Town road crew member charged with sex assault at transfer station

A West Glover woman faces an attempted murder and other charges after an early morning shooting at a man fleeing her home.

Five minutes after midnight on Saturday, Sept. 7, State Police received several 911 calls from Jordan Labounty, 35, of Lyndon Center, who reported having been shot at while fleeing a home in West Glover.

Police say Labounty and Alaina Bouchard, 35, of West Glover had recently met and were at Bouchard’s home when a verbal disagreement ensued. While Labounty was leaving this residence in his home, Bouchard fired a gun several times at Labounty’s vehicle, striking it in several locations. No injuries were reported.

Troopers responded to Bouchard’s residence and executed a search warrant on the property later Saturday morning. Troopers seized physical evidence and took Bouchard into custody. She was ordered held without bail at Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport and is scheduled to be arraigned today for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault w/ Deadly Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Threatening.

Sex assault at transfer station – The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of a Barnard man on charges of sexual assault and lewd and lascivious conduct, the Newport Dispatch reports.

Detective Sergeant Richard King led the investigation following a complaint received on Aug. 12 about an incident near the Barnard Town Garage/Transfer Station involving an adult victim.

The Windsor County Special Investigation Unit conducted interviews which resulted in probable cause for the arrest of 58-year-old Delmar Balch.

Balch, reportedly a longtime member of the Barnard town road crew, was cited to appear in Windsor District Court in White River Junction on Oct. 8.
