Vote no on school budgets ’til 87% Solution kicks in

by Libby Moyer

Our educational system is failing badly. Rather than focusing on basics such as reading, writing, arithmetic, and physical fitness, woke ideology is stressed. Administrative overload hampers teachers ability to interact with and teach their students. The Teachers Union pushes the notion that they – not parents – have executive control of children and complete control of curriculum and a child’s health. And costs have skyrocketed as you – the voter – knows and is evidenced in your property taxes.

This is despite a declining student enrollment  that the state is incredibly unable to ascertain. They can’t count, but they can move forward with expensive expansions of facilities that – in some cases – are underutilized. And these property taxes are scheduled to rise yet again by 20% or more percent.

However, it is up to you – the voter – to put the brakes on. Simply vote NO on current school budgets at your local school board meeting, and at the revotes to follow, and the budget reverts to 87% of last year’s budget and impedes the State’s ability to raise future taxes.

Vermont is going broke. Despite repeated warnings by Governor Scott that the legislature’s spending is unsustainable, his veto has been overridden by a partisan supermajority. At the same time these legislators have voted themselves raises, cost of living increases, health care benefits etc; and are proposing spending a Billion additional dollars on something they call “Climate Justice” and I call a slush fund. Where’s the money? Guess…

There is a solution. Vote them ALL OUT. Regardless of party affiliation, gender, personal consideration, or seniority. From Bernie (the Grump) Sanders, Rebecca Balint, and on down vote ALL incumbent representatives out. This is Vermont’s opportunity to send a message. Elected officials are servants of the citizenry. We are not slaves of the state.

  3. “Is Vermont becoming a Slave State or simply an Idiocracy?” Vermont is a cesspool of corruption and a grifter’s paradise. See photos of Governor Scott, Lt. Governor Zuckerman and former Secretary of State Jim Condos entertaining CCP operatives in the State House, February 2019. There be your answer, an installed, belligerent regime.

    • Jay, your cartoon shared in the link that states “ When someone says entertainment and media are brainwashing our kids, Hey lets give some credit to our public schools” is perfect and made me smile. Thank you Jay. -Libby
