Final Match Report: Vermont Green FC 2-1 Ballard FC

Vermont Green FC defeated Ballard FC 2-1 in the 2025 USL League Two Final on Saturday night and were crowned National Champions. The Boys in Green completed an undefeated 2025 season in front of a roaring crowd of 5,000+ at Virtue Field.
Vermont won on a penalty shot goal by League MVP Julien Le Bourdoulous, and a goal by substitute Maximilian Kissell with an assist from Zach Zengue. Charlie Kosakoff scored the lone goal for Ballard.
Reported by the Journal-Opinion: Maximilian Kissel has certainly carved himself a place into Vermont soccer lore.
In November, Kissel scored an 86th minute goal for UVM to clinch the America East conference championship. The following month, Kissel scored an overtime goal as the Catamounts became the NCAA 2024 Men’s Soccer Division I national champions.
On Saturday, Kissel was there again as he broke a 1-1 tie in the final seconds to lift Vermont Green FC to the USL League Two title.
“It’s my job. I’m a striker, I got to score,” said Kissel. “It’s my job to hunt the glory.”
Kissel got the goal, but the whole team got the glory as they closed out an undefeated season in style.
The Green had the advantage of playing at home throughout the playoffs with Vermonters treated to heart-stopping shows.
