A Burlington woman with 29 court order violations was arrested Tuesday morning for throwing a knife.
On November 5, at about 9:36 AM, BPD responded to the area of Church Street and College Street for a report of a female throwing a knife – a description of the female was provided.
Upon arrival, officers located and detained the female suspect, later identified as Victoria Sherman, 33, of Burlington. She was seen with a knife in her hand and threw a knife attempting to cause bodily injury. Dispatch advised officers that Sherman has conditions of release not to have or use any firearms or dangerous/deadly weapons – Sherman also has conditions of release not to engage in threatening or violent behavior. Sherman was taken into custody for Aggravated Assault and Violation of Conditions of Release.
A check of Sherman’s criminal history showed 10 failures to appear, 29 violation of court orders or condition charges with 4 convictions, 4 felony charges, 77 misdemeanor charges with 14 convictions, 13 assaultive crime charges with 4 convictions, and 1 dangerous/deadly weapon related charge.

WOW, another fine example of our court system and catch and release. Now do not worry, our new leadership you just elected will solve this problem in the next two years. Most likely they will ban knives.
I feel like a broken record, but I’ll keep pointing out this nonsense:
“10 failures to appear, 29 violation of court orders or condition charges with 4 convictions, 4 felony charges, 77 misdemeanor charges with 14 convictions, 13 assaultive crime charges with 4 convictions, and 1 dangerous/deadly weapon related charge”
And a “Partridge in a Pear Tree” charge too, I suppose. And yet she’s still free to roam the streets.
Sounds like a stand up citizen, keep putting her back on the streets until she kills someone
It would seem prudent that the City Council would target their efforts to the repeated arrest of the same individuals, and not muddle over hand slapping Police Officers. But alas they seem more concerned with this than saving their downtown? Why is that.
Truer words were never said and you would know, Mike.
I am frequently in downtown Burlington. Anyone have a picture of Victoria Sherman so I can be aware if she is near me? Thank you.
Hi Ed, found this after some digging.

The local TV news organizations prefer to just show a graphic of a police car when there is unflattering downtown crime news in a democrat/progressive-run city, especially when someone is at large for a violent incident and a real mugshot may give the public some opportunity to avoid the suspect… That is the norm…save the junkies with taxpayer-funded narcan and leave the law-abiding public at risk.
