BRUSSELS (AP) a one day meeting —“ In the shadow of a massive monument glorifying nuclear power, over 30 nations from around the world pledged to use the controversial energy source to help achieve a climate-neutral globe while providing countries with an added sense of strategic security. “ … “ In Europe, France is the leader in nuclear energy and accounts for about two-thirds of its overall provisions.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that “thanks to the nuclear model, France is one of the few countries that exports its electricity, which is an opportunity.”

  2. Love the new video format. Using language and art got a lot more information to the viewer. Obviously the brainchild of someone too young to remember the Lone Ranger on TV.

  3. Agenda, Agenda, Agenda, Agenda, they don’t care and they won’t listen to common sense……………….. follow the money and who it’s going to !!

    Wake up people.

  4. So is Phil’s stock car nuclear, wind, solar, or rubber band powered ? I’ve watched the F1 E-car circuit, and I’m not impressed. Part of the reason that I have trecked to Daytona 5 times is because of the smells, the sounds, the overall ambiance of the experience. A lot of this is missing with electric powered vehicles. What would be next ? Radio controled from the top of the stands ? Personally, I would not want to go to a race where any of this is missing.

  5. Vermont already purchases nuclear powered electricity from Seabrook at about 7.5 cents per kwh.

Vermont also purchases clean, green, hydro electricity from Hydro Quebec at about 7.5 cents per kwh – HQ, the 4th largest hydroelectric producer in the world.

In fact, the same conglomerate that owns Hydro Quebec (HQ) also owns Green Mountain Power.

Green Mountain Power buys wind and solar generated power for about 20 cents per kwh and passes the cost on to Vermont ratepayers.

Are our legislators lying when they tell us Vermont will be 100% carbon free by 2030? You’re right they’re lying. Twice. First, Vermont can never be 100% carbon neutral with wind and solar. Second, Vermont could be virtually 100% carbon neutral today, if the legislature, the PUC, and VIPRG folks agreed to buy more power from HQ and Seabrook right now.

So, why doesn’t the legislature buy more Seabrook and HQ power today? Because they’re either too stupid to realize that the solar and wind people are making so much money fleecing Vermont ratepayers, or they’re in on the scam. I mean – as long as we’re willing to pay 20 cents per kwh to the snake oil salesmen, why would they sell Seabrook and HQ power for 1/3rd the cost?

    • Jay, where are the rates you cite – Seabrook @ 7.5 + HydroQuebec 7.5 + GMP/W&S @ .20 published and verified ? And to which energy suppliers are those rates seen as invoiced line items per supplier then out to consumers ? TY

    • Libby, the rates are published in various places. When I first began citing them, HQ was charging only 5.5 cents per kwh to Vermont on a 20-year contract. Seabrook was marginally more expensive. That was a couple of years ago. Same goes for GMP’s payout for wind and solar. Do the research yourself. Let me know what you find. In the meantime I’ll double check my sources.

    • If any thinks the VT Agency of Education financials are vague and obscure, just look at Vermont’s electric utility documentation. Here are recent best guesses.

Update: Approximate GMP 2022 Annual Energy Mix:

      Large Hydro 25.5% Hydro Quebec
      Nuclear 24.8% Seabrook
      Solar 12.7%
      Wind 10.9%
VT Hydro 9.8% also owned by HQ
      Wood 4.3%
      Methane 0.5%
      Hydro (No RECs) 1.1%
Market Purchases 9.7% various peak demand from the grid

    • Hydro Quebec Deal:
Central Vermont Public Service and Gaz Metro Ltd’s Green Mountain Power, which negotiated the agreement on behalf of several smaller Vermont utilities, agreed to buy up to 225 megawatts of power from Canada’s Hydro-Quebec starting in November 2012 and ending in 2038, the utilities reported.

The purchase price for the Hydro-Quebec power will start at about six cents per kilowatt-hour, the utilities said. The final price for deliveries starting in 2012 will be set in December 2010.

P.S. Keep in mind that HQ owns all of the CT River hydro plants too.

    • Non-Hydro and Non-Nuclear Energy costs:
Net-metering is the process of measuring the difference between the electricity supplied to a customer by their utility and the electricity fed back to the utility by a customer’s electric generation system (such as solar panels) during the customer’s billing period.

Since I last checked, net metering rates have changed. See the Illustrative Cost Comparison of Renewable Resources (Figure 51) on page C-12 of this report. Costs range from 8 cents per kwh to over 25 cents per kwh. According to Table 1 (on page C-6) the current aggregate compensation cost paid by GMP for alternate power like wind and solar is 17.1 cents per kwh.

  6. i kicked the oil company out my yard because they thought they owned my fuel oil tank/// next in line will be green mountain power brought down to only using for my sump pump and refrigerator// propane gas lights are an option, and easy to set up/// water heater can be run by a generator when needed along with other needs/// they can shut down the out side street light with all the other fee sucking additions/// there are some things you can do if you have to///
