks of the Vermont State Police responded to the crash on Interstate 89 northbound near mile marker 27.8. The operator was identified as Robert Worthington, 82, of Punta Gorda, FL.
During the investigation, VSP Troopers determined that the vehicle had veered off the roadway due to a medical event, then into several trees beyond the shoulder of the roadway. EMS and Fire Rescue attended the scene, as well as the Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team by helicopter. The passenger, Deborah Worthington (also of Punta Gorda) sustained only minor injuries and was also moved to Dartmouth Medical Center for treatment.
The crash is still under active investigation at this time.
