The Vermont Medical Society and eight other medical and public health organizations announced today they have won a legal settlement requiring the federal government to restore thousands of public health webpages that were removed earlier this year.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agreed on August 27 to reinstate the data, which covers topics including LGBTQ health, reproductive health, vaccine guidance, HIV/AIDS research, clinical trials, and other areas. The pages were deleted last January under a federal executive branch directive.

According to Bloomberg Business News, an HHS spokesman said the agency “remains committed to its mission of removing radical gender and DEI ideology from federal programs, subject to applicable law, to ensure taxpayer dollars deliver meaningful results for the American people.”

On Jan. 20, President Donald Trump issued an executive order directing federal agencies to remove all statements that “promote or otherwise inculcate gender ideology.” The VMS and other organizations maintain the webpages provide essential information to healthcare providers and researchers.

The lawsuit, Washington State Medical Association et al. v. Kennedy et al., was brought by groups representing physicians, nurses, pediatricians, researchers, and public health advocates. Plaintiffs argued that the removal of the information undermined access to science-based health data used by clinicians, researchers, and policymakers.

“Vermont clinicians are celebrating this clear win for science and evidence,” said Dr. Katie Marvin, president of the Vermont Medical Society. “Access to public health data saves lives by helping patients make informed decisions and ensuring resources reach the communities that need them most.”

The nine plaintiffs were the Washington State Medical Association, Washington State Nurses Association, Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, AcademyHealth, Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, Fast-Track Cities Institute, International Association of Providers of AIDS Care, National LGBT Cancer Network, and Vermont Medical Society.

Defendants included Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and the heads of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, Health Resources and Services Administration, and Office of Personnel Management.

    • Wasted money? Really? You must be expecting a golden ticket to the golden ballroom trump is building. Talk about a waste of money. Talk about a ‘man for the people.’ Wasted money is defending the 14th amendment, which trump tried to overrule with an executive order (but I’m sure you’re on board with defying the constitution because, heck, it’s trump!) Why do we have to spend money on that? Well, because the president doesn’t care about the constitution. Similarly, wasted money defending the 1st amendment over flag burning. And soon enough we’ll be wasting money defending state’s rights to setup their own elections. Because he doesn’t respect the constitution we have to waste money defending it. It sounds like he is trying to undermine our constitution. But I’m guessing you’re a fan of that, eh? I bet you think we are wasting VT tax payer money having a police force. We should just let the federal government handle that. All of it. Right? Isn’t that what you want? Stop wasting money. Let the feds handle it. Wasted money? Trump is proving to be the greatest asset the rich have ever paid for. The truth is that Trump is as far from a republican as a jackass, yet the noun is quite suitable.

    • Re: “…as far from a republican as a jackass, yet the noun is quite suitable.”

Do you mean ‘jackass’, as in ‘Democrat’…. yes?

    • FYI – according to Snopes… “no credible evidence that the Trump administration’s proposed $200 million ballroom would be paid for using taxpayers’ money.”

      So, who’s the ‘jackass’, Nick?

    • Jay, I did not know that trump was going to pay for it. that makes it so much better. I’m a huge trump fan now. I can deal with socialism knowing our supreme leader is paying for everything.

  1. If the federal government is required to have these pages of scientific studies, they better include those studies that demonstrate proof of how damaging the transgender ideology is toward youth. I want to see them post studies that show how 80% of gender confused youth outgrow it by the time they’re in their late teens and how the suicide rate increases for transgendered individuals and the negative effects of trans hormones have on patients. I want to see studies of all the patients who’ve suffered bad outcomes. Etc, etc. These pages have to paint the entire picture.

  2. It’s just feels so good when the federal government tells citizens how to live. We should abolish states and just let the feds run everything. Isn’t that what trump supporters want? More federal government, less local control.

    • Tyler, that’s pre trump. Things have changed. Socialism is on the rise with trump investing government money in Intel. He’s looking for other companies to invest our, not his, money. He is also using federal powers to police citizens even though they say ‘no thanks.’ His tariffs have destroyed small farms, especially in Arkansas. Have you seen the latest reports? Arkansas farmers are begging for federal handouts, because the ‘supreme leader’ has destroyed the free market. Your welcome, I guess.

    • Just curious. Did you get the Covid shot that they made some people take. Like military personnel. The last administration was the one of authoritarian realm. They made you wear masks. They made kids stay home to be home schooled. They silenced anyone who spoke differently about Covid. They wouldn’t even listen to them. The democrats made up the story of Russian collusion during trumps first term. I could go on and on but I’d be wasting more time on someone who obviously has severe TDS.

    • Matt, you’re avoiding what i said about trump. Care to comment on him, not the previous administration? I laid out my case. You deflected.

    • There is no local control of anything. That is the big lie of our time. Our energy, climate, DEI, gender identity including Gender Affirming Care universal school lunch program, universal preschool policies all originated at the United Nations and UN agencies like the World Heakth Organization. Implemented with help of unions and nonprofits to include the NEA. The NEA is a World Economic Forum and United Nations partner.

    • Hey Nick you mean like when the Biden administration told us we had to inject ourselves with an unproven vaccine or lose our jobs, not be allowed in a hospital to see sick and dying family members, not be allowed to go in stores or be allowed to go into places having entertainment and to prove it with a i.d. card. But not needed for voting.
And how the Biden administration censored and controlled any political opinions that were put on the internet if it went against him and his administration.
Exactly what a dictator would do. And none of it was to help make America great again. But you keep right on hating the good guy. And remember the Biden administration kept telling you to.
You make a great subject of the Obuma/biden kingdom

  3. I definitely agree that anything related to DEI should be removed from government. It has no place there. As far as Gender ideology goes that is absolutely evil. There is no such thing as a transgendered person. There should never be support for someone adult or child to change their gender. It cannot be done. Helping a confused person to see the reality of who they are should be supported. I am just blown away that we as a country ever went down this road.
