Vice President J.D. Vance is reportedly headed with his family to the Mad River Valley for a skiing trip this weekend.

The Secret Service and Vermont law enforcement officials are working today on a security plan for the new vice president while he is in the Green Mountain State.

The Valley Reporter, which first reported online the breaking story, says the Vance family is expected to stay at The Pitcher Inn on Main Street in Warren. The newspaper said the family plans to ski at the Sugarbush resort, which is about 3 miles away.

The inn’s website notes today that there are no rooms available for Friday and Saturday night. A room for Wednesday night is listed at $600 and for Thursday night at $1,403. After the two unavailable nights, room prices are listed at $810 on the inn’s website.

The former Ohio senator and his wife, Usha, have two sons and one daughter, ages 2 to 7.

The exact length of the stay in Washington County by the Vances was not immediately provided by officials.

Mike Pence, the vice president for President Donald Trump’s first term, made short 2 or 3-day vacation stops around Labor Day weekends in 2018, 2019 and 2020 at Lake Hortonia in Rutland County.

Both U.S. Senators at the time (Patrick J. Leahy and Bernie Sanders) sent statements welcoming Pence to Vermont.

  1. Perhaps the Vermont Daily Chronicle can find out how much Vance’s visit will cost the state of Vermont.

    • Why? Have you added up the costs to Vermont Taxpayers created by the presence of Bernie, Leahy, Welch and Balint?

    • For many years, POTUS, VP, other candidates and dignitaries have visited VT at the expense of Vermont taxpayers. Law enforcement agencies on the state, county, and local levels provide security as they assist the Secret Service. It is claimed that these agencies can submit their overtime expenses for reimbursement. I know that expenses are submitted but the candidates or VIP’s never provide any reimbursement. Sometimes they hang around for photo op’s with the security details with offers to send those photos to the agencies. That does not happen either.

    • Two thoughts: I don’t think the point of the protest should be to make DJ feel unwelcome, but rather to capture media attention from him and his visit to to show our support for folks who are hurt by this administration’s actions.
Also, I am seeing a lot of anger. That anger is potential energy. Don’t just let it simmer after one protest, turn it into kinetic energy. Go and volunteer for those organizations that help the folks you care about: a church, Outright VT, the VA, a gun range, a school… you don’t have to care about the same things as I do, what matters is that you care and act.

  2. Just a question of time before the Vermonters will move into their protest mode ensuring the Vance family receives the standard welcome and not much rest.

    • There already is a protest being planned, saw it on Facebook! They’re going to go to the hotel on Saturday at 5pm

    • They have already made plans, BUT some supporters have also made plans to greet them in Warren. I’m considering attending that.

  3. No doubt the libs with their boiling rage will make his visit a living hell. If I could talk to him I’d tell him don’t bother..go skiing in Idaho or Montana where you’ll be given the respect and peace you deserve.

  4. Hmmm – Montana, that is the state where last year the Governor assisted a 14 year old girl to go to another state to have a transgender makeover without the permission of her parents. I wonder what the two of them might discuss at the ski lodge?

  5. I hope this is part of diversionary tactics and that we’ll find that they went skiing in N.H.

    • Waterville Valley would be the perfect spot for VP Vance and family… The area is owned by the Gov. Of NH, and he is a Republican.

  6. Many high profile celebrities frequent Vermont resorts. Such inns thrive due to professional discretion. Little doubt, the inn which Vance booked leaked his travel plans as a political move. As with every restaurant or theater that’s ever insulted, or refused service to a conservative leader, this inn too will not survive.

  7. Vermonters will be there en masse to show our displeasure at paying for his vacation trip!

    • don’t count me as one of your “Vermonters”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that will be there “en masse”

    • A small price to pay compared to the absolutely disgusting amount of wasted taxpayer dollars that this administration is uncovering under the blundering Biden administration..get over it.

    • Really Jean!

Did you ever ask that question about Bernie, Leahy or Welch? How about Biden or Harris?

I wonder why the Dems/Progs are so incensed about Republican wealthy politicians? Especially when their monies were made in the private market?

Hypocritically, they are silent when so much personal wealth is accrued while elected officials like Bernie, Leahy etc. become millionaires/billionaires while making a representative’s salary?

This should be a focus of DOGE!

    • Surely more fulfilling than paying Sleepy the last four years for snoozing on the beach.

  8. Libs protesting the Vice-Presidential visit. Smackdown time in the Green Mountains. J.D. Vance won’t be putting up with unruly rallies. A new legend in Vermont folklore is forthcoming! Halleluiah.

  9. Referring to President Biden as Sleepy: I’ll take Sleepy any day over a guy who plays right into Putin’s hand and turns the rest of the world against the U.S. Wake up!
