Todd Callahan, Senior Pastor of Ignite Church in Williston, addresses the crowd and shares his personal relationship with Charlie Kirk and his family
By Paul Bean
About 300 Vermonters gathered Sunday evening at Ignite Church in Williston for a candle at Ignite Church in Williston in honor of slain conservative leader Charlie Kirk.
“We love you Erika!” said the crowd of 300 in a video sent to Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow. On Facebook, that video now has 190K+ views, 7,200 likes, 398 comments, and 572 shares. Many viewers commented that they wish they had known about the event so they could have attended. Organizers reportedly were concerned about a disruptive, anti-CK opposition appearing.
It is fitting that the vigil was held at Ignite, the site of Kirk’s June, 2021 initial visit to Vermont. The meeting was a stepping stone to organize Turning Point USA in Vermont and to develop support for his October, 2021 rally with UVM students at a South Burlington hotel.
“Thank you, Vermonters,” writes facebook user, Wendy J. Mainieri in response to the clip. “I would not have believed this could happen here without seeing it for myself. I am amazed. May God bless you all.”
Kirk, a 31-year-old prominent political commentator and close ally of President Donald Trump, was killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The assassination occurred while Kirk was addressing a crowd of about 3,000 people as part of his American Comeback Tour.
A single shot, believed to have been fired from a rooftop about 200 yards away, struck Kirk in the neck, leading to his death at a nearby hospital.
VDC will follow up this afternoon with more in depth detail on the candle light vigil in Williston.

This is beautiful! There is hope for Vermont!
I was there. I believe the numbers reported are a little off. The parking lot was completely full. The grass land to the right of the church was quite full as well. The the land to the left of the church was full too. I won’t estimate the numbers, but the parking lot is set up to accommodate more than a full church. Then all the cars to the left and right of the church would easily double the cars in the parking lot. Enough to say, there was easily many more people than 300.
Regardless the numbers however, it was a peaceful call to remember Charlie, and to pray for Erica and the children. A call to forgive even in this tragic time. Also a call for healing of America, and beyond.
Still waiting for the rest of the story about the shooting of Charlie Kirk. The 3006 ammo is very powerful and if anyone had been standing behind Charlie they would have been killed. Much more information is needed as to who set up this operation. Comment from Richard Day.
Some think he was wearing a vest and there was a ricochet. Who knows, tragic.
Quietly, peacefully, gathering together in the face of death, looking toward and asking heaven for guidance, love and assistance.
You see there are no laws against, Love, Joy and Peace, of patience, kindness, goodness, meekness, gentleness and self-control, these are the marks of a true follower of Christ, it comes from a changed heart, TGBTG!
And this is why dictatorships, theocracies, despots, abhor and can’t have the Bible in their presence, because it exposes the hearts of those who go against God’s wonderful plan, and it fills the hearts of those who believe with the Holy Spirit, changing the hearts of our Lord’s followers.
It only takes a spark, to get a fire going, and soon all those around can warm up in it’s glowing. that’s how it is with God’s love, once you experience it, you spread his love to everyone, you want to pass it on……
This is the first verse of great hymn, sung at our church and many others on Sunday. May Vermont be blessed with God’s love, may the Holy Spirit come, convict, guide and change our Vermont hearts, I ask in your name, Jesus Christ, King of Kings, ruler and creator of all, show us your power and love. Amen.
Compare and contrast, this vs. when Donald Trump came to the Flynn.
A local woman introduced herself as having started a local chapter of TPUSA in Vermont. I just found a website: https://turningpointcentervt.org/.
Turning Point or Turning Point USA?
Headline fixed:
300 hold candlelight vigil for God
And still, not a peep from Vermont’s legacy liberal media about Charlie Kirk. Not from VT Digger. Not Seven Days. Not VT Public.
But while 300+ Vermonters had the courage to hold a vigil to honor Charlie Kirk – in London, England, on Saturday, a massive rally supporting Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom movement was happening.
For those of you who don’t know about Tommy Robinson, he is a British conservative ‘influencer’ often characterized by the same ad hominem rhetoric as was Charlie Kirk. Their messages are similar. And Charlie Kirk was clearly on the minds of all in the London march last Saturday too.

It appears that England is at a massive and under reported ‘Turning Point’. The London march was described as having “more than 110,000 people”. Ya think. I watched a helicopter fly over of the Saturday march and there appeared to me to be at least a million Brits, Aussies, New Zealanders and others in the streets, for miles … all clamoring for individual liberty, freedom and national sovereignty.
The reticence demonstrated by most of Vermont’s media to report on the Charlie Kirk assassination, while expected, is nonetheless telling. Thank goodness for VDC reporting.
For those who might want some motivation, watch the Rebel News clip of a powerful Haka performed at London’s march by Maōri from New Zealand. These are Maōri mind you. Not your usual WASPs (white anglo-saxon protestants). The London march included many ethnicities and races – all of whom share the common thread of individual liberty.
Godspeed Charlie Kirk.
And yet that same liberal media you highlighted was quick to point out how the Democratic leadership stood in proud unison to condemn a presentation at the State House about the lived truth of a detransitioner, which was disrupted by that violent trans cult that “may” be implicated in the Kirk assassination. Not to call out the violent group that prevented freedom of speech mind you, but to condemn those who wanted to use free speech to share someone’s painful personal experience.
Wcax wouldn’t report this. I challenge them to prove me wrong.
Well, they proved me wrong. A surprising thank you to wcax for their story
Looks like one member of TEL. LIE. VISON. is willing to talk about Tyler Robinson and Lance Twiggs connection in the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Note that a 3006 round hitting a vest would have pushed the victim backward. Comment from Richard Day.
Note, it only took 33 hours to locate the shooter and is that a magic number in some cult????? Comment from Richard Day.
