  1. Instead of taxpayers funding all this expensive and largely ineffective inpatient “rehab” for those with opioid addiction, have we tried doing the same thing as we do for nicotine addicts? Just run ads on TV, radio and print media with catchy slogans, toll-free phone numbers and websites like 1-800-QUIT NOW, 1-800-NY Quits, http://www.nysmoke free and 802QUITS. The only catchy slogan I have seen used for opioids is “we can’t arrest our way out of a drug problem”…but have we tried that?
