Chittenden County Sen. Tanya Vyhovsky traveled to Europe this week to join “The Ukraine Solidarity Campaign” in both London and Brussels.
Her trip on behalf of ‘international solidarity’ in support of Ukraine – her family is of Ukrainian descent – has resulted in the delay of S.65, which would repeal the Clean Heat Standard.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting @tanyavforvt in the UK this month. Of Ukrainian heritage, Tanya is a left-wing State Senator in Vermont, a strong advocate for Ukraine, for democracy and for workers’ struggles,” wrote The Ukraine Solidarity Campaign on X in announcing Vyhosky’s visit, “This is a great chance to strengthen our links with comrades resisting the Trump regime, learn more about their struggles, and discuss our international strategy.”
The Ukraine Solidarity Campaign is an organization that supports the Ukrainian labor movement and the fight for Ukraine’s freedom against Russian aggression. Their website says they promote solidarity by advocating for workers’ and democratic rights, opposing imperialism, and connecting UK trade unions with Ukrainian activists. This campaign organizes protests, delivers aid, raises funds for Ukrainian left-wing initiatives, and seeks to ‘amplify Ukrainian voices to resist Russian occupation.’ They also collaborate with various UK trade unions and focus on grassroots support for Ukraine.
In a video posted on their Facebook page announcing Vyhovsky’s visit, she said, “Now with the far right in the United States, Europe and elsewhere, we need to be attacking all along the line. It’s a critical time for us right now to strengthen our international perspectives, links, and mutual aid, to support Ukraine, and all of our struggles for democracy and justice for the working class.”
Vyhovsky, who is of Ukrainian heritage and has family in Odessa, spoke as a guest at their event at the UK Parliament in London titled: USA, Europe & Ukraine: what next? With Tanya Vyhovsky
Details of the event said:
“On 24, March Ian Lavery MP is hosting a special meeting in Parliament on behalf of Ukraine Solidarity Campaign, with two left-wing political leaders of Ukrainian heritage from the US and UK, both speaking in person: Tanya Vyhovsky is a State Senator in Vermont. She is a member of the Vermont Progressive Party, and works with Bernie Sanders (who lives in her district!)”
“Trump and Musk are symptoms of the wider problem – capitalism. Oligarchs all over the world may fall out with each other but they unite to push their interests against ours,” wrote the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign, quoting Vyhovsky at the event. “We need true international solidarity to fight back.”
“After speaking at our meeting last night, joining PCS and Unite picket lines, and visiting the Spurs stadium – before heading to Brussels for the Ukraine solidarity conference there this week – @tanyavforvt joined a TAX THE RICH protest in London,” wrote The Ukraine Solidarity Campaign on X, Tuesday.
Vyhovsky was in Belgium Wednesday, at the European Parliament for a meeting on “solidarity with Ukraine.” This event organized by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), Li Andersson of Finland and Jonas Sjöstedt of Sweden, who are both members of “The Left in the European Parliament,” a leftist group in Europe that organized the event.
Amidst conversations yesterday at the Vermont State House yesterday it was rumored that votes on certain bills are being delayed until Vyhovsky’s return.
“While Vermonters wait for action on the future of the Global Warming Solutions Act and the Clean Heat Standard, that work is stalled in the Senate until Sen. Vyhovsky returns from her activism abroad,” wrote VTGOP chairman Paul Dame in a commentary Tuesday titled Four Democrats choose activism over responsibility. “Vermonters appreciate legislators who are passionate about causes, but it’s another thing entirely to leave the chamber during crossover—one of the most critical legislative periods of the year—to engage in geopolitical activism that is beyond her scope as a Vermont senator.”
Senator Terry Williams told VDC that the Senate’s vote on S.65, the “soft” repeal of the Clean Heat Standard, has been delayed until her return and will be voted on April 1.
VDC reached out to Senator Vyhovsky for comment on her trip. We have yet to hear from her. We will post updates and information when and if she does.

Good Gawd! I’m speechless. Is this Bernie’s new girlfriend?
Don’t tell his wife.
There is a hidden connection here and waiting for someone else to expose it.
who paid for her trip , why is it the taxpayers responsibility to fund stuff like this, who voted for her? I am sure she’ll be against repealing the clean heat standard. leftist activist tells me all I need to know.
It would not surprise me if one of Biden’s cronies who got kickbacks from all the billions sent to Ukraine payed for it.
Ukraine labor solidarity! – except for those in Donbas (we bomb you) and Odessa (we trap you in building we set fire to).
An outrage. She is a STATE representative, the state being Vermont not Ukraine. Does she remember what happened to Ukraine under Communism? Did we help them then? I guess they weren’t worth helping when there was no possibility of skimming the trough or becoming an Internet star. “Holmodor, the Ukrainian Genocide”: https://cla.umn.edu/chgs/holocaust-genocide-education/resource-guides/holodomor (I myself am of Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian descent.)
She is a state representative. She does not represent the United States. Is she undermining the efforts of the U.S. to end the war? Hopefully this trip is not funded by taxpayer money.
Well holy damn. Cancelling a vote for a junket? Are we serving Vermont or Ukraine? Silly question. Guess it gives them more of an opportunity to use their gold-plated seat cushion in the lounge. When will seats be placed outside for the public as there are none available for the public? My Gawd, the Green Mountain Boys are rolling in their graves.
If she was a Republican would they hold up a vote for her ?
…she is an exemplar of who we’ve voted into office folks. Does she represent your vision for our state? Have we had enough yet?
“This is a great chance to strengthen our links with COMRADES resisting the Trump regime.”
If she wants to campaign in Europe then maybe she needs to stay there. If she can’t honor her commitment to her constituents then she needs to step down.
Good for her!
Glad to see someone with the guts to stand up to the Trump/Putin partnership.
Those of you who didn’t have family members who grew up in Eastern Europe have no idea how much those people hate the Russians for what they did to them. Shame on US for abandoning Ukraine.
What a good little obedient, compliant globalist! Out there supporting a bloody proxy war, collosal money-laundering, and treasonous fraud. She is a good little soldier for the money changers and the jet-setting elites – I wonder how much she is compensated in donations and gifts for services rendered – above the table or below?
Do Vermont a favor-revoke her passport and leave her there.
The state has to wait on a single left- wing lunatic to vote? Surely there are enough of that ilk in Montpelier.
BTW. Note that 5 out of the 7 bullets to fix Ukraine has to do with more money. Can you name that tune?
