  1. There is no way to even find these people unless they are getting arrested by local law enforcement or harboring another migrant who is a criminal anyway. Then factor in Vermont Senate Bill 79 that already limits cooperation between state and federal law enforcement and this amounts to a big “nothingburger”. The ONLY illegals who will deported from Vermont will be the drunk drivers and domestic abusers on up the criminal chain. Anybody here have a problem with that? Didn’t think so.

    • Wrong. Not cooperating with ICE is a federal crime and Trump’s new “border czar” Thomas Homan has made it clear those state officials shall deal with the consequences which include, but aren’t limited to, the “incursion” of additional federal law enforcement personnel within such states, the use of military personnel to enforce extant law, the withholding of federal funds, and arrest and imprisonment of state officials. I’d suggest obeying the law as so many mommies’ once advised decades ago.

The Biden/Harris administration were and remain the lawbreakers here – not the incoming administration soon to attempt to have these rogue states comply with the rule of law.

The massive influx has caused skyrocketing crime and multibillions of dollars of costs in providing hosts of services to these invaders. They need to be removed, and restoration of federal law restored – like it or NOT.

  2. I never worry about the legal residents of Vermont. My concerns are about all of he illegals. We should care for them, hug them, love them. Give them cell phones and debit cards. Give cars and free housing. Free medical care. Those meanie Republicans! Let’s deport Republicans instead of illegals. Show em what Vermont stands for! LOL. Good grief! How i despise liberals. I put all my effort in to save the rainforests and now I have to save illegals, too?

  3. Yeah Joan, I’m aware of 8 U.S.C. § 1373 prohibiting state and local governments from
restricting the ability of state and local officials to share certain information
with federal immigration authorities, however VT Senate Bill 79 is purposefully worded as it is to remain in compliance with 8 U.S.C. § 1373 and will require an Executive Order from the Trump administration to override- as it did in 2017. Regardless, the legalese (or even my personal opinion- I didn’t share one actually- No need to project) around this was not the point of my comment anyway, but how this “mass deportation” will actually look as it is attempted to be carried out in physical form- AGAIN- like in 2017, we already have a model for this and making it actually happen will be next to “impossible”. That’s all!

    • Well, I guess only time will tell. I mean, Trump was also anticipated & expected to be behind bars for the rest of his days by now too. He should have been dead & buried by assassins’ bullets. His being impeached and sued over & over should have left him completely unable to run for the presidency again, nevertheless, win it – yet he has, via a resounding majority.

He seems to be a pretty tenacious dude and last I heard, the majority of Americans want these illegal aliens removed as provided for by US law. I know our family does. And federal & constitutional law supersedes state law. And your comments, whether you personally perceive them as inference or stated sentiment, sure seemed like opinion to me either way, which is precisely what the allowance for these comments on this forum are designed for.

  4. Again Joan, you took my statement about the physical logistics of carrying out such a plan (I actually made from experience) and made an assumption about my political views from it. I am fully aware of both the positive and negative aspects of immigration vs illegal entry from my years of subject matter expertise in immigration law, but I’m sure whatever it is you do for a living must make you more qualified to have an opinion than I, since you start discussions by telling stranglers they are “wrong”. The simple fact of the matter, whether YOU like it or not is that we are NEVER going to be able to find many of these people until they turn up on a County Sheriffs booking sheet after having an encounter with local law enforcement, sorry to break it to you lady. I actually would love to see it happen (personally).

    • Well John, I believe you might misunderstand the entire objective of allowing commentary following an article and that is the ability for different viewpoints to be discussed. Once there are then these differing viewpoints, it is natural that commenters will disagree with one another, attempt to refute another’s position, while likely perceiving that the other’s viewpoint is “wrong” and then attempting to defend their own opinion. In many secondary schools & beyond, this is also obviously referred to as “debate”. But your rather lengthy dissertations belie your assertion that you aren’t sharing any “personal opinion” on the topic whatsoever.

I still maintain that the Trump team’s declaration that they will deport the majority of illegal aliens, and virtually all of the illegal criminals allowed in by Biden/Harris. And as of right now, no one has any rational basis to argue against that. I don’t ever recall any POTUS who has ever attempted such a feat with the potential proposed penalties (described in my first response) poised to be enacted against states that seek to interfere with the law in question — iI’d guess this was never done via administrations beforehand in light of the fear of the P.C. police. TTrump holds no such fear. So again, as everything that awaits us in the future….. we’ll see.

  5. Just one question…..many have been here for more than a decade and yet they have (apparently) made no effort to attain legal status?

  6. Maybe this is why they want to get rid of the Sheriffs. The Sheriffs are not beholding to your local corporate government. The trouble with appointed law officers, they do the bidding of their masters.

  7. Joan- I really dont have time to argue all day about your right to comment or not, nor really understand why you feel you need to when that is not the subject here—- was just pointing out the logistics of such an initiative and how unrealistic it is, then was forced to defend and explain why— but since you still don’t get it, I should probably remind you that physically locating an illegal alien is just the first step— after that, they are served a notice to appear before an immigration judge and are only BEGINNING the lengthy removal process (I’m sure YOU knew all that however despite your failure to mention it). There is no executive order any president can issue to skirt that regardless of your faith in their motivation or the promises they made on the campaign trail. And by the way, the actual number is closer to 25 million…. Godspeed lady. You’ll need it to get the job done. Goodday Joanie.

    • Yours is not the process Trump is engaging in – he is forcibly, and expeditiously deporting the estimated 20 million individuals, including tens of thousands of people with known criminal history, who came here unlawfully through the clandestine wide-open border made possible intentionally by the wonderful “progressive” left, otherwise known as Communists, in alliance with Biden/Harris.
Trump has no plans, nor does his administration in indulging in any years’ long removal process that you describe – the days of bureaucratic red tape & mass corruption are joyfully over. And I’m not the one “getting the job done”, your nemesis and ideological opponent Donald Trump will be getting it done. Gooday to you, “Johnny”.

  8. Joan- I voted for Trump both times and am even a donor. Still making assumptions I see. The fable of the tiger and monkey has finally just come to mind, so I bid you adieu.

    • Actually John, the fable of the lion and the donkey is even more appropriate after reading your exchange with Lady Dunlop up there….

  9. When you are put into a state of emergency, you give a lot of power to the president. How well did the COVID KILL SHOT AND LOCKDOWN help you and have you recovered??????

  10. Does “Migrant Justice” have a tally of how many Vermont migrant FARMworkers have been deported thus far (since 2017)? And of that number, how many have had convictions either here or at home for a crime OTHER than entering the U.S.A. illegally?

By published totals, there are 1500 or so “migrant” farmworkers currently employed on Vermont’s farms. How many have been deported? Farmers need these “migrants” to do the jobs that they cannot find a U. S. citizen anymore to do reliably! Nobody wants farmwork anymore. The “migrant” workers are not replacing citizen labor at a lower cost.

Having said that, how many have actually been deported?

    • Trump is not the POTUS and won’t be for two full months. Biden/Harris & the Communist party that they are affiliated with not only didn’t deport anyone, but welcomed lawbreakers, criminals, gang members, drug dealers, and terrorists into this nation with open arms – in the event such all went somehow, some way unnoticed.

As far as your farmworkers, they aren’t here illegally if they apply for, are eligible to receive, and are provided a H-2A temporary Visa by this government. This is called: being in the USA lawfully. This does not grant them citizenship & thereby does not entitle them to vote – despite the apparent confusion experienced by leftist “progressive” VT reps out of places such as Burlington or Montpelier or Winooski.

There are your farm hands – no permanence or illegalities needed – or wanted.

BTW, just heard Justin Trudeau ended the virtually all immigration into HIS country for the next three years and then will only be accepting immigrants with the skills and educational experience that country requires. But when Trump suggested immigration dependent upon merit, he was a “racist” and a “xenophobe”.

      NO more EXUSES! Deport.

  11. If these undocumented farm workers set to be deported have been here for a decade and are still here illegally, why in all that I’ve haven’t they worked to obtain their US citizenship yet?
