VTGOP endorses unanimous SCOTUS decision to curb threat to elections

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT – Today the VTGOP Chairman Paul Dame voiced his support of the unanimous Supreme Court decision which indicated that states can not unilaterally remove a candidate from the ballot.

“In an age of divisive and highly partisan politics, it is encouraging to see the Supreme Court united – unanimously – in opposition to the Democrat Secretary of State officers who have launched this attack against the former President, their top political opponent. Having this unanimous decision underscores the blatant partisan and overwhelming unfairness these officers have taken, and further demonstrates that if there is a threat to our democratically-elected republic, that threat is being pursued by Democrats trying to prevent people from voting for a candidate other than their preferred choice.

While this effort was thwarted, it should be remembered the Democrats have been successful in their efforts to disenfranchise people and confound elections in other instances. The DNC rules prevented President Biden from being listed on the NH ballot, and in other states like Florida their state party unilaterally cancelled the primary without giving Democratic voters a right to weigh in for or against their incumbent. While Democrats continue to threaten basic principles of elections and giving people the right to choose their candidates especially in their own party, we take comfort that the Supreme Court is there to stop them from interfering with ours.”
