VT GOP calls on AG Clark to avoid carbon reduction lawsuit

Last month on July 23rd, the Conservation Law Foundation filed a notice of lawsuit against the State of Vermont regarding a provision of the Global Warming Solutions Act. The notice indicated a 60-day period where CLF was “willing to discuss effective remedies” from the lawsuit.

VTGOP Chairman Paul Dame issued the following statement now that half of that notice period has passed by.

“Vermonters want to avoid a lawsuit without breaking our bank. I am calling on AG Charity Clark to provide recommendations to the legislature about how the state of Vermont can reduce our exposure to legal risks in the next legislative session. As Republicans have said from the beginning, these goals were unattainable given the currently available technology, but now the state is getting dragged in to court for completely avoidable reasons. The Attorney General needs to provide the state with sound counsel about how we get ourselves out of the mess that Democrats have created by putting taxpayer money at risk in the “protracted litigation” that is being threatened by the Conservation Law Foundation. The Attorney General should make a series of recommendations about which provisions of the Global Warming Solutions Act need to be repealed so that this lawsuit will not adversely impact Vermont taxpayers while we work on addressing our environmental goals within the means we have available.”

Since notice of the lawsuit was provided the Attorney General’s office has not made any public statements or given any reassurances to taxpayers that they will fight to defend Vermonters from an expensive lawsuit like this.

The lawsuit provision in the GWSA become more relevant on the national level last week when Vice President Harris participated in her first recorded and edited interview since becoming the Presidential Nominee and made a vague reference to dealing with climate change with “deadlines around time”.

“There is little doubt to me that at the heart of Vice President Harris’s word salad was a dog whistle to climate alarmists in reference to Vermont’s Global Warming Solutions Act,” said Chairman Dame. “It was a nod to the most unreasonable and uncompromising climate extremists who are likely aware of the law – while the average person heard what he said and just scratched their head and brushed it off. But this law is nothing to ignore. Vermont has become a petri dish for some of the most extreme progressive ideas, and this is among the worst. Out Attorney General has been MIA with this highly anticipated lawsuit pending and many Vermonters are uncertain of how, or if, she is going to defend our taxpayers from this lawfare.”

Chairman Dame has already called on AG Clark to promise a “vigorous response” for state taxpayers in July when the lawsuit was first announced. Still no comment from the Attorney General. After that last demand the VTGOP was able to recruit Ture Nelson of Berlin to run against Charity Clark for the office of Attorney General.

  1. This is akin to calling your school doctor and saying you don’t want your kid injected with MRNA poison.

They could care less. Your kid is going to get it and the Vermont Supreme court is going to uphold it, we have no justice in this state, we are run by criminals and their puppets.

You aren’t their Daddy, in this case their Daddy is George Soros, who bought all the “legal” minds to take these positions.

Of course, the VTGOP has labeled the “enemy” to be President Donald Trump, just like the Uniparty, but then one questions weather some are aware of even the lines of disagreement.

Many in the VT GOP want us to believe, it’s just the Democrats, if we can just get them to reason with us, if we just show them a seasoned argument they will listen. I’m not sure who is more filled with pride. They want us divided as a people, hating each other, that is their biggest strength and weakness, along with lying, but there is plenty of that to go around.

Might as well __ss in the wind, at least your bladder would get some relief.

We need a better plan, the current one is an EPIC FAILURE.
    Time to change course.

  2. Ha! Put a fox in the henhouse and expect the fox to defend the chickens?
ms. clark’s ideology is complicit in the fraud that the GWSA is. Follow the money trail, as has been pointed out extensively since 2019 and you will see clark is a cog in the socialist grifting scheme- planned from the beginning- when VPIRG and other NGO’s drafted the legislation. Interestingly, the current fervor surrounding Act 122, the climate change superfund bill to extract dollars from major oil companies lines up nicely with dollars required to disperse to NGO’s under the GWSA.

  3. btw, the Climate Change and the deadlines they are referring to have nothing to do with the weather.

The time frame, to which they are referring is Agenda 2030, 2050, it has nothing to do with the saving of the planet and everything to do with installing a world government, modeled around boy genius Karl Marx.

But keep arguing about climate change, meanwhile, they will, by design change the rest of America to look like the Marxist melting pot of Montpelier, keep arguing about climate change, meanwhile they will eat your lunch and steal tomorrow lunch money from you.

After all, some pigs are more equal than others.

But just remember….it’s all Trumps fault and Voter for Biden. We are idiots.
Don’t forget your new vaccines this fall! Mask up!

  4. If you want to know who’s involved in the climate boondoggle, follow the money,
there are plenty of padding pockets, Oh wait wouldn’t that be a crime ??

Wake up people, and look at the proposed policies/legislation, you’ll see who pushing what agenda that’s going to cost you, and they’re getting fat from it !!

  5. The Federal government needs to pay for the implementation of this so called solutions act or the Foundation. Vermont does not have the money. Do we Vermonters approve of this solutions act? Did we vote for this program?

    • The Vermont voters voted to elect these people who brought this boondoggle to Vermont. Maybe you didn’t vote for it personally but, if you voted dem/prog you indirectly voted for it. This mess belongs to all those voters who want to feel good about themselves for healing a planet that isn’t sick. The sick part is that people are ignorant enough to believe that man can control the climate, especially from Vermont that is less than the size of a postage stamp on the surface of Earth. I was one of the 112,000 people who didn’t vote for any of these people. Of course, it’s all Trumps fault as the media has pounded this lie into the useful idiot’s heads for the last 8 years. And also, those evil conservative Vermonters are to blame too, even though they haven’t been in control of the Vermont government for 4 decades. How long does it take for people to wake up in Vermont? Apparently, they can’t bring themselves to admit that all, all of this is their fault, and the normal people suffer under the weight of voter ignorance. As the saying goes, you can’t fix, legislate or outrun stupid. Our new license plate moto, Welcome to the Stupid State!

  6. Why not just file civil lawsuits against legislators that passed the bills, and let their assets alleviate the issue?
