A Vermont based prayer and vigil campaign that is part of the national pro-life organization, 40 Days for Life, announced the kick-off rally for their campaign on September 21.

Vermont’s 40 Days for Life 7 AM – 7 PM sidewalk campaignon Washington Street, outside the Barre Planned Parenthood, starts on Wednesday, September 24 and runs through Sunday, November 2. However the kick off commences with an opening event on Sunday, September 21 at 1pm at St. Monica Church in Barre. There are campaigns taking place in  Barre VT, Claremont, NH and Burlington, VT.

Tom Kelly, an organizer and supporter of the campaign told VDC by email the details of their September 21 kick off, writing, “Our guest speaker is Jackie Becker of Fairfax, VT; her topic, ‘Adoption:  A Beautiful Life.’ She is the chair, Right to Life Committee, Franklin County; a volunteer with Aspire Now Pregnancy Resource Center (mobile ultrasound unit) and a participant in the 40 Days for Life campaign, Burlington.”

The 40 Days for Life campaign in Burlington is part of an international, faith-based initiative aimed at ending abortion through prayer, fasting, community outreach, and peaceful vigils. The campaign is organized by 40 Days for Life, a nonprofit based in Bryan, Texas, and operates in over 1,000 cities across 64 countries. The campaign draws inspiration from biblical events lasting 40 days, such as Noah’s Ark, Moses on Mount Sinai, and Jesus in the desert, symbolizing a period of transformation and spiritual focus.

As reported in years past by VDC, the visible, public centerpiece of 40 Days for Life is a focused, 40-day, prayer vigil outside a single Planned Parenthood center or other abortion facility. It is a peaceful and educational presence. Those who are called to stand witness send a powerful message to the community about the tragic reality of abortion. It also serves as a call to repentance for those who work at the abortion center and those who patronize the facility.
