White House: Walz is wrong – immigration policies are saving lives

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Editor’s note: the White House released this commentary January 8.

What exactly does Tim Walz find so objectionable about enforcing our nation’s immigration laws? In his pathetic, inflammatory press conference today, Walz bizarrely claimed “there is no verifiable evidence” that President Donald J. Trump’s immigration enforcement operations are “making America safer.”

Radical Left lunatics like Walz, blinded by their deep delusions and seething hatred for President Trump, have become completely untethered from reality — ignoring the indisputable evidence that President Trump’s immigration policies are literally saving lives:

  • The nation likely saw the largest-ever one-year drop in homicides in 2025 — with especially steep drops in cities where the Trump Administration undertook targeted immigration enforcement and crime prevention operations.
    • For example, a single immigration enforcement operation in Florida resulted in the arrest of 150 illegal alien sex offenders, while operations in Chicago drove a dramatic decrease in violent crime.

    • A staggering 70% of the 650,000+ illegal aliens deported by the Trump Administration since taking office have been charged with or convicted of crimes.

  • Deaths of on-duty law enforcement officers dropped by nearly 25% in 2025.

  • Traffic fatalities have dropped dramatically, with eased congestion in high-immigration cities and the removal of more than 9,500 non-English-speaking commercial truck drivers who posed safety risks on our roadways.

  • Fentanyl trafficking across the southern border has been slashed in half, leading to lower fentanyl purity levels and fewer overdose deaths ravaging American families.

  • Emergency rooms report significant reductions in illegal immigrant visits, freeing up critical resources to better serve American citizens in need of urgent medical care.

  • The share of Americans viewing crime as a “very” serious issue fell by nearly 15% in 2025, reflecting the real-world impact of President Trump’s approach on everyday Americans’ lives.

It is an indisputable fact that President Trump’s immigration policies are saving American citizens from being killed, raped, and assaulted at the hands of criminal illegal aliens with no right to be here.

If Walz and Democrats find that troublesome, it only further exposes their disturbing priorities — putting criminals ahead of Americans.

  1. If it comes from The Whie House it is suspect. When was the last time truth was spoken there?

    • Could you please provide proof—not biased hyperbolic hysterical conjecture—Kathleen (not Gaffney), for the basis for your question?

    • To all VDC commenters –

As stated since late 2025, in 2026 all commenters must be Sustaining Subscribers.

Most regular commenters already are Sustaining Subscribers. To you we say THANK YOU!, you are the reason why 2025 was another record year for views on http://www.vermontdailychronicle.com: 2.6 million. Again, thank you so much.

A Sustaining Subscriber is someone who from November 1 – January 1 made an annual contribution of $108, either by check or online, or who became an online $9/monthly contributor before January 1.

Also, since January 2025 we have been (albeit gradually) enforcing our policy of requiring full names for all commenters. The latter is meant to promote transparency and genuine discourse. The former is an economic decision intended to enhance the longterm sustainability of VDC.

Both of these policies will take full effect this coming week. As non-subscribers and commenters not using their full names (first initial, full last name not preferred but will be accepted) will not be permitted to comment, full stop. We have allowed a week or more in order to ensure that late arrivals of 2025 contributions and procrastinators are accounted for. This week, the online giving link will be updated for 2026, with $11/month and $132/year.

Please note: if you are not yet a Sustaining Subscriber, please subscribe immediately online. Or send a check to VDC, P.O. Box 1547, Montpelier VT 05601 and email us at news@vermontdailychronicle.com that a check is coming.

    • Friday Morning 11:20 after a truth lapse between 2013-2017 and 2020-2024

  2. Frankly, whatever the immigration enforcement policies are doing, they are doing. Why? Because the LAW is the LAW. And we are a nation of laws.
    Illegal Immigration is ILLEGAL.
Americans should not be made to support those who do not belong here.
When Obama was POTUS, his administration deported several million.
Biden’s regime had NO right or authority nor “congressional approval” (as democrats claim Trump now needs in order to just flush a toilet in the White House) to violate federal law & unlawfully open our sovereign borders.
And speaking of dishonesty in the White House? Try the nightmare the Biden years were…..what a public humiliation with men wearing dresses & the POTUS ACTUALLY violating the civil rights of AMERICANS……..

    Three thumbs up, Trump.

    • Everyone is seemingly forgetting the Immigration Laws being enforced for a change, were passed by Congress and signed the a sitting POTUS, most recently a revision signed by Bill Clinton
