Arson in Randolph

A Randolph man has been charged with first degree arson.

Saturday January 27 at 11:15 pm, state police received a call advising of a man trying to enter a home, carrying a flammable device at 10 Dudley Street in Randolph. Investigation revealed that Clair Sherman, 40, of Randolph was seen lighting a fire there. 

Clair was later located at his home nearby and was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in Orange County Criminal Court.

106 MPH DUI – A Hardwick man was arrested for DUI and speeding early Sunday AM after traveling 106 mph in a posted 55 mph zone on Rte. 2 in Danville. Nathan Campbell, 29, showed signs of impairment and subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

A snowshoer died at Magic Mountain ski resort in Londonderry Saturday, January 27.

The 60-year-old man from southern Vermont who had been snowshoeing with a group of people experienced a medical event and collapsed and died, despite lifesaving efforts by bystanders and the ski patrol.

He was pronounced deceased on scene by Londonderry EMS. His name is being withheld pending notification of the family. 

Mailbox thefts – On Sunday, state police received multiple reports of vandalized and stolen mailboxes that occurred overnight in Corinth. If anyone has any information, please contact the Vermont State Police, Saint Johnsbury.

Smuggling drugs into prison – Surveillance footage captured Ahshanna Gaudette, 25, of Milton surreptitiously handing drugs to her incarcerated partner, Damien Delisle, 31, during a Jan. 20 visit at Northwest State Correctional Facility, state police say.  Delisle then attempted to conceal the drugs on his person. This incident occurred in the presence of other inmates and visitors in the common visiting room at the facility.  Both Gaudette and Delisle were cited for transportation of drugs into a correctional facility.

  2. I ask your prayers for Clair. He is a lost and lonely soul. He was coming to church somewhat regularly. He has been known as the town drunk. Pastor Roger made a difference before Roger left town.
