When the Vermont Daily Chronicle reached 1,000,000 views for the year in late December, 2022, I was blown away. My little blog, born just five years earlier, was all grown up!

Last year we hit the million mark in early December.

This year? August 8. There’s no snow on the ground. No Chestnuts Roasting on the radio. And here we are.

Here’s how I think it happened.

Numero Uno, you like to read and watch what we publish.

Second, Managing Editor Tim Page took over many of the essential tasks of producing a daily newspaper. Leaving me more free to write more top news, manage staff, and build audience and support.

Third, our daily views really took off when Social Media Director Paul Bean came aboard in January and started producing reels and live videos and sharing everything we publish across multiple online platforms.

Fourth, our corps of contributing reporters and commentators continue to write timely, Vermont-based news and commentary.

And fifth, some of you support us as Sustaining Subscribers. When you contribute $9/month online or $108/year online or send us a check for $108 to VDC, P.O. Box 1547, Montpelier, VT 05601. You know who you are. You make it happen.

If you’re reading this and you don’t yet make it happen, I urge you to right now right now click on one of those links or write and mail that check. Because without you…. it doesn’t happen.

What’s next?
We’re gearing up for providing our best General Election coverage ever. Paul and I are kicking it off Tuesday night, August 13 with live, interactive Primary Election Night coverage on VDC-TV. News, analysis, live interviews.

For the 84 days between August 13 and November 5, VDC plans to provide fair, balanced, comprehensive news coverage of the Vermont House, Senate, statewide and national elections. We will be fearless and we will have fun. Join us!
