Republican Vermont House candidate Stephanie Mack says she hopes to bring her background in accounting, small business and financial management to Montpelier as she campaigns for a seat representing the Chittenden-24 district.

Chittenden-24, a single-seat district, covers much of rural Essex Town. Incumbent Democrat Alyssa Black, chair of the House Health Care Committee, is seeking reelection.

In a campaign statement, Mack said her campaign is focused on state spending, taxes, housing costs, education and regulations affecting businesses.

“Working with individuals and small businesses gives me a close-up view of what rising costs, taxes and fees are doing to Vermonters,” Mack said in a campaign statement. “I’m running because I believe my financial experience can help the Legislature make more responsible decisions about how taxpayer dollars are spent.”

Mack founded and operated a bookkeeping and tax practice for 10 years before selling the business in 2025, according to her campaign. She previously spent nine years as office manager at Clean Green Sanitation and now owns Strategizer, an accounting consulting business. She also operates Healer, an online wellness store.

Mack said she wants the Legislature to reduce what she considers wasteful spending and place greater emphasis on financial accountability.

“Vermonters should be confident that every dollar they send to Montpelier is being spent wisely,” Mack said. “We need to reduce unnecessary costs, make Vermont more affordable and remove obstacles that make it harder for small businesses to succeed.”

Her stated campaign priorities include reducing property taxes and fees, seeking greater efficiency in state spending and putting more emphasis in Vermont schools on academic achievement and basic skills.
Mack summarized her fiscal approach as a need to “mind taxpayer dollars with common sense,” with more attention to costs and results.

Mack and her husband, Tim, recently marked their 25th wedding anniversary. They have seven children and one grandchild, with two more grandchildren expected, according to the campaign.
